I had 3 clear laugh out loud moments in this video, and the information was great. I actually am considering the BBP vs a EXP II. I understand your emotional point, but I have another Rolex as well, so the brand differentiation is interesting to me; I've also had a 16570 in the past as well so I know what I'd be missing. It looks like the dial is slightly bigger than the 16570. Could you tell if it was? The 39mm dimension has been a concern for me--these watches are very hard to find at a boutique, but my wrist is only slightly larger than yours, and I liked how it wore on you. I may just get a 42mm Exp II. The adjustability of the bracelet on the BBP is very compelling, however. I live in LA and the temp variation per day is pretty extreme. I'm currently wearing a 16600t Sea Dweller and the lack of adjustability of the bracelet is challenging unless I wear the watch with an extra link. First world problems. Again, really fun video. I bought this watch and have a 7.5" wrist and was concerned about the size as well. I'm used to wearing an Omega Seamaster that's 42mm so this does look and feel small to me. It's not too small and looks great but I'm just not used to it. Thickness and weight are my two favorite aspects of the watch. Light weight watches seem to feel cheap to me and this has a nice heft. Hope this helps.
Knowing that the 1655 is basically made of unobtainium for me, I'm quite pleased with my BB Pro. I've always loved Tudor, having owned the Pelagos, BB and Homeplate chrono over the years. This watch ticks all the boxes for me, gorgeous looks, great in house movement (over the past 30 days combined mine is +12sec), perfect fit (personally) as well as the upgraded quick adjust clasp. I wear watches for me, nobody and I mean nobody ever notices the watch I'm wearing. My advise to everyone when buying a watch, buy what YOU like, not what you think will impress others.
Great comment, I tell folks the same. Nobody is likely to notice your watch, so wear/buy what YOU like. I wear my watches in my house sometimes as I’m hanging out watching movies, just to enjoy them. BB Pro can’t be beat.
@Boyka Unlimitted crown guards, shape of hour markers, titanium, all versions are made for use in water. Black Bays carry plenty of water resistance too, but the intended purpose is more fashion driven or more diverse than simply diving.
I've been a little checked out of the watch news for a while and you were going on about how its such big news. Then you started talking about the measurements and you flipped it over to the side and I was audibly surprised at how thick it was, followed by you telling me to relax and that we'd talk about the thickness later. Great video, got a few chuckles out of me.
Your video just made me about 4K poorer today. I’ve never been a field / outdoorsy watch kinda guy but I love the BB Pro. I fell in love with how good it feels on the wrist. It is probably the most comfortable modern 200+m WR watch I’ve ever had. That’s what sealed the deal for me. I have a 7inch wrist with meaty arms and and I it looks refined. For those still wondering whether the thickness is an issue on the wrist? Lemme just share this: it feels very similar to an SKX on the wrist. Chunky? Sure, yeah. Comfortable? VERY much so! Agree with the video though, it is not an Explorer replacement. It’s it’s own thing. A modern, vintage inspired, 200m WR GMT watch that is super comfortable on the wrist.
You absolutely nailed it - fully agree with all of it. I have the Pro and it’s a great value, should be thinner but it’s not an issue (even on my 6.25” wrists), and I DID cross shop this with the Pepsi Tudor and Rolex 16570. I even have the orange seiko gmt too 😂 AND I have been saying for many months that they should do this with a white fully luminous dial with black markers/local hands and an ice blue 24 hour hand.
I bought the BBP over a year ago and am very happy. The bracelet, accuracy, clasp, and value are all excellent. As for the thickness? I have had a 16600 (Sea-Dweller) since 2001 and put a caliper on both. They are the exact same thickness-basically the same in every dimension. The case is thinner on the SD, and the case back is thicker.
Love your style of review. Your videography, the details of spec shown in text, wrist shot from varies distance and most importantly the stand up comedy style narration puts a smile on my face all the time. Back to the BB Pro and to be fair the doomed crystal contributes 1 to 1.5mm thickness so actual case thickness is about 14mm. The Pelagos FXD and 39 can have reduced WR from 500 to 200 why not reduce the BB Pro WR to 100m to shave another 1 to 1.5mm and Tudor can have my money.
best video on the BB Pro in UA-cam by 14:54 minutes. Perfect. Perfect video for an -almost- perfect watch which I enjoy every single day since last June. If the new Explorer would have been a 39mm case from the first place, then the BBPro would have never being bought but we can all have dreams.
I'm a huge proponent of thin watches, its one of the main considerations when I look at a new watch and I certainly balked at the girth of the Pro, until I tried it on. Its not thin, its big-boned but it isn't out of proportion on the wrist either. I was surprised how well it wore however I would personally and would advise that you get it on the bracelet. It balances it pretty well.
My problem was glancing down at it while wearing a T shirt and just seeing those stark gigantic walls of the case- as if what's inside is something really spectacular requiring a huge amount of space- only to realize its just a basic GMT that companies for over 30 years have been producing 3mm thinner. Baffling how and why Tudor thought this was acceptable imo. Its a shame because to me its the best looking watch release of the last several years and a totally iconic dial design and handset.
I was actually wearing my Aqua Terra while watching. I had to pause while I took it off to look. I had no idea it was so thick. I’d tried it on, it looked good so I bought it. It looks about 10mm on my wrist. So there you go…my wrist. The Tudor Bb gmt looked enormous on me. We’re all different, who knew.
The Office quote alone gets the like! But in my recent GMT acquisition (I considered the various Tudor models and the Longines), I happily went with the GS SBGN003. It was like putting on Cinderella's glass slipper.
Small correction Tudor guarantees -2/+4 seconds per day: from the Tudor press kit: In fact, where COSC allows an average variation in the daily running of a watch of between -4 and +6 seconds in relation to absolute time in a single movement, TUDOR insists on between -2 and +4 seconds’ variation in its running when it is completely assembled.
Got my Tudor GMT Pepsi on Feb 11th. Set time to the second on Feb 12th.... and now on March 1st the watch is running less than a second off. It's an amazing watch.
The two potential problems I anticipated with the BB Pro are (a) the thickness and (b) the fake rivets. I can say that, as an owner, neither of those anticipated issues cause any concern whatsoever. Ever. But that's just me. BTW, Watchfinder posted a video today in which a rockstar says he prefers his BB Pro over his Explorer II. Hate to say it, but I agree with Mr. McVey. I wonder if he sold his Cartier Santos Medium...

