    Summary:
    - there are 3 phases
    1) immediate = stop right away. Do not stress the muscle any more. Cool it.
    2) up to 72 hours cooling. Not stressing the muscle. Elevate the muscle above your heart.
    3) after 72 hours: use warmth, stretching, massaging, foam rolling

I'm on my way to tearing my Achilles, so I'm actually trying to find ways to prevent that from happening. Naturally, rest would help, but I also don't want to lose all my recent calf gains by taking a few weeks off. I'm trying to find the right rep quantity to strengthen and heal the injured area without causing further damage or losing muscle / tendon strength.
Prevention is always better than recovery. 7 months later, I hope you're calf is back to full strength ;)

773 ohh just wondering how long it took for your hamstring to heal? And was it a upper, lower, mid or total hamstring injury? I also injured mine for the first time doing sprints but it was only slight. That was over a year ago. Now I have injured it twice in the last two months. Today being the most recent and the pain is unbearable. I can’t walk or sit I’m just laying down. This sucks!!! I was just starting to train again, not able to run but doing other things. Now back to square one. 😞

Before each physical exercise, it is very important to warm up for at least 5 to 10 mins.

    This video was really helpful!
I don't play sports, like at all. I don't be like to move a whole lot.
But yesterday morning I was stretching out my legs, when my left ham string started to hurt a lot. It was one of the worst pains I've ever had to endure in all of my 14 years of life.
This had happened to me a couple of times before, and the pain went away almost immediately after, but this time, the pain stuck around all day. And this morning I woke up to find it still there.
So I looked up a video to find out what do do and this was the most helpful
Great! Another excuse for me to lay around some more ;)

I'm a competitive marathoner and just got a minor quad tear during my marathon a couple weeks ago. This is a great video, but here are a few supplemental tips...
    1. A quad muscle tear doesn't generally heal with 3 days of RICE, it can take a couple weeks. So entering the rehab phase after only 3 days probably won't work for many, especially. if you're older. I'm 37 and with only a minor tear, 7 days off wasn't enough to heal it and I re-aggravated it on an easy run.
    2. For whichever essential oil blend you use, make sure to mix in a "carrier oil" so that it absorbs more effectively. He uses olive oil, generally a coconut or jojoba oil would be used.
    3. A more potent essential oil blend that is anti-inflammatory and increases circulation is frankincense, thyme, myrrh and a carrier oil.
    4. Up your protein intake to help rebuild the muscle faster.
    5. Apply arnicare gel to sooth the muscle.
Good luck to everyone else in their recovery!

Thank you for making this video. I injured both my hamstrings yesterday, after that I even did some running and stretching :/. When I got home, the pain wasn't that bad, so I just went to sleep, but woke up with a cramp-like feeling in both of my hamstrings. I guess I've missed the 1.phase (since I just went to bed), but am now applying ice wraps and resting. I'll have to get some bandages for compression aswell..
I was too enthusiastic and pushed myself too far yesterday, now I'm faced with having to wait it out to heal for probably a couple of weeks, we'll see. I hope this will be a lesson to me and I'll take it more slowly and carefully, and listen to my body more the next time I return to training.
Again, thanks for the video, hope you're doing well

I just learned that I straight up pulled both my quads at soccer practice and didn’t realize it until next practice but I thought it was just fatigued or tired muscles so I practiced through the pain. After practice today I realized that I pulled the muscles bc it hurt when I ran too fast or kicked the ball :///
