- Watch as I unbox the PENTAIR Kreepy Krauly Lil' Shark Pool Cleaner and see how easy it is to put together and how easy it is to get it moving and working fast to clean the pool.
We picked this one as a much cheaper alternative to a comparable brand and I am glad we made this choice. It definitely picks up debris and it moves around freely with no issues! We knew right away this one is a keeper because we could see it's suction power right in front of our eyes.

How fast does it move? It looks like it’s pretty slow. How does it do over “wrinkles” in the liner? Thanks for taking the time to make the video
It does move a little slow. It does a good job vacuuming. However, an outboard skimmer is highly recommended as it works so much faster and does a better job overall. It works fine on the wrinkles, we honestly eventually switched to this more expensive
amzn.to/3zIc6Z5 and model of vacuum Because it's easier to set up, considering all you have to do is charge it and drop it in. I think we have had it in our pool over a hundred times it's still doing great.
The guy explaining how to set up and use this item… volume lvl 2/10
The birds in the background … volume lvl 9000/10
Yeah he does have issues with that
Why are you connecting it to the return and not the skimmer? It is supposed to suck dirt into the skimmer, not blow it around.
It was hooked up to the discharge which is the skimmer which is correct. It is right beside the skimmer and And it sucks it out into the pump.
@@MoverandShaker So that is not a return? It is a vacuum?
You hook the vacuum line up to the same place where the skimmer hose usually goes so that the suction goes directly into the pump. We don't have an inboard skimmer anymore we have the hayward outboard skimmer, so all vacuuming is done from the outside but inside the skimmer cylinder with a special attachment.
How does it suck anything up if it’s mounted to the return jet?
it works as a vacuum cleaner not an eductor
my question too. how is it sucking stuff into the skimmer if it is connected to the "blower"???
Okay this thing is flippin cool! Looks like it does a good job plus it’s super fun to look at! I love it! I decided to go ahead and put mine up, figured even if we do buy a house before summers up we can always leave this one here (landlord said that’s fine) or take it down. I really enjoy your all’s videos! Can’t wait to see the salt water switchover :)
It's doing ok. About an hour in and we have a real clean corner and our pool was pretty green and full of algae
Sounds good. I guess keep cleaning it out as you go.
I wish for once I could watch a video where the pool is actually dirty!
I have seen a few videos of incredibly gross Intex Pools, however, we are definetly always vacuuming, netting, scooping and sifting out stuff so it is rare to see our pool dirty unless it's after a rain or windstorm.
We just had a new pool and bought this Lil Shark vacuum
But we don’t understand if we connect the extended come to the injet or inside the skimmer box??
We tried everything but could’nt
Can you help or are there any more videos
Thanks
From SA Tx..
Greetings to y’all
On an Intex pool. it Hooks to the skimmer outlet. You have to physically remove the skimmer.
No one is addressing what the flow director is for. It's listed on the part list shown in a diagram. But does show where it goes
The flow director was made to help with the cleaner’s mobility. It does this by directing the water slightly downward to move the Lil Shark Vac randomly throughout the pool. Water circulating at the surface can and will influence the hose and limit the cleaning coverage. I don't think we addressed it at that time because it was straight out of the Box and we weren't really reading the directions thoroughly But ultimately we decided that the top 2 vacuums for us were the manual ones by Intex because they do a quicker faster more thorough job than any automatic vac.
We just got ours today and cannot get it working any tips
It has to be hooked on the suction side so remove the skimmer. You have to prime the line to get all the air out of the hoses. you put the shark in there tilted let it float to the bottom then slowly put your lines in a foot at a time so the line is completely filled with water until you have the end of the hose underwater then you hook it up. You may not have vented the filter basket on the pump, if needed also.
can you use the kreepy crawler for inground pools on an above ground pool
Yes it can work on both however, It works best if you have the box style skimmer (e.g. Hayward) We have found that the Intex Skimmer has that screen on the side of the pool and items can clog up the screen and make it lose suction, causing you to possibly start and stop your vacuuming to get debris out of there where as if you had an open box style skimmer you would just hook the hose up to an adapter to the skimmer opening. We continue to tell other pool owners that we prefer the manual style vacuums that you push by hand over the automated models.
so i bought this cleaner, we followed directions to a tee, as soon as we get it in the pool and hook it up it doesnt move at all!!! we have a krystal clear sand filter and an 18 x 48 above ground intex pool we have tried several different things and nothing!