Great video, as usual, and thanks for answering so many questions. I've bought more Tudor watches this year than I ever have, and that's for a couple of reasons. 1. Tudor is hitting a stride in making great value watches. I know you do point out the obvious; no one needs these things. However, watch collecting is different. :) 2. Their quality in design and build are hard for others to match. With Tudor rolling out Rolex-esque designs along with build quality and innovation, they are just fun to own. I really do think these next few years are going to be the time to buy Tudor watches because they are going to creep up in price and fit into the price point that Rolex is vacating.
I hole heartedly agree, also currently enjoy some Tudor but I kinda hope we’re wrong that we’ll continue to enjoy what Tudor role out at affordable price points. 👍

Agree Tudor is reviving its brand by going into Rolex’s back catalogue at affordable prices and also capitalising on the nostalgia obsessed watch buyers who would love to own vintage but priced out. For me, my BBPro scratched the 1655 itch at a fraction of the price. What’s there to lose
I initially scoffed at this watch due to the thickness, but kept getting pulled by the adjustable bracelet, nice clasp, and the overall design aesthetic. Also as a previous owner of the BB GMT Pepsi who sold it due to the 50mm lug to lug and thickness, I was more wary of quickly purchasing this watch. But when I finally got to try my friend’s BB Pro, the thickness is not really a big factor of concern at least for me. Also, being a lug to lug of 47 instead of the 50 made this Watch more wearable than the BB GMT for my 6.5in wrist. I’m now an owner of this watch and I’ve been enjoying this piece in my collection.
As a former owner of one, I'll throw my two cents out there in case anyone gives half a crap. (Though with how well-written the video was, I doubt anyone will care) Super comfortable. On the bracelet I could wear it on my 6.5" wrist for days on end, only popping it off to dry the backside after showering with it on. Kept insanely good time, YMMV. Fauxtina as a whole bothers me, but this wasn't "too" bad for the most part. The completely filled in hour hand looked off to me, like it was too skinny for it's length compared to the other Tudors I've had. While the thickness on its own was a non-issue for me, the proportions just felt wrong. Bit too thick for only a 39mm watch. That thickness on a 41 works, but for a 39... the best way I could describe it is that every time I went from looking at the dial, to it from the side I just heard the "BONK" sound effect. Ultimately, the only reason I say "former" owner is because every time I looked down, I wanted it to be an Explorer II, and it wasn't.

