I do prefer the classic CB&Q configuration over the GCRY specs. However when they got 4960, she was in really bad shape which was why they had to build a new smokebox and original tender was too badly rusted to use which is why they got the Soo Line tender. At least 4960 has 4 other surviving sister engines that carry on her CB&Q legacy. Basically the GCRY 4960 is a new locomotive with parts from the CB&Q 4960 such as the main boiler, chassis and running gear used in the process. She looks too much like a USRA 2-8-2 and oddly looks more like a Southern engine than a CB&Q locomotive.
Great to see the steam engine. It was not running while I was there during the first week of 2017. Good job! Thanks

I keep hearing this is a hard chase but it doesn't look to bad. Good Footage!
Nicely done, luv that steam in 4k!
at 3:46 4960's whistle was the same as the wisconsin's 1003's whistle
I rode behind 4960 on many excursions out of St. Louis in the early 1960s. The whistle seems to be the same as the original.
Chicago, Burlington & Quincy 4960 did pretty good at the Grand Canyon Railway.
Awesome Video!
Thanks!
8:58 When the SP 6 Chime whistle is squeak

Bro, That whistle was used in one of T128 Productions' "How these Trains should have sounded" videos
Considering yourself being downright wrong
is it just me or does that whistle sound simulair to Milwaukee 261
It sounds nothing like MIL 261.
That's a Southern Pacific 6 chime, completely different from a Milwaukee 3 chime
@@EngineerDaylight ATSF 5* lmao
@@EngineerDaylight hes talking abt 261s 6 chime. but they dont sound alike anyways
its so cool
I really don’t like the new look of the 4960. She looks so much better with no headlight on the middle of the smoke box and smaller cow catcher.
