As a graphic designer, I cannot properly express just how _gorgeous_ this production looks. The layout is clean and readable; the colors are cool and dark, heightening the sense of a night raid, while also keeping light enough to be distinguishable; heck, even the dice are separated between sneaky black dice (like a shadow) and un-sneaky white dice (like a search light). Everything about it feels intentional to heighten the feel of the game. Hats off to everyone involved on this one--you've done a stellar job.
The art really draws you in and sells the whole concept of the game in a single image. Looking at that and the name you already know what your in for 👍
This game stands out from the crowd of new releases, knowing it’s from the maker of Test of Honour, and seeing the preorder price for all this is much lower than many comparable games (the starter set is below £50 and the big bundle with all options & expansions is £125 when many other games are starting around 100 or more for an entry level set with fewer miniatures)
I absolutely love the models for this, tons of character. Price seems reasonable (waiting on local pricing and availability). Rules are well set out and come from a quality developer. In fact surprised there isnt more chatter about.
@@ratelmike8825 if i was going to pick one it would be the Guards of Facility 9 as it adds more options for the Defending player, especially with the characters which are awesome . To be honest the base set has more than enough. The next expansion is Partisans and i believe as well there are smaller character sets planned 👍
Looks really good, be interesting to see how much variety there is for the defender given the nature of the game, but I'm sure the random stuff that happens will keep it interesting for everyone!
There are quite a few secondary objectives in missions and looking at the expansion packs and the contents it looks like more scenarios may get added 👍
Great review. This game looks really, really good. Great looking kit. The only drawback from me getting this is the terrain. It seems like you need quite a bit to have a truly immersive game. Looking forward to a bat rep! Thanks!
True, it is only on a 3 x 3 so you would fill it pretty quick. Suggestions include towns, industrial areas, ports but also rural locations (lots of trees and hedges), small villages, trench lines 👍
Looks like a great game, minis look good and looks like lots of ideas for future minis and expansions. Really good video Martin, I have previously been undecided but now I’m sold. I’ll be preordering this weekend 👍
Great review Martin, such a cool looking game, I want it but it may have to wait until I can feasibly work on it (too many projects). Those Wargames Atlantic bases are great, you can buy them on their own, think they’re designed so you can use them either way up depending on if you have pudding bases on your minis, love the magnet hole as well.
I was trying to be strong and it was working; then I watched this. I am really so weak..... Big bundle and casualties now on pre-order. Just need to figure out the terrain now so any good ideas would be welcome... Good review Martin 😆
is there secret missions on the german side, or is it just allies vs germans, with the germans as the "guards" ? Wondering what play will be like as the "guards" vs the spec ops. real opportunity for solo skirmish play here if someone can develop it (ala Rangers of Shadow Deep/ 5 parsecs from home/ stargrave).
I think this game is ripe for solo game, like you say. The designer has said he might think of some guidelines, but I think one could come up with house rules. As for how the sentries work: in order to simulate "fog of war", some sentries move along their patrol routes and others move randomly (dice indicates direction) in order to simulate they are unaware of any infiltration; that way the German player cannot do anything about the other side (even though he knows where they are) until the alarm level is raised. As the alarm level gets raised (because of noise, spotting SAS infiltrators, etc) the German player gains direct access to his troops. Seems clever! Can't wait to see how it actually plays on the tabletop.
So one player is always the defender however the nations can change. The starter set is SAS vs German guards but its my understanding that there will be Fallschirmjäger who can be pitted against allied defenders - think "the eagle has landed". Each player has seperate primary and secondary objectives to complete in each game 👍

Definitely, i think its going to scratch an itch for alot of people, the rules seem to favour narrative play which is a big 👍 in my book
@@7thson726 And you can use your castle as the mountaintop stronghold to infiltrate
This looks like one of the best games to be released for a long time.
Totally agree, I'm nearly set to have a go at the first scenario 👍
Pre-ordered this gem yesterday. Reading the rules is a pleasure. Really looking forward to playing it. Nice review.

I think it could be a big hit for this year, just need to spread the word 👍
Just started looking into this game. One of the best if not the best review of this game, thank you. Much appreciated
Thanks very much, really glad you like it. I love this game, its exactly what i was looking for for that stealthy, small scale WW2 feel 👍

I'm hoping to have one out soon 👍
Still can't decide if I should go all in and pre-order everything or wait and see. Does look really good though.
I know what i would do 😁😉
@@7thson726 Yeah I cracked. It was the organiser tray that did it in the end.
@@David_R434 that alone adds a massive thunbs up 😅
How do the figures compare size wise to Warlord games??
on facebook there is a picture of both figure types.
They are ever so slightly slimmer but not mich in it at all
Alsatian head could be useful for dog soldiers 😂😂
Or the King in the North... 😁
Be interested to see how this compares to Black Ops.
Hopefully I'll have the game report up fairly soon, unfortunately had some work issues come up which has delayed things a bit