The Rolex 16570 was once a grail of mine but the price plus the now dated bracelet pushed me to getting a Tudor BB Pro and I couldn't be happier. I do see it as less than half the price, covered by warranty, and thoroughly modern vs the older Rolex reference. Great video!
The 16570 is getting cheaper again and can be had for around 7000$ so its a good deal as its a beautiful watch, with a vintage charm, a slim case that most modern watches can't beat, and its likely to go up in price again. So maybe a good moment to get one?
Tried on this black bay pro and Ranger today and very conflicted now...both offer the best of both worlds and, while I love the simplicity of the Ranger, the Pro imo offers more "watch" for the price. Any advice? I'm torn lol
I bought the BB Pro today. I was able to see it side by side with an Explorer II, which is a bit big on my wrist. I love the Tudor. I’m now retired and lucky to be able to travel. I’ve always wanted a true GMT but they are usually too large for me. This one is great. Some people may find it too thick but I think this is being blown out of proportion.
Neither the BB Pro or the Explorer I/II is my cup of tea but I can def appreciate this review and respect your opinion. Could the BB Pro replace the Explorer? Absolutely! But only if you, the buyer/wearer, thinks it can. Is it too thick? Only if you, the buyer, thinks so. I absolutely enjoy your content! Keep it up and best wishes in 2023! I relate to what you said about the Aqua Terra. I owned the 38mm and it was too thick for its diameter and style. Also had the 39.5 Planet Ocean and it’s more than 14mm thick. Hated every second of that experience. I’m without both now and trying to get an Explorer 1.
I have owned an Explorer for about 5 years(39mm) and is my daily wearer. Goes with a suit or a golf shirt and is just so well balanced. You won’t be disappointed.
My Tudor Pelagos is a tad thick, but with the all brushing on sides it’s fine, however with the Pro all polished sides they look like full length mirrors! If they could make it thinner I would all ready be wearing one.
I wonder why it's thick. The larger and more complex BB Chrono is only 14.4mm. On the rivets, they bothered me at first but I got over it quickly - thats for the BB Chrono, not the BBP.
I agree with the Chrono as also having one, i just find it bizarre that it sits higher visually than my Tudor gmt because the case sides aren’t finished the same. Great watch none the less if you handle the heft on the bracelet 😄
I loved the ending at 13:45, I really, really was hoping you actually just ended it like that. I will say I'm surprised you didn't mention the weird "stepped" taper of the bracelet. I've not seen that very much.
I bought my Balck Bay Pro on the grey market and then got the call for my Explorer 2 within days so the Rolex took its thunder. However, almost a year on, the BB Pro is a comfortable wear and I can forget I am wearing it. The BB Pro is stunning watch not withstanding the moans but the width and faux rivets fade into insignificance
Tudor in-house movement is -2/+4 spd, Longines GMT movement is based on ETA, means the hands are a bit jerky while adjusting time and date would change slower
Love the fact that you mentioned how you wear the Rolex to impress others but barely anyone notices them. This is so true in the real world today. 90% of people out there don’t really know what watch/model you’re wearing 😂
I agree with you about the Rolex vs Tudor. Tudor makes a fantastic watch! To me, it is still not a Rolex replacement. The Tudor will never scratch a Rolex itch if you are afflicted by that kind of itch.
Firstly, You have some of the best videos out there! Now the bad news, I’ve owned the Tudor BB Pro, GMT, Black Bay, Black Bay 58, all versions of the Pelagos including all colours versions, so that goes to show you how much I love Tudor in theory. Also, my wrist is 8.5” diameter, so my wrist can handle it big well proportioned watches. What I tell you is that even with my wrists, the proportions always seem a bit off in terms of thickness, weight, lug-to-lug and as a result, I just got rid of my last Tudor😢 Unfortunately, I believe that Tudor just won’t release the perfectly proportioned watch so it will always fall a bit short of it’s big brother and won’t be a perfect direct comparison.
I love this watch, would buy it in a minute... if it wasn't so thick.... also, do you really think of Tudor as higher on the pecking order than Longines?? To me they are both entry level luxury brands in the $2000 - $5000 range with value for money as their core mission statement.

