Hi Dr. Paulien! I just found your channel and absolutely love your videos! I am a nuclear medicine technology student and am currently completing my internship year. I'm hoping to use your videos to help study. I was wondering if you could make more videos on radiopharmaceuticals and how they are made?
Hi Melody! Thanks for reaching out. Please call me Paulien. It means so much to me that my videos were helpful. Regarding your request, I assume that you have already watched this video about radiopharmaceuticals/cyclotron/technetium generator? I'd like to make more videos about radiopharmaceuticals, can you tell me in a bit more detail what you'd like to see covered? :)
@@dr.paulinemoyaert Yes, of course! Some nuclear medicine departments have a radiopharmacy on-site where they prepare their doses for patient use or they order doses and get them shipped in. For example, I would love to see videos on the process of tagging WBCs with 111 In Oxide or 99m Tc Ceretec. Or in this video you talked about MAG3. What is the process of milking the generator and labeling MAG3 with Tc99m? (I apologize if I used any terms wrong but I hope that helps!)
If one has a stricture, Is the MAG3 an accurate test? i.e. does the MAG3 indicate kidney function regardless of stricture?. If a stricture is removed, would one anticipate the MAG3 results to be better?
No, because they have different renal functions that they picture. DTPA is used to assess glomerular filtration rate (GFR), while MAG3 is for tubular excretion (which means these are alternatively used for patients with severe GFR problem). Both have the same or similar workflow, just what they’re assessing is different.
I got operated 2 time for left pujo obstruction pyeloplasty 1 was robotic pyeloplasty and then open pyeloplasty.after 8 month of left redo open pyeloplasty mag 3 shows "delayed outflow clearance" Pls tell me is it good clearance.
Mam my child is just 4 months old and he has uti, doctor suggested me to take dmsa scan ,I am very afraid about the scan because he is just 4 months old. Does dmsa scan radiation affect him in future?

thanks for the very nice explanatory video
it has helped me alot

First time I understand it thoroughly ❤
❤❤ so greatly explained simplified in short comprehensive way
Thank you for this video. Much appreciate your effort in procuring the clear scans and discussing salient features in detail. ❤
Thank you, Susan! 💛💛
Very helpful Thank you Dr pauline.❤
Good, explanatory video. Thank you.
Great video! I love the ADAC machine. So versatile. They just don't make gamma camera systems like they used to.
Thank you, Daris! 😊

Awesome illustration....thnks alot
Thanks 😊
very nice explanation
Excellent 👌
Thank you very much that was very helpful
Thank you Hafsah Khalid 😉
Great jobs , thanks.
My question is for every hydronephrosis shall we do mag 3scan?
MAANY THANKS😊
thanks alot
Well done paulien ... 🤗
Thanks, Ziyad😊

I'm afraid I can't answer this (I'm not yet a nuclear medicine physician - I'm a resident who's currently doing research)
why MAG3 is prefer than DTPA renogram?
This is very informative .. I am wondering if I can get more insights about other kidney agents EC and DTPA? Thanks in advance
Thank you for your comment, Mohamed. I don't have any videos about other kidney agents, I'm sorry.
A patient with left nephrostomy ,mag 3 shows 11% function on left side , rt is 89%. Can we do DMSA for this patient or mag is enough
I'm sorry, I can't give any medical advice. 🙁 I hope you find someone to help you.
My kids are 3 years old DSMA left shows 40 functions. Then told me to do an E-C scan please tell EC scan any side effects
Is it true Dtpa is replaced by mag3?
Not completley
No, because they have different renal functions that they picture. DTPA is used to assess glomerular filtration rate (GFR), while MAG3 is for tubular excretion (which means these are alternatively used for patients with severe GFR problem). Both have the same or similar workflow, just what they’re assessing is different.
What is the range of the radiopharmaceutical dose in this scan??
I'm sorry, I don't know the exact dose. 🤔

Does operation hurts really bad?
nice

No, absolutely not. Don't worry!
@@dr.paulinemoyaertok mam. I just want to know how much radiation emits from 1mci of technetium 99m ?
Hi I would like an opinion on DTPA scan results after pyeloplasty. I am happy to share the images. Can I have your maid ID Please. Thanks
