Hey what were those spacers that you put on to run dual tires because I have a single wheel 3500hd duramax and I want to run duals because im getting a welding bed
Little suggestion guys !! Round House Bib Overalls !! Made in U.S.A. You don't have to worry about your pants falling down a.k.a. PLUMBERS CRACK !@ Also plus is you have EXPANSION JOINTS on the sides if you eat too much T-Bone steaks workin PIPELINES !!! ✌✌✌ KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK GUYS !!
The issue with this dually kit is the geometry of the bearing load is not centered after adding the spacer. Short term ok, but long term won’t hold up over time.
Aren’t the factory front ends the same width but have spacers for the duallies? Or are the new trucks different? The rear shouldn’t matter at all. The 05 Chevy 3500 I maintain has spacers on the front wheel bearings to make it a dually from the factory. You should be just fine.
Actually, some factory GMs do use spacers on the factory front hubs. When you take into account for the backspacing on the wheels, the spacer doesn't add anymore outside force to the bearings since the inner wheel sits about where the original did.
This the first vid I have seen using the Arrowcraft kit. How do you like them? I recently did this on my 2013 F250 diesel 4x4 to give me more stability towing my 40' toy hauler. I only did the rears on mine as I like the 7 1/2" wheels that came on my truck . They are able to use a bigger tire. I machined out the mounting holes in one of my stock rims to fit over the lug shoulders on the adapters.
can you go over the reason you put dually's on? probsbly stupid question. just for the extra weight I guess. I have a 3/4 ton gmc seirra 2015 with single tire in the rear. I wonder if I'd need the dually's if I get a rig set up?
Hey Jacob, I am just curious on how the dually conversion is holding up? I'm getting ready to build another rig out of a 96 Dodge 3/4 ton. Haven't decided if I'm going to do the dually conversion with 20" wheels running 33's, or make it a single wheel rig. We own a welding company, and I hardly make it out in the field anymore, so this rig is basically going to be a weld rig/show truck for both welding and advertising.
I have a ram 3500 srw. Wanting to put the drw kit on. I’m wondering why you swapped the front tires? I carry a vantage 300, about 400 feet of cable, plus 4 cylinders and all my hand tools.
learn how to do the over and under for your torch hose you will never have a tangled hose .....like your welding caps where do you order them from thanks
Trucks look awesome! Just curious If you have a tool list or video that will help someone wanting to go into pipeline welding... put their own Rig together.... so we have a good idea of what inventory for consumables, hand tools, as well as any recommendations on brands or special features we might wanna look out for. I finish welding school in 6ish months and I wanna start setting myself up.
Any idea what the running weight of this truck will be? Does this Chevy run the same rear axle, 3/4 and 1 ton? Enjoying the videos, thank you for sharing.
Larry DeOrnellas yes GM runs the same axle in the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. 11.5in AAM, at least for the diesels some of the gas 2500hds have smaller axles. But they have different hubs on them for single and dual rear wheels.
That kit is absolutely badass. For $179 more get the dewalt 20v 1/2 impact gun you’ll never use a tire iron again. I keep it in my truck for a flat. Trucks coming out great can’t wait to see it done. Boooooyaa
Welding Junkie or buy the dewalt elec ac/dc impact might be a little bit heavier but most guys that run rigs have a cord and can just string it out fire off the machine and get the job done
Did you weld any gussets/reinforcement on your axles? I want to do the same thing for a truck camper/utility bed on my 2001 Ram 2500 cummings and wasnt sure if the reinforcement is needed.
Ya bought 6 rims but what about the spare ? Wouldn’t ya need matching Alcoa rims as a spare ? Looks good though . I have a 2008 Duramax and I wanna do Hot Shot with a 40’ Gooseneck flatbed trailer .
Where did you get your spacers for your truck I just have the same truck but mine is a GMC Sierra 2500hd ... I was wanting to do that.. so I can build the bed for the truck and pulling a fifth-wheel
I'm thinking about taking my welding mobile with a generator and a couple of my everlast welders. I can't wait until my business grows to where I need a dually truck.
Yeah you can get these adapters for 400 dollars if you have a dodge you have to get the ford adapters otherwise the dodge adapters won’t work You have to machine in the middle
You livin in colorado still? Im workin in Windsor off of i25, I roll up from cheyenne. I have an 03 chevy 2500 HD and im thinking of doin the same thing, seems like it'll hold up
Hey jacob, i appreciate your videos! I have a couple questions as I am trying to do this conversion on the same truck. You mentioned the spacers where 2.5" thick? Most of them I find online are 2" but aren't really advertised for doing this conversion per say. Did you need the full 2.5"? Or could you of got away with using 2"? Also does the front use the same thickness spacer?
If your 2500 has outboard axles meaning you can take the bolts out and pull the axles out without taking the brake assemblies off that all you need is the factory dual wheels dual rims and tires and they will bolt right on I did half a dozen trucks that way the only time that you've got to use the other stuff as if you got like a light duty Chevrolet or a light duty Dodge that has got a axles that you have to go inside the rear end and pull the clips out to remove
i got the exact same truck, and i don't know (it's not 4x4) if i shuold just lift it a couple of " and put some monster offroad wheels on it or make it dually, i would love to make it dually, but i just don't know where to start on the bed, how much you think you'll spend on gettin' it all done?!
What’s the name of the song that starts at 3:23 i’ve been hearing it often and I don’t know the name of it can someone please let me know what it is?! I’d really appreciate it! thank you!
According to Rockauto, rear rotors for a 2001 3500hd drw are 12.8", for srw they're 13", both are dual piston calipers front and rear (front rotors are the same for both at 12.8"). What brake upgrade do you recommend? They could add a single leaf to the springpack and have the same rear suspension as a 1 ton, but that wouldn't really be worth it.
@Chet Carson Wow, guess my comment got removed. Not typing it all out again, but being as intelligent as you are, please share with us how you would upgrade the 13" rear brakes on your NBS 2500HD. You should have plenty of experience upgrading brakes with how terrible they are on the OBS trucks, with "restoring" it and all. We look forward to your insight.
I won't tell my 2" aluminum spacers, that have been between my duals for 300,000 miles and countless tons of equipment and debris hauled, they should have caused catastrophic failure by now. Shhhhhhhhh
If you want a dually buy a dually ... LOL ... At 5:56 is that as tight as you tightened those lug nuts I have a 3500 dodge dually I torque to 150 .. And where you at where there isn't mountains period even in the distance , not even an ant hill ..

The issue with this dually kit is the geometry of the bearing load is not centered after adding the spacer. Short term ok, but long term won’t hold up over time.
Yea they just need to do an axle swap. They know how to weld and fab some so they should be able to do it themselves