The video started with me wanting to call you Edward Jade, then you came back to us, kind of. I know, it's tough out there man. I love this crazy BBP despite of, and maybe because of, its thickness. It looks so cool. On the hunt now.
As a longtime fan of the Explorer 2 it just looks too short and stubby. I was in the market for a GMT and just picked up the Longines Zulu with the green bezel and on the strap. I couldn’t be happier. It’s 14mm thick but it visually looks balanced(feels comfortable too). If I was going to go Tudor for a GMT I’d get the BB GMT Pepsi.
I was so torn between the BBP and the BBGMT Pepsi, after viewing many times in the store I went with the Pepsi, it pops more, and the BBP hands paint job is really painful to see.
explorer 2 is vastly superior to the BBP, but unfortunately the EXP2 is not available while BBP is readily available for purchase. make the compromise? only you can make that call.
@@YoureTerrific fit and finish, thickness, bracelet comfort, weight... pretty much every measurable aspect. at least that's the case when compared to the 42mm exp2, I cannot say the same for old Rolex like the 40mm exp2. I have both so I am able to say that definitively. you obviously agree, because neither you or I plan to add the BBP to our collections, yet we both have the exp2.

Great review! I tried this on and I felt like it’s just tooooo safe. Toooo likable or something. It’s probably a great for a one watch collection but does not do anything that really sets it apart from other watches. I’m hoping they come out with some other variations. We’ll see 😮
I think at 39mm case size the 15mm case height is a feature, not a bug. The 39x15 proportion gives it character and presence. For comparison, I’d say the same of the SKX013. I’m a big fan of the BBP.
The TBB Pro is nice but why the 24 written on the bezel? There is no such thing as 24 o'clock. After 23:59 it goes to 0:00. Almost all the high priced luxury watches do not have 24. There is no logic for 24. Otherwise it is a nice watch, though a bit thick.
Great video of the Tudor Black Bay Pro. I have a BB58 Blue, but this BBP is very interesting, especially with the adjustability of the bracelet (which I don't have on my BB58). And it may not be Rolex, but it's very Rolex-esque in design, which is great! People say not to compare Tudor to Rolex because you may be disappointed in buying the "little brother" if you really wanted a Rolex. But, there's no doubting the similarities in some of these sport watches! And Tudor has some advantages over Rolex to include "not" having the Rolex marketing baggage and certainly being in a much more affordable price point! Also, I think you can wear a Tudor with less worry of someone trying to rip it off your arm, particularly if you found yourself in a less desirable area in public. So there are definite advantages of owning a Tudor over a Rolex!
Your comments about the Aquaterra being a tad thick echo my own feelings about mine. The Explorer 2 comparison is the logical one but I think a more informative comparison is the Christopher Ward Sealander GMT. I love how slim mine is and every time I put it on I wish my Aquaterra was that slim.
My grail used to be the polar exp2 red 226750 but I couldn't justify the near 10K price and didn't want to wait a year or more if I did have the money. So I got the pro and honestly couldn't be happier. The black and yellow combo is killer and so are the ceramic lume plot indices. Also T-FIT makes it a better bracelet in my opinion. It's an all out no-nonsense tool watch. Nobody needs indices and hands coated in white gold for exploring, even tho that is nice. But the pro is insane value for money. And I'm the thickness is actually 14.6mm but it still wears not as thick as my iwc Pilot's Chronograph 41 which is 14.5mm thick. I think it's cuz the iwc is literally all case and a hockey puck while the pro has the domed/boxed glass then the tapered steel bezel, followed by the mid case, so the different sized layers makes it feel less thick to me than the Pilot's Chronograph 41. And the 39mm case is just great.
I'm happy for you. The Pro is very like the Explorer II. Two comments for you: (1) there is a huge difference in size/presence between a 39mm Pro and a 42mm 226750 - I feel watches are a bit like shoes, you need to get the size right for your wrist, so I'm surprised you feel it's fine to swap out your grail for a smaller watch. (2) I have the Polar 226750, and would encourage you to keep it on your radar - it is my favorite daily wear, and I have more expensive options. If you have a wrist to do it justice, ideally 7.5 to 8 inch, then it will be a better watch to own than you can imagine before having it. Don't dismiss it, now that you have your Pro.
@@jackominty3633 so I'm all the smaller wrists size between 6.25 to 6.5 so the pro actually does wear better for me than the 42mm exp2. And I recently received the blue fluted motif DJ36 which became my grail after I moved on from lusting over the polar exp2.
Great review! I know you aren't a fan of BB58s, but I love my blue Basic Bit... I mean Black Bay 58. Wears like an old pair of jeans and they're ubiquitous for a reason. I really want a 16570 white dial, but it's going to be hard to keep saving if they come out with a white dial BB Pro. Edit. Not because I think the BB Pro is a replacement, but because I like it better, except I wish it was thinner and available in a white dial. Tudor just appeals to my design sensibilities more. I just love snowflake hands and unguarded crowns. Fauxtina sucks though.

