Danya genuinely cementing himself among the greatest chess educators of all time. This series is everything an intermediate player like myself could ask for, and it's free... Once this masterclass is done one content idea could be to go over some particularly instructive games of the past and then play those positions out with subs of various levels (not in that order) in the style of "The amateurs mind" by other potential holder of that goat educator title IM Silman. Seeing the pitfalls of how each level thinks about subtle positions and contrasting that with how they are played at the highest level is an incredible method of instruction imo.
What a fantastic idea!

I agree
When Danya is teaching us: "Oh yes so clear"
When I'm playing solo: Blunder Blunder Blunder
omg same
You have to immediately go play a game before Danya wears off
This game is absolutely a good example of "when you see a good move, look for a better one".
Yes. Like when you find mate in one look for better 😁😉

Danya is so good, everything is methodical and it seems as if i could find it myself
Then I play and blunder everything
Let's go. I am so hyped to see more Vienna game.
man Danya's foot under the table is going wild this video.
Wdym?
Yea drivning me crazy
Yep it makes it very hard to watch
It's taking him so much effort to play and explain the moves this slow. Makes sense that hes antsy
Danya taps the table when he is focusing
5:26 “No, we don’t en passant”
Daniel, I love your videos, but you can’t just start spreading misinformation like this. En passant is always the strongest move
so funny...
it's forced, actually

@@yuridapted7459 Your humour is so broken that you laugh at jokes that are made everyday since 2 years.
En passant is GM tactics change my mind
This was one of the best and most educational games in the speedrun imo, I don't think I got a single move right. Thanks for the amazing content danya
When people ask what sets gm’s apart from strong intermediate players show them this. That opponent played extremely well and Daniel crushed him. Playing good moves and not making mistakes will get you this far but to go beyond that you need to look past the move you want to do for something better and more forcing. Great to watch
24:30 I agree with the message. Yours are the only educational chess videos that when I finish watching I feel like I understood literally everything what happened and what was said, every how and why. And then I can apply what I learned in my own games. Keep the good work please.
I find it amazing watching these games and how so often Daniel will seemingly always have his pieces on the perfect squares. It might not be for another 10 moves when that piece becomes active but it's always there and ready. Piece activity and proper placement is something I've noticed he really smashes into our heads and he does a great job explaining it. But the effective way he pulls it off is impressive.

*squints at Rooks trying to find a better move than R1f7#*
Yes! I wanted to learn this opening and you're my favorite chess channel for learning openings because you go so into depth and allow us to learn and guess moves as we watch!
I just reached 1800 after being stuck at 1700 for two months. Thanks for your videos Daniel! (Vienna OP)
Amazing, the humility and patience to answer even elementary questions from the audience
is always such a delight when there is a new episode daniel, thank you very much.
I cannot thank you enough for these videos. As someone that has been playing chess for about a year now, they have been instrumental not only in immediate improvement, but also bettering my understanding of moves. All the
Danya, brilliant as absolutely ever in this video. Spotting all the hidden moves that become blindingly obvious in hindsight.
My God what an elegant vocabulary you have Mr Naroditsky! "Reactionary"," burn bridges", "circumspect",etc, etc. What one gains here besides excellent chess...
This is the first time that I've listened to how Danya analyzes a game and I'm mindblown. I mean, I like Hikaru and Magnus but in teaching chess, Danya would be one of the GMs that I know that can easily discuss a position in an easy-to-understand manner. Kudos and continue doing this, Danya. I'm currently looking for videos on UA-cam that can help me improve in chess and I think, I found someone to follow here on UA-cam. Free content but can match some paid ones.
One of the best chess lessons I ever got. But man: the tapping on the table drives me nuts when using headphones😅
This man is a beast.
All "haha", some anecdotes, bit goofy...but then hits you with this vienna thing, striking relentlessly. Terrifying.
I found all the move because i play the viena myself. I used to improve with computer but also analysing many of my mistakes. I enjoyed every explanation also, you give every move a meaning. Thanks for the content
I love all of the My Cousin Vinny references Danya has made over the speedrun episodes. One of my all time favorite movies.
Another Vienna by Daniel! You just absolutely made my day! 😍
This game was such a great example! Absolutely love the Vienna! ❤
I really lol'd at "I am gonna just castle" as Hikaru says...
I just played a guy and I asked him if he watches you and he said "nah hes boring". So of course i had to teach him a lesson for disrespecting the prophet himself. I beat him and finally got to my highest rating of 1500 :)
Couldnt have done it without ya Danya.
Epic
I was so confident when I got my highest rating of 1760 that I actually asked my manager for a raise 😂 !!
Danya you are the Giant on which I stand. Thank you so much for this incredible content you are giving to us. Thank you
the sequence from 12:03 to checkmate is one of the most instructive chess lessons available for all - i can only recommend everyone spend a few extra minutes to watch a second time. Big thanks to Daniel for creating the content ✌️✌️
nice game ..!! its like the kings gambit with extra horse power. thanks Dan .
man im loving this series, specially around this ELO !
Simply fantastic. Stuning commentary!! Vav👍👍👍
One of the best chess videos i’ve ever watches
Daniel I love you man, thanks for making this series and for the content in general, keep it up. Please take a look at the tapping sound on the videos, it's hammering my concentration away and it gets awfully distracting. Once again, thank you for such an engaging and clear structure of teaching us.
Definitely one of my favorite videos so far.
Your chess explanations are superb. Thank you

