    I am a solid 2. We do not know where ppl are on their journey, even famous people. We cannot know what they are doing, maybe they are staying silent to gather info to give to the FBI or a lawyer. Maybe the trauma is so great they cannot speak out.

  • @Hamingja6266

    If famous people spoke out and called Scientology out, maybe, just maybe, it would break it up faster bring attention of lawmakers and they would be free! If The Sea Org saw John Travolta call it out it would put doubt in there devotion to the church!
    Maybe would save lives and not wasted on the lie!?
    Silence= complicit

    With great power & influence comes great responsibility. If you were famous as a Scientologist, you 100% helped to enable recruiting. If you were famous, you were used as a lure, and now have to do your part to undo the damage you helped create. I do think there is a duty to clean up your mess.

  • @irrelevantpanda

    Celebrities absolutely have a responsibility to speak out at least once. their platform by nature can help recruit people, so by the same logic they must use that same platform to reverse the damage. If there is a chance even one person joined because of that celebrity's influence they are morally obligated to utilize the same influence once they have woken up.

    When Laura Prepon announced that she'd left Scientology, her kids were just 1 and 4, and I always thought she's kept quiet about criticizing the Church because she didn't want her young family to be Fair Gamed. Ultimately, I feel it's up to the individual re: what they want to do, after leaving, but that's just my personal opinion. Thanks for seeing both sides of the coin, Natalie!

    Natalie, has anyone ever considered the thought that Prepon maybe embarrassed about any association with Scientology and Masterson? That for her career to continue at all that she would need to completely distance herself from all of it?
    For example: Jodie Foster completely distancing herself from the wackjob who tried to assassinate the president.
    I'm thinking "Lesson Learned," she's dumped the baggage, and on to the rest of her life.
    I mean if you're a survivor of the Holocaust, why go back and visit the concentration camps?
    You all know how completely dangerous these people are to your life and well being.

  • @SheilaSmith-z8g
    @SheilaSmith-z8g 2 місяці тому +4

    The answer to the question of celebrity obligation to speak out:
    It depends. When there are competing "moral values," a person may be forced to choose to be silent.
    While a person may be willing to suffer, would he /she be willing for their children to suffer because of their decision to speak out?
    I would not.
    So, Leah if you don't know why someone has been silent, stop judging them.

    For years they had Sea org members, doing work that could have and did endanger them. Building or fixing problems in these buildings. Of course they probably have tons of problems. Not because of the lack of a sea org. Efforts. It's just that David miscavige loves his free labor. Disgusting. That would be the result, of putting people's lives in danger, & putting people that are not properly trained, how to do the work, that they do.
    Side note - the comment about STD and pink eye, had me laughing out loud, so hard my side was hurting.

Needs to be individual thinking that may or may not be in line with someone else's. It he/she speaks out fine, if not, also fine. It's called free will. Free to choose one's own way in life.

    I don’t believe anybody is obligated to discuss any subject they don’t feel comfortable discussing. I like Leah, but I’m disappointed in what she said. Would she say the same thing to a celebrity who had been SA and say that they have an obligation to talk about it, report it, discuss it, or anything like that? If the answer is no, then this should be treated the same way. Good or bad, celebrity or not, nobody is obligated to anybody else to discuss their experiences about anything outside of a court order.

    I think their level of advocacy after should match the advocacy they practiced in the group. If they were outspoken and encouraging people to join Scientology then they should be just as outspoken and encourage people to leave when they get out, if they were quiet about it to begin with I don't see any obligation to talk about it now that they are out.

    Leah told Serge she didn't "have a dog in that fight" when he asked why she isn't shining a light on the children being abused in the cult. She's got no right to be criticising others about it.
    I also think that it is also reasonable to expect celebrities to talk about it at least once, like Jason Beghe did. You want to be famous? Show some integrity and use that platform

    2... Celebrities leaving COS have the same healing to do. I do believe that, when they are sufficiently healed, then they should speak out AND share their healing process. NOW, I have pretty much have always thought Prepon was a major flake; flitting from one belief system to another. Sciento gave her the recognition she craved, so she stayed longer. I have trouble believing she actually bought in to COS. I could rant for days on this, but the answer to you question is, No I don't feel that they are obligated or responsible to expose Scientology. Their leaving becomes a public statement in and of itself. Please, pardon my wordiness.

    1 1/2 - celebs are people too, they DO have a large platform but they are people, and deserve to be treated with humanity (which cos doesn’t do) however if their platform can persuade someone to leave then I think they may want to consider speaking out. With JB he would have tremendous clout if he did speak out solely based on where he is in his career. In the end with that being said, I wouldn’t want to see him lose everything if he did. I will still watch KoQ reruns because I will always support Leah Remini.

    my feelings about a celebrity that leaves Sci, I think Laura Prepon, she got into it as an adult, she has no family left behind and she was always a celebrity when she was in. Was she really victimized by them? Probably not, and she recruited many in. I am not advocating to make her bare her soul publicly, just maybe say something, to let people know that she does not support that any more and maybe why, if it is not traumatic for her. Let's face it she was in with Danny M and his crew, did she really go through what other non celebrities went through. Most likely not. I am just giving my opinion, I am not against LP or anyone else.

    funny not funny, I was just thinking with the 5K. It's a horrible thought. Apologies in advance.
    Sea org . Members can do 5K with ease.
    They run everywhere, all the time. When are they not running.
    Does not mean they're healthy.
    I'm just speculating.
    Scientology can never just do something good. That's why when it comes to Scientology, my thoughts are that the glass is half full.
    Side note- as soon as William got into the story of ot3, those two gentlemen packed it up. It's sad.
    Scientology gives themselves away, all the time.

    Celebrities have a higher risk to lose there livelihood by fair gaming take leah remini for example she has not been able to work a a few years now because no one who is connected to her ie: producers,directors streaming services want to be fair gamed

      Which is why it is so important for these celebrities, who have resources "regular" folks being attacked by Scientology simply do not have, to use those resources and platforms to expose it! How else will it ever stop?

    • @moxieme65
      @moxieme65 2 місяці тому +3

      @HippieChick69. It will stop by one person at a time and maybe their family deciding they can leave on their own terms. Knowing there’s another group of people on the outside who’s going to pressure you to do more than you’re ready for may actually backfire and cause them to stay in.
