Are you also here because it seems that UA-cam can explain things better than your teacher? You're not alone - welcome to the club!
I'm Dr. Paulien Moyaert, a former medical student, current PhD candidate, and nuclear medicine resident. Throughout my nine years of study, I’ve been educated by many renowned teachers. What I noticed year after year was that the more they knew about their field, the more difficult it seemed for them to explain things in a simple and understandable way.
This is why I made it my mission to make concise, simple videos about a variety of medical topics using 3D models, fancy powerpoint slides and even real video shots during surgeries. Hope you like it! Feel free to reach out, I’m always happy to hear from you.

PET vs. SPECT scan | Dr. Paulien Moyaert
This video explains PET and SPECT, two primary imaging techniques in nuclear medicine that use small amounts of radioactive tracers to create detailed pictures of our bodies. Unlike X-rays, CT, or MRI scans that show the body's structure, PET and SPECT reveal how organs function, allowing for the detection of early biochemical changes and aiding in early disease diagnosis, particularly in oncology. The video covers the principles of PET, which uses positron-emitting radioisotopes like fluorine-18, and SPECT, which uses gamma-emitting radioisotopes like technetium, and how these radioisotopes are attached to tracers to target specific body processes. You'll learn how these radiotracers work inside the body to emit gamma rays, which are then captured by cameras to create detailed functional images.

Not a human being but I learnt so much more when I saw my dog battled cancer and lost. The cancer started at his spleen then spread to his liver and subsequently to his other organs. Treatment couldn't catch up with the failure of the organs. It is like fixing a badly dilapidated house. You fix the sink then the AC went spoilt and so on. In the end, the cancer spread to his stomach and intestines and he had frequent diarrhoea. It also spread to his mouth and he started to have problem opening his mouth to eat. It was heartbreaking to see him suffer. In the end, he died naturally in his sleep due to multiple organ failure. I am so sad and some days I still miss him so much. Miss and love you my Auguste boy. Stay happy in heaven
Thanks Doc once again
Today u did not introduce your self Doc.. And again nicely done ❤

first i want you to know i am in devastating poverty in Canada after a truck hit me with my christian group and i was denied a lawyer and had my inheritance stolen so i stayed in poverty and wasnt allowed to have kids, and i noticed they dont have a vaginal incision device that expands the vagina so the vagina is wide enough to allow the baby to safely come out , my friend had 2 babies, one she barely managed to get out and who had brain damage after the child birth and the next she left permanently disabled , hopefully someone makes a vaginal incision device that expands the vagina so the baby comes out safely ,i deserve a noble peace prize butr instead im homeless with no children watching my friends leave their babies permanently disabled because they dont have a vaginal incision device to expand the vagina so the baby comes out safely
My best friend's father died of esophageal cancer in early 2021. He had tumors located on the back of his tongue and 3 inches above his stomach. During the last three months of his life, I watched my best friend's father waste away because of the tumors made it increasingly harder and more painful to swallow food and water. It was a shame. He was a good ol' boy and a great father. I still find it funny that 4 years prior to him being diagnosed with esophageal cancer, he had quick dipping and smoking after 29 years. When he was diagnosed and was told he had a year to live, he spent $2,000+ buying Copenhagen, Camel cigs, and boxs of cigars. At first I was kinda suprised to see him pick up his old habbits, but I quickly figured out why he did. Later I asked him in a joking manner, "I thought you quit smoking and dipping a few years back." He replied, "The damage has already been done and I'm not going wallow in regret over it. I knew the risks. Since I'm dying, I'm going to enjoy my Cope and my cigars because they have brought me relaxation and happiness since I was 17. Granted, I could've lived another 10 years if I didn't pick up the habbit, but I lived my life the way I wanted. You might as well enjoy the little things." I miss that man. RIP John.
Well explained,thank you Doctor
I found out that i was pregnant today!! Super excited! 🎉 i have an appointment with my OB next week

I have a question regarding recent death of my loving mother which I am regretting.. Please answer Actually she was a stage 4 cancer patient and she was not ready for aggressing treatment like chemo and all. Despite that I went for her chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy... Her body seemed positively responding and she was stable but she missed chemo cycle after fitst chemo as she was not ready for that.... After three months when pain started again I took her to hospital and doctor gave her 2nd chemo. unfortunately she didn't recovered from complications and collapsed after 15days of chemo Now I am regretting taking her for chemo despite her refusal.. I am unable to understand whether she collapsed because of chemo or something else...
Don't forget dehydration and malnourishment. I only did long-term nursing home care for a few months but at least one of the residents deteriorated quickly when she became afraid to drink or eat her paranoia with triggered by the dementia. And the medications didn't help. Either they would sedate her to the point of her being obtunded or she just be in constant panic mode. 😢 Edit she also lost the ability to drink up a straw or take sips from the cup even when she would try.