Very good explanations. Ty for the vid
Fantastic video, thanks for sharing your insights.
"always look for a better move when you see a good one"
After hearing that advice I became a GM.
better explanations of strategy and tactics than other GM youtube videos. I'll be back...
so beautifully articulate ily daniel
most instructive youtuber
Look at how crushing this position is (evil giggle)!
Nice analysis Dan!! I love Paulsen variation more though. This game is insanely crushing for white based on every erroneous choice by black. Most of
Every one a gem. Love the Vienna, which Danya led me to.
You are actually the best chess teacher
I always like the video before watching....bcuz I literally know it's gonna be 👍👌
Please ulpload frequently ,I learn alot thank you!!
I'm late commenting and I wanted to before when you showed some positions that grandmasters got wrong. I've seen almost half your videos and think this is one of your best ones. I too laughed when the Vienna was so effective, and especially how the last moves played themselves after finding the pawn push with pin which was my first and only consideration. Instinct told me it was exceedingly good even before you suggested the knight could be taken.
Then you mentioned how playing specific moves because you know it's good one opening could be a problem. You mentioned the London. I understand why. I think the new people that got hooked good during the boom will ultimately become mainly London players.
Believing that, a casual player learning chess might want to study London crusher openings as black.
I've been reading "Mayhem in the Morra" by Marc Esserman. You are mentioned in the first chapter, Daniel. (It threw me off seeing "IM" Daniel Naroditsky) You uttered something along the lines of "Did you pretend you were thinking to trick me?" When he played e5 in the Siberian trap.
But thats all that is mentioned. Do you remember that game? Is there much value in a recap of that game? I have been enjoying the Smith-Morra and we dont get to see too much of it these days.
haha i also remember reading that and thinking "Wow that is cool"
that line is so fun for white, e5 Ng4, Bf4 a6, Nd6+ Bxd6, exd6 0-0, h3 Nf6, Ne5! that book is just filled with great examples of attacking play
Thank you GM Danya
This is my first time watching your video and I'm saying, you are the best.
Alright, absolutely amazing teacher. I feel like I got all the basics. Now I'm off to try out 10 Vienna games and loose 11 of them.
Great one!
day 31 of saying you're the best danya, thank you for the wickedly sweet content. You're one of the greatest chess instructors of all time. You may as well have an M.D. in chess. If you ever visit hawaii let me know so I can buy you some poke lol

I think the course I'm learning, after their dark squared bishop goes to b4 against the Vienna move order, it is better to transpose to pawn to d4 and attack the centre according to the engine.
Nice lesson.
Thanks for these videos dany
first video of the day good start
The position at 23:48 - I was going to turn into a flashcard since I thought it was such a cool uncommon plan, but it turns out the d5 e6 plan while looking good is not the best one. FEN: rn1q1rk1/1pp2ppn/1p1pb2p/4P3/2BP1B2/5N2/PPP3PP/R2Q1R1K w Qq - 1 2
5:26 I thought en passant was forced?
5:26 the way he reacts to the en passant comment jajaja
Very satisfying indeed!
How could someone dislike Danya's videos lol
this is amazing
After Bb4, I love going for Qg4 in the Vienna
I wonder what the average rating of Danya's viewers is. Some of the suggested moves from chat are very strong!
Anyone remember when GothamChess did a survey of his YT viewers' rating? I think it was averaging 800-1200 or so. I bet Danya's viewers are averaging higher :) Then again, Danya's content feels much more mature, so it wouldn't surprise me.
Mate I’m like 600
Also, not to diminish Levy, but a lot of his content (guess the Elo, playing hustlers, not all but much more) is more entertaining than instructive
Yes, we need a survey 8-)
Might be true. Im playing online between 2200 - 2300 rapid.
@@cameronhendricks5967 Agreed, his "how to win at chess" is much more instructive imo
Hey danya, could you please play a grunfeld? I dont think it has been played yet
I think there was one at the lower levels if I’m not just making that up or maybe it’s from a past speedrun. I think he probably doesn’t want to encourage it to
Danya: "His intentions are nakedly obvious"
Me: "Yes, of course" (Squinting at computer monitor)
Danya is just soo wholesome
we need more vienna games! really want to get it down

As they said, the threat is stronger than the execution... #moveorder
man awesome content! how about the dutch defense sometimes maybe?
This is what I use to fall asleep during these lonely times....
So.. you took my master class, and learned to make egg toast really good.
same
Perfect timing
So if after Bxc3, dxc3, Nxe5 (in the example scenario after white castles on move 6). then I was thinking Qd5 right away. Black has to play Nd6 to cover the checkmate and not lose his knight immediately. But Bxf4 and black crumbles. Daniel's Re1 is also very good and simpler, which is usually what I need. People crumble when you pressure them for sure.
The tapping of the mouse killed me but great video
Ah..The improved king's gambit..
Can anybody tell me roughly when danya usually streams these speed runs?
Went from a 400 to 829 and thanks to danya and chessable my caro Kahn style is unstoppable I also play the Vienna gambit and kings indian
what a pretty game
LETS GOOOO!!
whoo hoo!
The best e4 e5 opening.
not really. after 1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. f4 d5 black memorizes a few more lines and easily equalizes. something like 4. fxe5 Nxe4 5. Qf3 f5 or 5. ...Nc6
The title should be 'Tired of Ruy Lopez?' because let's be real.. That's why we're all here 😂
Dang, that # was hot
can only find 3 Vienna games from you. please do more. thanks in advance
As a Vienna player I respond to 2... Bb4 with 3. d4! It's not common theory but from my analysis every variation gives at least a slight advantage for white, and practically black often blunders early.
I have no idea how good this move is but i respond with queen g4
What sort of blunders do you see black doing here? Also considering this as a Vienna player
what a game....!!
I want to see Scotch with knight exchange at this level.
Had to show up for the Vienna
Would love to play this well....in such positions.