As long as it's hooked up on the discharge side and you've made sure no air is in the hose, by slowly pushing the hose down in the water, to get the air out it should move.
More than likely you need a better pump. I was told no matter what kind of Intex pool you have you need at least a 3/4 to 1hp pump
I'm going to say it's either A. You need to backwash, clean out the skimmer basket
Or B. You need a bigger pump (more horse power) I had a 3/4 and upgraded to 1.5 horse power. That way I can have both the shark going and the intake to the pump. So you might be able to get away with a 3/4 hp if you close one of the ports so that only the shark is intaking. Hope this helps
I bought a house that came with one so I have no directions for it or parts. I have been trying to use it today but I find that the hose just gets tangled in itself in the pool. I don't know if this is normal or not.
In the instructions it says it goes clockwise so yes, it is not surprising as we found out the same thing that it just coils itself up. Have you tried using it with a pole attachment to spot clean areas? I remember us doing that and not wanting to wait for the shark to swim around all day.
I recently purchased one & couldn't get it to move, etc, etc... However, I filled the hose using the jet on the side of the pool instead of trying to dip the hose in the water, etc. It was much easier.. Once the hose was full/submerged, our shark still didn't move. I turned our pump setting from low to high, and it started moving all over the pool. There weren't any helpful tips in the directions that came with the unit.
Interesting perspective. We did not have your issue however, we did find that the skimmer inlet strainer plug was getting clogged up with debris. We only knew that because the vacuum would stop moving. We realized that this vacuum would work better with an outboard skimmer like the Hayward brand The larger debris would just go straight to the pump and not get caught in the strainer basket and hose
Does anyone know if there is a name for the blue part he used?
Yes, it is an Intex Hose Adaptor B Part 11238 A and you can purchase it here. amzn.to/2FtJ5Vb
Thanks for watching
what size filter pump is required to push this vacuum? (we have an intex 1500GPH filter pump is this enough to move this?
1200-1500. We actually feel this vacuum would do better with an outboard skimmer because with the It would go straight to the pump and would not get clogged up on the intex screen inside of the pool.
Where did you get the shark chlorine floating dispenser?
Amazon.
I am buying this and I have the same pool. Can you tell me if I need any thing extra to connect the hoses to the skimmer intake?
No, I don't recall us ever having to purchase anything additional We were using it within 15 minutes of unboxing it.
I got mine today but I’m wondering where all the debris goes(leaves etc.)
Well we have come to the conclusion that unless you have an outboard skimmer such as the Hayward model that is popular Bigger debris can get stuck as it makes it way to your outlet. So with that said, if you want to keep this vacuum as an option then you either need to get larger items up first and then let the vacuum do the rest, or Place a vacuum pole using the included vacuum pole attachement piece and then just spot clean all of your areas in your pool where you see solids or debris. We like doing it manually. It is faster and only takes about ten minutes. I know people love the idea of letting the kreepy krauly do it's thing, but it goes in circles so it could take awhile to get to everything vs just pinpointed the shark where you want it to suck the debris up.
Mover and Shaker ok. Thank you for the info :)
Mover and Shaker ok. Thank you for the info :)
@@jess_tastic169 You're welcome.
Good morning, so are you using this now instead of the Intex pool vacuum?
