Sad to hear of the lady passing...a true professional and trail-blazer. You know, when you scratch the surface and do some digging, you would be surprised just how so many women laid the foundations of British Broadcasting....
This is so great to see, love how polite, calm and back then. ITV News (ITN) still has by far the best presenters, it's their biggest asset. Julie, Mary, Tom, Rageeh etc are the best and just a cut above.
2:16 - This at least dates when this News at Ten aired in 1971 - the California earthquake reported here was the San Fernando Earthquake which happened at 6.00am on Tuesday 9th February 1971. Sadly the death toll would rise from the 11 mentioned here to near 60 dead in total.
Somewhere on UA-cam there is a video showing a BBC television news bulletin, with the video shown to viewers and the audio from the gallery. But unlike this video, nothing works and you can hear the director get increasingly frustrated and panic-stricken as they try to fill airtime. I don't know if it's real or a fake.
That was the One O'Clock News from December 1986 on BBC One, just during Christmas week when Philip Hayton made his debut on the programme. Great viewing. Title of the video is BBC One O'Clock News 1986 with Talkback
Absolutely fascinating and a brilliant tribute to a legendary television director.
An interesting mix of equipment - EMI 2001 colour cameras, Marconi MK VII Telecine, Ampex quad machine....
By 1971, ITN had only been making their news programmes in colour for less than two years
Thank you, very interesting
How extremely calm and orderly in the gallery.

Diana Edwards-Jones
I love the man animating the spaceship with a piece of wood. A bit before Quantel was invented!

Lindo de se ver!
Fascinating glimpse behind the scenes. Had ITN moved to Wells Street by then or still on Kingsway?
ITN were in Wells Street by 1971. They moved there in 1969, in time for when ITN News would start to air in colour come November 1969.
These days it can be controlled by a smart phone
Diane Edwards Jones passed away?? No has she passed away? Say that mind,in 83 ITN News at ten she must have been ease well in her 50's.
Who is the lady passed away?

@johnking5174 Thank you for the title. I couldn't watch until the end; it was so stressful!
@@linmanfu913 There is talkback you can get where the news anchor can only hear the director, that be better
and that's still mild in comparison with the Eurovision gallery talkback from Stewart Morris!
Media tribute information
I’m my time in news studios the best directors usually were women.
