Hey, watch all your videos very interested in getting started in the type of work you do. Currently attending a welding trade school. What do I need to do to prepare myself for getting out into the pipe welding life? Eventually I want to buy a truck and rig it out as well.

I've got a question.... How long do you guys get out of an engine drive machine? (ie, between using it to actually weld, power your tools and run the microwave during winter lunchtime, how many hours a day do you generally put on the machine?)

Ya well at least these pipeline guys are dry. Try laying in a muddy hole at 2:00 am in January wedged in a shoring box 15’ underground welding on 60 year old CMLC pipe that was 1/8” thick when it was new. Meanwhile 200 people don’t have water cause you had to isolate an entire area and people keep coming out complaining. Everyone is waiting on the welder. No pressure. Water guys get no love. Everyone thinks cause it’s water it ain’t important or dangerous. I’d much rather do that new pipeline even in the snow.
