Thank you for such a straight forward, simple, and informative review. Unfortunately, the prices on those timers have gone up, but at least they haven't gone up as much as gas.

Oh my gosh, thank you man! I too have gone through a ton of timers that break or are to complicated to program to bother with. So I took your advice and WOW! I didn’t even have to look at the instructions because it is so user friendly. 🙏🙏🙏 Fantastic honest, clear review!

God bless you and thank you so very much I feel like I’ve got a couple of miles of soaker hose here I reckon. And yes I got A little over a dozen of those little mechanical timers and some on valves, And yes it is a drag to get out of bed or do you remember, well you know. So I was looking at videos and found yours that I have watched half of it a year or so ago and up jump this little old timer so I’m a try out a couple or three of these. Thank you and God bless you my brother.

If you are on well water you need a filter before the timer or you will get particles in the water that will cause the timer to stick open. For a few years, I did not use filters and had problems with the timers sticking and flooding the greenhouse ruining about 100 heirloom tomato plants. Kept taking the timers back to the store and had the same thing happen again. Finally, the employee asked me to describe my setup and that's when I was told the problem was I had no filter before the timer to catch particles. Upon installing the filter and cleaning it every once in a while you could instantly see particles trapped by the filter. Orbit sells the filters, the threads on it are pipe thread and you have to buy adapters for a hose or drip hose to go on it, I suggest buying from a local hardware store so that you can get the correct adapters. This filter may not be needed if you are on city water. Also I would highly suggest only using Duracell batteries and never reuse batteries from one season to another. When it's winter take the timer and filter inside and store above freezing. If you don't they will freeze and inside there is a small plastic part that breaks causing the water to stay on. At the start of the new season put in brand new batteries and recycle the old batteries. All suggestions here come from experience and many many many many wasted hours troubleshooting.

It cost me 19.00 in Walmart. Very reliable. After a year, check it often for the low battery indicator. If its low, do not wait, replace the batteries immediately, because remember, the water is on, unless the timer is working with its batteries. It will continue working until battery is completely dead, after that, if after one, or one and a half years you have not replace the 2 AA batteries, it will cost you. Other than that, it is a lot better than the expensive ones, and very super easy to set.

Diego love the info, so true it's easy to forget to shut off the water. The only thing that I would add, is a pressure regulator so that you don't blow out your drip lines and a filter for water that is not clean( spring water, canal water). You might want to add pressure compensating emmiters to keep consistent water pressure. I really enjoy your content thank you.

I had 3 of these over the last 3 years, and 2 didn't last 6 months (just stopped working). The other one lasted one year. Don't know if its the water calcium, but be ready to replace them often. Still cheaper than a full 110V irrigation system though, so economic.

the twist dial programer is a game changer instead of remembering witch botton to push how many times to get into the programing set up
about the only thing I would add is a flap over the display to block direct sun light and glare and at only $25.00 each You can have a spare in the shed ready to go next to your dripper repair parts

helpful, couple of suggestions indicate how long battery last. show how they can be set up, you hinted at it, but a visual of how you linke them from a main hose to the seperate zones would be cool to see and verify. overall- thanks well done.

I bought that exact timer last year, and that's exactly how long it lasted... I went to use it this season and it's just stopped working. I've yet to find a simple timer like this that doesn't have a propensity for crapping out after a season or two of use.

I'm getting great pressure with no timer on burried 5/8" garden hose. Sprinkler head to sprinkler head, I'm using 1/2" RTV drinking water hose. They're 25 feet and about the right distance for 2 sprinklers to shoot towards each other. Will I have pressure loss going through like a Gilmore 360° sprinkler that uses a lot of water? I connect onto my EOL and water missed areas sometimes. 🐀🐾

Looking to buy my first timer for my first irrigation set-up. This one looks great. My only concern is if this will lower the water pressure on the sprinklers? Is it better to buy single zones or multi zones and how does that affect water pressure?

I've never had one of these make it even 9 months, literally go through like 4 per year and it doesn't even freeze here. Have tried the singles, the double outlet ones, the green and blue. Maybe my water pressure is higher than most people's but these don't last at all.

This timer is inexpensive and simple, almost perfect. For me, leaving out of the country for months at a time would be perfect if it also was solar, both batteries and solar. Otherwise it's probably going to run out of batteries after 3 months and that wouldn't be good, especially if it has to be reprogrammed after the battery change. There are solar timers but they don't seem to have both solar and battery, except one, and reviews claim that particular one leaks.

I used the same orbit timer you have, but this spring as soon as I installed it and turned on the hose the timer leaked. And NOT from the threads with the hose (I use plumbers tape for that) the leak is coming from the plastic under the threads (that rotates). Can you help me I don't know how to fix that?!

I have bought 3 so far. In my humid environment, they last about a year. The upside is that you hardly ever have to change the batteries! half will fail before the batteries wear out. In fairness, every brand seems to fail. Orbit offers the cheapest disposable product that will fail.

    • @DiegoFooter

@@DiegoFooter Great to know that some keep working! I do like the device when it works. I had one in service on my mom's patio in Houston and it did last nearly two years, I think. Then I had two fail down in the tropics, near the coast. I kept them inside tupperware protectors ( I do that on all outdoor electronics and it really helps) but they still failed in a year. Again, the humidity is high, there is also some salt breeze. I think that getting rained on then drying out is one thing but being in a constant humid environment it gets inside the device.

    1. Do you have to add psi regulation on front of timer ?
2.How long the batteries last ?

    • @DiegoFooter

No regulator. I have a pressure regulator at the main so I don't need them downstream. The batteries last a long time - years.
