Strengthening your weak Psoas can be an unnecessary task because it’s probably not weak. Your Psoas isn’t a strength muscle, it’s more like a stability muscle that works with other muscles. If you isolate it with strength exercises you’re training it against how it functions and it won’t solve your problem. In this tutorial you’ll learn more about its function and how to get it back to its best.

When you said they're not weak they're fatigued you described my whole body! I'm working on rebalancing and understanding what's going on not just in my muscles and my connective tissue and my fascia thank you so much for sharing this it's going to be so helpful to me! 🤗

How about this: do both. Also most people barely train their psoas, so I'm not sure how most people's psoas would be too strong

Do you have any advice on how NOT to engage your psoas like mad during abdominal exercises? Mine is so tight and I know I"m over-using it during ab workouts. My chiropractor palpated it the other day and it was the worst pain... it's also super sore day to day and in my low back as well. Any tips would be immensely appreciated. Marvelous video.

If it's that active, massage and stretching are your best bet. Along with stabilising the hips and spine

This is totally terrible advices here. Psoas is very very often weak and long especially with people who stand with hip extension and got terrible hyperextended lower back. It prevent anterior glide. If it's weak and long the QL goes into spasm not mention terrible hip and low back pain, do what you want tho.

This, I guess would depend on the weak long theory of muscle mechanics being a useful one

Please do not follow this advice. Strength of psoas is very important for spinal movement , stability and pain avoidance in the lower back and hip and thigh. The outer muscles are prime movers. They also need to be strong, but the foundation, ie spine/pelvis, needs to be strong/ stable first. Weak psoas muscles are a common source of low back pain. Good luck. As a pt , i try to keep things as simple as possible for client compliance:))

Are you able to explain in more detail how a strong Psoas avoids low back pain? And a weak Psoas is a common source of low back pain?
