    I have never heard of a BBQ Lodge before. It is a very pleasant space, far better than a simple rectangle. It brings to mind the octagonal study that Mark Twaine had built for him by his in-laws, about 200 yards from the Quarry House, where he Summered for many years. It is rumored that part of the motivation for the construction of that study was Twaine's constant cigar smoking. It is also rumored that he worked in that study with a whole colony of cats as company. That study now sits on the Elmira College campus, in Elmira, New York..

    It’s very fruitful to add some diversity into one’s life. I have a ‘cabin’, not far from where I live. When I go there, it’s like being “away”. It ads tranquility but also equilibrium to life.

    The laptop case, is very nice. One slight suggestion about your description. Instead of using classy, I might suggest elegant or refined, as classy, is a very "lowbrow" word, while classy can be kind of playful. For me using elegant or refined, fits the overall essence of the of personal presentation your working toward. Always love your videos. The garden studio, is amazing!

    I suspect NEXT UK will be reaching out to you to develop a 'Chap's Guide' home furnishing line any day now 😉. I am of an age (60 years old) where quality leathers have always been a part of my life. The selection of hides, the tanning process, and the wearabilty have made leather a go-to material in my homes and clothing.
    Sadly, marketing and the current zeitgeist is pushing 'vegan leather' and making animal hides a dirty word. Very few people understand the difference between chrome vs vegetable tanning and under what condition hides are procured. After watching your story on the future of ties, do you believe animal leather will be treated the same way fur pelts are seen by a large part of the population today?
    @3:25 - The case is beautiful and if I may, acquaint you with a London-based company that specializes in leather goods: Beara Beara. I purchase from them often and ship to the United States.
    Thanks as always for your content.

    One garden- Mower, garden tools etc
    One bike- Motorcycle
    One- She-shed for my wife's hobbies.
    If I need working solitude, I have my Landy 😁 it has lights, a table "comfy" seats and I can park it pretty much anywhere 😂
    Moose lodge looks grand though and a great repurposing of a garden structure ( especially with the decking for a "cheeky" G&T or 3)
    Until next time

    One thing that I like to do is to go to a local restaurant (i.e. within 50 miles) with wifi access and work from there in a different environment. I usually eat in the mid afternoon and so I'm not even close to keeping other customers from sitting down.
    Sometimes there is a communal table where other locals (farmers, ranchers, judges) will drink coffee in the afternoon. I've sat there with with them as well and split my time between work and talking.
    Unfortunately, the restaurant I've preferred for the last three or four years has shut down their public wifi. Without the wifi, I don't know that I'll ever go back in there.

    Dear Ash!
    Thank you, and Kudos, for sharing your home work spaces. Well designed, attractive, and (obviously) extremely functional.
    If you'll permit me a very minor etymological observation: The word "odour" ("odor", US) is generally associated with unpleasant smells. Unwashed socks, stale cigarette or cigar smoke, sweaty underarms, rotten food, etc. have an ODOUR. Pleasant smelling things: fresh baked bread, a lady's perfume, cut flowers, finely-tanned leather - these things have a "SCENT" or an "AROMA".
    Odour = unpleasant. Scent or Aroma = pleasant. I'll note that there is a somewhat fine line between pleasant/unpleasant when it comes to olfactory experience. Just ask Napoleon when it came to Jospehine's bathing habits, but that's a discussion for another day.
    Sorry for being a tad pedantic. But I'm a word guy.

    Is this your first paid promo Ash? Maybe there were others I forgot about, as you tend to show only that which you have experience with. I think it is the hallmark of a gentleman to value the dollars he worked for and to seek out well made goods that will last a time, if not a lifetime. Very nice office; I can see someone dropping by and being very comfortable while having a nice chat with you. One may see this office as getting away from the home, but I'd rather see it as making the home that much better for wife and kids as home life can now be just that, home life spent with your loved ones without the feeling of being torn between family and work.

    • @TheChapsGuide

      No paid promo sir. I derive no financial gain from the product seen in the video. I have a relationship with CF and they allow me to choose items from their collection for review. But I am not paid for the review, nor do I get any commission on sales.

    Hello Ash. Thats a very nice space. I too wrestle with how I approach telework. Whilst I have an office in my home designated for work, the temptation of spending an extra hour (or three) on the computer tends to make me feel like I’m always at work. My customers have grown to expect my increased availability and I am trying to draw a better separation between work and family life. Your space seems to be a great solution. Great video as always. Do you have any additional Apple products? I love the MacBook and I’m always curious to learn what other products content creators use.

    Question maybe for another video: Based on your recommendation and seeing the same on other channels, I bought an olive Balfour Beaufort jacket. It occurred to me that hunting jackets in the US are very different. Though I do not hunt, I grew up in a very rural area where hunting deer and other prey, in season, is very popular. For safety reasons, hunters wear bright red, patterned coats. Roaming through heavy forest, everywhere where I grew up,, in an olive jacket during hunting season would not be a good idea.
    Chat GPT (AI) said it was because hunting in the UK is different and safety is a lesser concern. My only images of hunting in UK were of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh walking across very open terrain. Is that correct? Are there no forests for hunting in the UK?

    • @TheChapsGuide
      @TheChapsGuide  10 місяців тому

      Hunting in the UK is extremely niche and only conducted in very specific locations. We do boot have a hunting culture and hence there is little likelihood of unexpected encounters with other hunters when out hunting.

    • @michaelblazin4093
      @michaelblazin4093 10 місяців тому

      @@TheChapsGuide Thank you. It is different when 600,000 deer hunters in one state, Michigan, will start the season on Nov 15. FYI - the hunting season only keeps the deer population stable and in better overall health through the winters that typically much worse than in the UK.

    A string of excellent videos but then every now and then these bizarre Carl Friedrik shills. Is the commission worth it? It’s not great for your credibility which otherwise would be very high.

    • @TheChapsGuide
      @TheChapsGuide  10 місяців тому +2

      I receive no commission or financial payment for discussing these products. I do have the opportunity to select items from their range to review and I do not have to pay for those items, but if they sell a thousand products from my videos I do not benefit in any way. I genuinely love these briefcases and use them daily, hence my continued involvement with the brand. I must get several requests to collaborate with brands on a daily basis, but I decline almost 100% such requests, as I have no desire to talk about products I have no interest in owning myself.

    • @Alexander-xq1gr
      @Alexander-xq1gr 10 місяців тому

      @@TheChapsGuide Thank you very much for replying and for being open about the arrangement you have with them. I do feel though that it is important that your viewers are aware so that they can then judge for themselves whether or not your reviews of CF products are truly objective. A statement in the video that you received the products free but do not receive any remuneration would allow them to do this. Anyway, I am very appreciative of the good work you do to encourage a return to high sartorial standards for society. Thank you.