Had this watch. Everything about it was great except the weight (personal preference) and actually I had trouble reading the numbers on the GMT bezel at a glance. I’m 47 though so maybe that’s it.
Sold mine black bay pro after owning it for 6 months. Got offered the Pelagos 39 from my AD and it’s just so much nicer to wear. Thinner and obviously weights a lot less being titanium. 😊
Nice balanced review. I have one, (and a BB 58) and really like it. I also much prefer Tudor over Rolex these days - my 16610 subbie has not been worn for about 10 years.......Gonna ditch it and replace it with a Pelagos 39, I think.

@16.45 100% AT is too thick, make it 11mm. How did they make the 2531.80 11mm when its 300m water resistance? Sure, the current AT has co-ax but I'm sure they can slim it down...
@@timemycollection I see the point you're making but it's somewhat of a false equivalence. The value of a mechanical watch comes from the time and expertise required to build and design such a complicate device. I'd argue that many mechanical movements are downright pieces of art! A quartz watch on the other hand (whilst superior in some respects) simply doesn't require the same amount of effort to design. They're much cheaper and faster to produce and aren't as appealing to look at. Apples and oranges I suppose. I couldn't justify spending over £100 on a quartz watch myself. GS do make some very attractive quartz pieces I will admit and the you get a very similar end product on the whole. I hope you enjoy your new watch!

You absolutely nailed it - fully agree with all of it. I have the Pro and it’s a great value, should be thinner but it’s not an issue (even on my 6.25” wrists), and I DID cross shop this with the Pepsi Tudor and Rolex 16570. I even have the orange seiko gmt too 😂 AND I have been saying for many months that they should do this with a white fully luminous dial with black markers/local hands and an ice blue 24 hour hand.

I bought the BBP over a year ago and am very happy. The bracelet, accuracy, clasp, and value are all excellent. As for the thickness? I have had a 16600 (Sea-Dweller) since 2001 and put a caliper on both. They are the exact same thickness-basically the same in every dimension. The case is thinner on the SD, and the case back is thicker.
Love your style of review. Your videography, the details of spec shown in text, wrist shot from varies distance and most importantly the stand up comedy style narration puts a smile on my face all the time. Back to the BB Pro and to be fair the doomed crystal contributes 1 to 1.5mm thickness so actual case thickness is about 14mm. The Pelagos FXD and 39 can have reduced WR from 500 to 200 why not reduce the BB Pro WR to 100m to shave another 1 to 1.5mm and Tudor can have my money.

