There’s a fascinating effect of the commentary and exposure of popular cards, fuelling more collectors entering the market, who then drive even higher prices, creating more commentary and exposure… and so on. There’s a phenomenon I call the Scarcity-Value Flywheel that helps explain this a bit. But, either way, I agree with you: nothing suspicious here 😂
Pumpers do be pumpin' tho Btw, as an eBay addict, I can confirm that pumpers 100% do this, and they even use the exact same pics of the cards. I can go into way too much detail about this as I've got several hundred completed eBay purchases since getting in the hobby.
new collectors gonna be broke by the time prismatic comes around at this point because we dont get another main set for almost 6 months and its not like surging is a holiday set with no boosters lol people are wild
As admirable a thing it is to see you ring the alarm to try and warn noobs about what is happening here, I think there are now so many irrational people in the hobby, your warning will fall on deaf ears. I say let them be. Live and learn. It will be the best medicine for them in the long run.
Something i am fine paying 50 more, if i get clear pictures and know for sure the card is in mint condition. When you want to send it for grading, 50 more is not a problem.
Sure, 1 out of 10 might have photos, lol. I've seen the same market manipulation happen many times over the years. This is one of those Cases. Recently there were sold listings for $600, then it dropped to $420 for a bit and then up again to $650. This is blatantly shilling being done, while also hiding behind the facade of demand and hype. Pokemon cards do not see a $200 plus sell difference in a day unless it's shilling, aka market manipulation.
I would completely agree if this was on eBay, don't get me wrong. But in this case, the TCG player is very well known to have a market manipulation problem, unfortunately. 👍
I think SS will get restocked before Christmas. There's no way PCI released everything they had already printed and run the risk that Junior doesn't get his Pokémon cards for Christmas. If that happens, expect this card to go back down to greninja levels (300ish dollars). I think PCI did a soft stagger to try and drive prices back up to MSRP. People forget that 160 is MSRP, not 100. I bet you GameStop is going to miraculously find 1000s of pallets right before Black Friday. Being sold out of the new set for 2 months before Prismatic Evolutions comes out would be devastating both for PCI and GameStop.
It will for sure get reprinted, yeah. But even if it comes down, I think this whole pump will affect what could have been the price one way or the other, unfortunately
Factors which are causing the current market functions in Pokemon are: 1. Manipulation 2. Election in Republican's favor. 3. Pro crypto regulations (pending) 4. Crypto markets going higher and higher. People back in profits. 5. Supply issues. (Reprints will calm some but not all) 2020's hype but something is still different, different catalyst. Time will tell.
This isn't just an issue with the TCG but Pokemon as a whole. Prices for second hand pokemon games are absurdly high for no good reason. They're incredibly common with the lowest selling pokemon game still having 6 million copies sold globally and yet people insist these common titles are worth hundreds of dollars for... some reason. Pokemon is dead. The games are shit and prices for secondhand goods are blown way out of proportion by "investors" who literally just ruin the hobby for everyone else.
I kind of saw this coming. My prediction before the set came out was that it would get bought out in the beginning, rising to around 500, possibly even 600 and that in about a year or so, once the other sets came out (Eevee, Rocket, Battle Partners, ZA sets introducing Mega’s like Rayquaza and Charizard) that it would calm back down to around 200, maybe even under that. I’m hoping the card doesn’t grow anymore. I actually got lucky and pulled it 15 packs in, but I feel pretty bad for all the other collectors who want it as well. I know if I didn’t get lucky I’d be right there with them.
This is probably the worst artwork for a top-tier chase. Absolutely gross looking artwork in my opinion... so many better cards in the set. CROWNS 👑 ARE FOR CLOWNS 🤡
This isn’t even a boom, this is a new era that is driven by fantastic arts, tough pull rates, favorite pokemon with hyper rare variations, and people feeling like they have money to spend again. Go ahead and wait on this shit to start going down, please. Will be busy snatching this all up before the jumps REALLY start happening. 🤷♂️
I think the same thing. It's not that impressive. The Latias card is a way better card visually. A 2020 survey of 500,000 people asking for their favorite Pokemon didn't even have Pikachu in their top 15 so you can't even use Pikachu's popularity as a driving force. The price gains for this card are purely speculation. FOMO at its finest.
People are paying up for potential PSA 10 copies... How do you not understand that. It's not that hard. Your not gonna pay the same for a card that's not gonna grade gem mint... Why would you?
The listings that were $50 over the others had no photos lol. They have no way of knowing the condition aside from It's 'near mint.' Still doesn't explain why some 'buyer' would buy that instead of another, which is $50 cheaper. This is a very blatant sign of someone trying to drive up the price. Allegedly, of course🫡
Sorry for the confusion. I'm talking about eBay. I don't know why anyone buys from Tcg player anyways. Dumbest marketplace ever. Who buys something they can't see?
I imagine a bunch of the pumpers in a room or Reddit (poke investors page) just beating their chests like Matthew McConaughey in Wolf of Wall Street🤣
Dude this is so accurate
@ Prismatic Evolutions is going to be one wild ride😳
The easiest way to make pumped cards go down is if everyone collectively doesn't buy but unfortunately people are a bunch of silly billys

As many as I could with my college fund

Probably, but it's always good to at least try. Even if i only help one person understand what's going on, that's a win in my books 👍
@@RocSandyRespect.
This same shit happened with old video games, that's why when you try to find old games the price is ridiculous.
pulled it second try. video is on my channel and i didn't even know it was rare.
You got the Japanese version, which is still very expensive. It's around $200-250. Still congratulations dude

There were no pictures. It's tcgplayer not ebay
@@RocSandy the 350 one has right? I am from The Netherlands, so i work with cardmarket. There i just reach out to sellers for pictures. 😉

I think we will know soon enough when the psa 10 sells
It will end up around 100. The latias will be the top chase 👌 hopefully it deserves it
Hot take 👀
I actually have thought of this before. However, only long term. Like once we’re in the gen 10-11 era.
