- As part of the centenary celebrations of the National Park Service, the Grand Canyon Railway decided to revive ex-LS&I 2-8-0 #29 to help celebrate the occasion. On Saturday, August 27th, 2016, the #29 teamed up with Grand Canyon steam mainstay, ex-CB&Q 2-8-2 #4960, for a doubleheaded trip from Williams to the Canyon and return. In this video, Liam (DRGWSD40T) and I caught the doubleheader on its' return trip to Williams and then as the evening turning and stabling chores are completed. Also included is the return of the second section of the Williams Flyer, headed by a pair of the GCRYs' mainstay EMD F40FHs (rebuilt to freight gearing from ex-Amtrak F40PHs).
Beautiful scenery, beautiful sky and awesome doubleheader!