I'm a huge proponent of thin watches, its one of the main considerations when I look at a new watch and I certainly balked at the girth of the Pro, until I tried it on. Its not thin, its big-boned but it isn't out of proportion on the wrist either. I was surprised how well it wore however I would personally and would advise that you get it on the bracelet. It balances it pretty well.
My problem was glancing down at it while wearing a T shirt and just seeing those stark gigantic walls of the case- as if what's inside is something really spectacular requiring a huge amount of space- only to realize its just a basic GMT that companies for over 30 years have been producing 3mm thinner. Baffling how and why Tudor thought this was acceptable imo. Its a shame because to me its the best looking watch release of the last several years and a totally iconic dial design and handset.
I was actually wearing my Aqua Terra while watching. I had to pause while I took it off to look. I had no idea it was so thick. I’d tried it on, it looked good so I bought it. It looks about 10mm on my wrist. So there you go…my wrist. The Tudor Bb gmt looked enormous on me. We’re all different, who knew.
The Office quote alone gets the like! But in my recent GMT acquisition (I considered the various Tudor models and the Longines), I happily went with the GS SBGN003. It was like putting on Cinderella's glass slipper.
Small correction Tudor guarantees -2/+4 seconds per day: from the Tudor press kit: In fact, where COSC allows an average variation in the daily running of a watch of between -4 and +6 seconds in relation to absolute time in a single movement, TUDOR insists on between -2 and +4 seconds’ variation in its running when it is completely assembled.

Got my Tudor GMT Pepsi on Feb 11th. Set time to the second on Feb 12th.... and now on March 1st the watch is running less than a second off. It's an amazing watch.

The two potential problems I anticipated with the BB Pro are (a) the thickness and (b) the fake rivets. I can say that, as an owner, neither of those anticipated issues cause any concern whatsoever. Ever. But that's just me. BTW, Watchfinder posted a video today in which a rockstar says he prefers his BB Pro over his Explorer II. Hate to say it, but I agree with Mr. McVey. I wonder if he sold his Cartier Santos Medium...

Great video, as usual, and thanks for answering so many questions. I've bought more Tudor watches this year than I ever have, and that's for a couple of reasons.
1. Tudor is hitting a stride in making great value watches. I know you do point out the obvious; no one needs these things. However, watch collecting is different. :)
2. Their quality in design and build are hard for others to match. With Tudor rolling out Rolex-esque designs along with build quality and innovation, they are just fun to own.
I really do think these next few years are going to be the time to buy Tudor watches because they are going to creep up in price and fit into the price point that Rolex is vacating.
I hole heartedly agree, also currently enjoy some Tudor but I kinda hope we’re wrong that we’ll continue to enjoy what Tudor role out at affordable price points. 👍

I initially scoffed at this watch due to the thickness, but kept getting pulled by the adjustable bracelet, nice clasp, and the overall design aesthetic. Also as a previous owner of the BB GMT Pepsi who sold it due to the 50mm lug to lug and thickness, I was more wary of quickly purchasing this watch. But when I finally got to try my friend’s BB Pro, the thickness is not really a big factor of concern at least for me. Also, being a lug to lug of 47 instead of the 50 made this Watch more wearable than the BB GMT for my 6.5in wrist.
I’m now an owner of this watch and I’ve been enjoying this piece in my collection.

As a former owner of one, I'll throw my two cents out there in case anyone gives half a crap. (Though with how well-written the video was, I doubt anyone will care)
Super comfortable. On the bracelet I could wear it on my 6.5" wrist for days on end, only popping it off to dry the backside after showering with it on. Kept insanely good time, YMMV. Fauxtina as a whole bothers me, but this wasn't "too" bad for the most part. The completely filled in hour hand looked off to me, like it was too skinny for it's length compared to the other Tudors I've had. While the thickness on its own was a non-issue for me, the proportions just felt wrong. Bit too thick for only a 39mm watch. That thickness on a 41 works, but for a 39... the best way I could describe it is that every time I went from looking at the dial, to it from the side I just heard the "BONK" sound effect.
Ultimately, the only reason I say "former" owner is because every time I looked down, I wanted it to be an Explorer II, and it wasn't.

