Dude! I'm new to the whole Jeep thing. I bought a 02 WJ and thought the transfer case was failing from the symptoms you described. I was looking up salvage ones and how fix and watched this just for the education on fluid. Now I realize what the problem is and ordered a couple bottles(I didn't know you needed to do regular transfer case fluid changes). You described the quadra trac operation in a way I could understand. Thank you!!! Subscribed and followed.

I have an 04' with the QuadraDrive. Did my transfer case today. Thanks to you Martin, very easy!!! The fluid didnt look too bad coming out. A medium brown color as it poured, but darker in the pan. None of the Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge dealers near me had the correct fluid. I had to order from Amazon. Differentials are next!

Hi guys I have I have a 4.7HO in the UK. Genuine Mopar NV247 fluid is not readily available at our dealerships anymore as they are reluctant to buy it in, in bulk because of lack of demand or so dealership told me. I can get it off eBay costing £55 for x2 bottles but I have recently discovered Crown Automotive do a version TCL-1 and I can get that for £25for x2 bottles over here.
Anyone have any experience with the Crown fluid?
I only ask because the previous owner has had the fluid changed at an independent Jeep service garage (he is ex main Jeep dealer mechanic) and has refilled with a type of universal tractor oil and I have a front axle hop when turning on full lock on loose surfaces but not so much on tarmac, so I want to swap it out ASAP to avoid damaging my transfer case as the hopping is a possible symptom of incorrect fluid.
Found out today that for the UK at least, Petronas took over production and supply of the Mopar NV 247 transfer case fluid (Petronas Tutela powergear4 SAE 80w) as Fiat stop importing the Mopar variant when they took over Chrysler. Anyone know if it’s the same formulation or had any experience with this product?
Finally a Jeep parts specialist in the UK has advised me that 1/2 quart of friction modifier should be added to the transfer case fluid when refilling, is this correct? Not heard anyone else mention this on the web.
    Any advice appreciated.