No we aren't using the Kreepy Krauly Lil' Shark to vacuum. We intended it to be a replacement for the Intex Pool Cleaner because it works a little differently and were curious and we quickly realized that this vacuum works through your skimmer so if there is large debris it gets caught in the skimmer hoses and adapter area. This vacuum is best for an outboard skimmer such as the Hayward type. We both agree that hands down we prefer the Deluxe Maintenance kit.
You have complete control over it, you can pinpoint it where you need it, and it works fast and only takes a few minutes. I know most people like the luxury or thought of an automatic vacuum, however we just realized this manual vac is our favorite out of all of them.
Mover and Shaker great information, I’m shopping for a pool vacuum and saw you had both and wanted to know which one you preferred
@@bertiez6530 Understood. The two automatic ones have pros and cons. The only that doesn't have any cons for us was the manual one. I do understand why someone would want one that is hands free and that is understood. I was in love with it the Kreepy Krauly Lil Shark at first. How could you not be but it wasn't until we used it a few times that we realized that debris can get trapped in the strainer hole and hoses before you realize it.
Just got our trust. Thanks for the video. Easy setup and I can finally get the really fine dust stuff off the bottom
We actually prefer the Intex rechargeable vac for our pool bottom but of course it's not as cute or portabke as the Shark😅
I like your ladder ......been ladder shopping. Do you like it and where did you get it.also I just got this vacuum today and really excited to use. Thanks for the video.
Never mind just found your ladder video. Thanks again.
We do like our ladder. We have a rectangular rubber mat and the way we cut off the ladder it basically is floating and when you need to go up the ladder it hits the mat perfectly. It's sturdy and wide enough for us without having to feel uncomfortable. I purchased it off Amazon but I originally found it on Overstock. VinylWorks Canada SLD Snap-Lock Deck Ladder | White As far as the vacuum the only thing we noticed is, that you have to get the Large leaves out first because when they go up the vacuum they get stuck in the skimmer strainer and then you have to open it up and pull the leaves or whatever it is blocking. So my advice is. Get a net and get anything that may not pass through the skimmer strainer first, then vacuum. We are also going to try the Intex portable vacuum too, It looks almost like a dustbuster on a pole.
Where did you get the blue piece to attach to the skimmer? I have a Coleman above ground pool.
There is nothing attached to the skimmer that did not come with it. The newer Intex skimmer models have a blue ring on them if that's what you might be looking at.
What’s your pool pump HP? Thanks for the review.
Hi there, it is 3/4 HP and it holds 120lbs of sand.
I couldn’t get mine to do anything but always go over to the same side of the pool. I’ve got a through the wall Hayward skimmer on my steel pool and a 1.5 hp pump🙄
@@ezymk69 Well that is really interesting because we determined after using it about four times that it wasn't going to do a better job unless it had an outboard skimmer such as a Hayward skimmer and that the Intex inboard skimmer just wasn't working as well as we thought it would. We sold ours for $70 and we stick to the Intex Deluxe Maintenance Kit which allows us to do quick and fast clean ups. If you swirl your water first inside the pool by netting, everything goes to the center of the floor, then whallah you just get it then, but you can do a more thorough job if you want as well and spend an hour moving it back and forth but it isn't necessary
Mover and Shaker I just manually vacuum lol
@@ezymk69 Yes, it really isn't that bad. I am thinking about getting the portable one to try out, not sure which brand yet, but the prices on everything pool related right now are sky high, so I will wait until winter when everything goes low again.
We have a few creases on the bottom of our pool. Do you have creases? And does it get stuck?
We don't have any creases that would prevent a vacuum cleaner from moving around we have more like little small tunnels and I'm not sure how that was created maybe a groundhog I'm not sure I just hope he stays away from my pool as far as that particular vacuum it's designed to run off of an outboard skimmer it didn't work that great with the Intex skimmer just good not above average we use the deluxe maintenance kit to do all vacuuming it's done by hand and it's pinpoint precision suction and takes about 10 to 15 minutes and you're done
Ours won't work