The Rolex 16570 was once a grail of mine but the price plus the now dated bracelet pushed me to getting a Tudor BB Pro and I couldn't be happier. I do see it as less than half the price, covered by warranty, and thoroughly modern vs the older Rolex reference. Great video!
The 16570 is getting cheaper again and can be had for around 7000$ so its a good deal as its a beautiful watch, with a vintage charm, a slim case that most modern watches can't beat, and its likely to go up in price again. So maybe a good moment to get one?

Tried on this black bay pro and Ranger today and very conflicted now...both offer the best of both worlds and, while I love the simplicity of the Ranger, the Pro imo offers more "watch" for the price. Any advice? I'm torn lol
I bought the BB Pro today. I was able to see it side by side with an Explorer II, which is a bit big on my wrist. I love the Tudor. I’m now retired and lucky to be able to travel. I’ve always wanted a true GMT but they are usually too large for me. This one is great. Some people may find it too thick but I think this is being blown out of proportion.
Neither the BB Pro or the Explorer I/II is my cup of tea but I can def appreciate this review and respect your opinion. Could the BB Pro replace the Explorer? Absolutely! I relate to what you said about the Aqua Terra. I owned the 38mm and it was too thick for its diameter and style. Also had the 39.5 Planet Ocean and it’s more than 14mm thick. Hated every second of that experience. I’m without both now and trying to get an Explorer 1.

I have owned an Explorer for about 5 years(39mm) and is my daily wearer. Goes with a suit or a golf shirt and is just so well balanced. You won’t be disappointed.
My Tudor Pelagos is a tad thick, but with the all brushing on sides it’s fine, however with the Pro all polished sides they look like full length mirrors! If they could make it thinner I would all ready be wearing one.

I wonder why it's thick. The larger and more complex BB Chrono is only 14.4mm. On the rivets, they bothered me at first but I got over it quickly - thats for the BB Chrono, not the BBP.
I agree with the Chrono as also having one, i just find it bizarre that it sits higher visually than my Tudor gmt because the case sides aren’t finished the same. Great watch none the less if you handle the heft on the bracelet 😄

I bought my Balck Bay Pro on the grey market and then got the call for my Explorer 2 within days so the Rolex took its thunder. However, almost a year on, the BB Pro is a comfortable wear and I can forget I am wearing it. The BB Pro is stunning watch not withstanding the moans but the width and faux rivets fade into insignificance

Tudor in-house movement is -2/+4 spd, Longines GMT movement is based on ETA, means the hands are a bit jerky while adjusting time and date would change slower

I agree with you about the Rolex vs Tudor. Tudor makes a fantastic watch! To me, it is still not a Rolex replacement. The Tudor will never scratch a Rolex itch if you are afflicted by that kind of itch.

Firstly, You have some of the best videos out there! Now the bad news, I’ve owned the Tudor BB Pro, GMT, Black Bay, Black Bay 58, all versions of the Pelagos including all colours versions, so that goes to show you how much I love Tudor in theory. Also, my wrist is 8.5” diameter, so my wrist can handle it big well proportioned watches. What I tell you is that even with my wrists, the proportions always seem a bit off in terms of thickness, weight, lug-to-lug and as a result, I just got rid of my last Tudor😢 Unfortunately, I believe that Tudor just won’t release the perfectly proportioned watch so it will always fall a bit short of it’s big brother and won’t be a perfect direct comparison.

As a longtime fan of the Explorer 2 it just looks too short and stubby. I was in the market for a GMT and just picked up the Longines Zulu with the green bezel and on the strap. I couldn’t be happier. It’s 14mm thick but it visually looks balanced(feels comfortable too). If I was going to go Tudor for a GMT I’d get the BB GMT Pepsi.

explorer 2 is vastly superior to the BBP, but unfortunately the EXP2 is not available while BBP is readily available for purchase. make the compromise? only you can make that call.

I have both so I am able to say that definitively. you obviously agree, because neither you or I plan to add the BBP to our collections, yet we both have the exp2.

I think at 39mm case size the 15mm case height is a feature, not a bug. The 39x15 proportion gives it character and presence. For comparison, I’d say the same of the SKX013. I’m a big fan of the BBP.

The TBB Pro is nice but why the 24 written on the bezel? There is no such thing as 24 o'clock. After 23:59 it goes to 0:00. Almost all the high priced luxury watches do not have 24. There is no logic for 24. Otherwise it is a nice watch, though a bit thick.

Great video of the Tudor Black Bay Pro. I have a BB58 Blue, but this BBP is very interesting, especially with the adjustability of the bracelet (which I don't have on my BB58). And it may not be Rolex, but it's very Rolex-esque in design, which is great! People say not to compare Tudor to Rolex because you may be disappointed in buying the "little brother" if you really wanted a Rolex. But, there's no doubting the similarities in some of these sport watches! And Tudor has some advantages over Rolex to include "not" having the Rolex marketing baggage and certainly being in a much more affordable price point! Also, I think you can wear a Tudor with less worry of someone trying to rip it off your arm, particularly if you found yourself in a less desirable area in public. So there are definite advantages of owning a Tudor over a Rolex!
I have to admit, the recent Tudor releases are really nice. A step up for sure from all the previous garbage they’ve regurgitated out.
Your comments about the Aquaterra being a tad thick echo my own feelings about mine. The Explorer 2 comparison is the logical one but I think a more informative comparison is the Christopher Ward Sealander GMT. I love how slim mine is and every time I put it on I wish my Aquaterra was that slim.

My grail used to be the polar exp2 red 226750 but I couldn't justify the near 10K price and didn't want to wait a year or more if I did have the money. So I got the pro and honestly couldn't be happier. The black and yellow combo is killer and so are the ceramic lume plot indices. Also T-FIT makes it a better bracelet in my opinion. It's an all out no-nonsense tool watch. Nobody needs indices and hands coated in white gold for exploring, even tho that is nice. But the pro is insane value for money. And I'm the thickness is actually 14.6mm but it still wears not as thick as my iwc Pilot's Chronograph 41 which is 14.5mm thick. I think it's cuz the iwc is literally all case and a hockey puck while the pro has the domed/boxed glass then the tapered steel bezel, followed by the mid case, so the different sized layers makes it feel less thick to me than the Pilot's Chronograph 41. And the 39mm case is just great.
I'm happy for you. The Pro is very like the Explorer II. Two comments for you: (1) there is a huge difference in size/presence between a 39mm Pro and a 42mm 226750 - I feel watches are a bit like shoes, you need to get the size right for your wrist, so I'm surprised you feel it's fine to swap out your grail for a smaller watch. (2) I have the Polar 226750, and would encourage you to keep it on your radar - it is my favorite daily wear, and I have more expensive options. If you have a wrist to do it justice, ideally 7.5 to 8 inch, then it will be a better watch to own than you can imagine before having it. Don't dismiss it, now that you have your Pro.
@@jackominty3633 so I'm all the smaller wrists size between 6.25 to 6.5 so the pro actually does wear better for me than the 42mm exp2. And I recently received the blue fluted motif DJ36 which became my grail after I moved on from lusting over the polar exp2.
Great review! I know you aren't a fan of BB58s, but I love my blue Basic Bit... I mean Black Bay 58. Wears like an old pair of jeans and they're ubiquitous for a reason. I really want a 16570 white dial, but it's going to be hard to keep saving if they come out with a white dial BB Pro. Edit. Not because I think the BB Pro is a replacement, but because I like it better, except I wish it was thinner and available in a white dial. Tudor just appeals to my design sensibilities more. I just love snowflake hands and unguarded crowns. Fauxtina sucks though.

Nice balanced review. I have one, (and a BB 58) and really like it. I also much prefer Tudor over Rolex these days - my 16610 subbie has not been worn for about 10 years.......Gonna ditch it and replace it with a Pelagos 39, I think.

The value of a mechanical watch comes from the time and expertise required to build and design such a complicate device. I'd argue that many mechanical movements are downright pieces of art!
A quartz watch on the other hand (whilst superior in some respects) simply doesn't require the same amount of effort to design. They're much cheaper and faster to produce and aren't as appealing to look at.

I couldn't justify spending over £100 on a quartz watch myself. GS do make some very attractive quartz pieces I will admit and the you get a very similar end product on the whole.
