I am usually a quiet person on the internet, not commenting, just enjoying. And boy did I enjoy your work on Outside Xtra! You helped me through the pandemic, made me smile and laugh countless times, helped me relax during stressful times in university and at work ... ... the list goes on. As sad as it is to see you leave Outside Xtra, I am happy for you to take the chance in pursuing your goals and do the things you love. But, I am also very happy about you still being part of Oxventure :) I will definitely check out your new stuff, not just because I like your music and the things you do, but also because you are one of the most memorable people I've seen on the internet and it is always a joy and pleasure to see your content! So, again, thank you so much for your work so far and godspeed for your future endeavours!
The oxbox channels have remained mostly unchanged since I found them many, many years ago. And they will never be the same without you, Luke ❤. I wish you all the best in your future quests
It felt strange at first having 2 new members but that feeling faded so quickly. If they -hire another person to take over who makes everything better almost immediately- replaces Luke, I'm sure they'll make the right choice and it'll be someone we also won't be able to imagine the channels without. and we'll be all "oh if only Luke had been there when Chumbo said that" "I wish Luke and Chumbo had a chance to interact on screen" in no time.
Luke and Ellen have changed the channels so much. And Johnny too. Loved Jane, Andy and Mike since I started watching more than a decade ago. But Ellen and Luke have injected so much fun into the mix. I’m glad Luke’s keeping one foot in the door. And I know Luke’s been wanting to do more for a while. I hope he gets what he’s looking for
This is one of those "happy for you, sad for myself" situations I've always heard about...I've loved almost everything you folks have produced over the years, but Luke - your BOTW streams began my own love affair with that series, your Bloodborne streams had me - a non Soulsborne player - deeply invested in Ray Sunshine. Blades in the Dark, Gravity RIP, Dob, Delacey, Mom Can't Cook, Luke's FMV Zone, the Frost troll, Yarny, Werewolf, The Westaway Gambit...I mean, the list goes on. You've brought us all SO. MUCH. JOY over the years and it's hard to picture Oxboxtra without you. Thank you for every video and every laugh and every piece of your talent we've had the privilege to witness over the last few years. All the best wishes for this new chapter and I'm so glad you aren't leaving us entirely. After all, as a Normal Adult Man™once rightly said: Flamingos Never Say Die 😎
I really want to add Space Buddies to that list. The Westaway Gambit was definitely one of the best bits of the Among Us streams, but Space Buddies was a constant source of hilarity and drama. Plus I'm convinced it was Luke's response to the bullying Ian was receiving during those streams, so there are multiple layers of wholesomeness to it as well.
@@richardhandcock yes, the Space Buddies were great!!! So wholesome yet game-breaking in the most hilarious of ways. I feel like there was a moment back then, with all the channels - Ian and Aoife from EG, Wheels and Lolies of DB, and of course Oxboxtra and Johnny - where it all just FIT. All the camaraderie, the chemistry between all the players, the in-jokes, the metas, it all felt like a peak moment in the history of all the channels. It's sad to see it all slowly fade away, inevitable though it may be. I'm happy for everyone who's pursuing new and exciting challenges, but I do wish I could go back to that moment in time and experience it all again 🥹
Luke coaching Ellen through Dark Souls was really important to me. It was a scary time all around, but also I was in a really scary situation personally at that time and just seeing Luke confindently tell Ellen "Hey, we are gonne do a scary and difficult thing today and we won't get it first try and maybe we'll fail a bunch and that's ok, don't even worry about it." every stream was seriously what kept me going.... Thanks Luke! I also failed a bunch, but I did get through the scary thing eventually. I did it and you definitely helped me do it!
Actually that series made me pick up elden ring, and now several years later I’ve played every game that From Software has released. Ok, well not anything before “demon souls” I’m not a madman
@@calebr4141 you do realise that 'Doing A Scary Thing' isn't limited to video games, yeah? People can do, and experience 'A Scary Thing' in real life, yeah?
Luke’s charisma and dynamic with Ellen is truly one of the best gifts on the internet. I’m sad to see you leave this channel but I’m very excited for everything in your future! I hope we’ll be able to hear more in depth about the thought process for each of Luke’s compositions, especially the music for BitD and Deadlands! I was hoping to hear him gush about his work on the podcast, but on his own channel would be great too! Luke, we’ll miss seeing your normal adult man stuff here! All the best for your future work and thank you for all the preshest of mems! 😊
Long time lurker here, I've never commented on anything before but felt I had to for this! I’ve been watching oxbox since 2015 and remember subbing to oxtra as soon as I saw your announcement video. I can’t begin to convey what a blast it has been since without writing an essay. You’re both brilliant, as is everyone in the wider oxtra team and I platonically love you all. You have brightened so many days, generated so much joy, and created so many unforgettable memories. I won’t lie, I think my heart may have stopped when I saw the title of this video, but in truth I’m not worried. Things change. But you guys will always be brilliant no matter where you are or what you’re doing, and we’ll be right along for the ride as long as you’ll let us. Luke you are so talented, and amazing, and I wish you the very best. I love everything you've done so far and I can’t wait to see what you do next!
Never thought I would feel so gutted about this kind of announcement. But hearing this all the memories of the last 7 years came flooding back. I started watching you guys in my first year at uni in a new country with no one around me that I knew (curse of being an introvert). You provided me company and entertainment when I was sad and alone for those first couple months until I managed to find my footing. However, even after it has become a weekly ritual to watch your videos and streams of play throughs. Ellen and Luke were the ones which I found first and I’ve always like the chaotic yet kind and comfortable atmosphere they managed to provide. They also introduced me to the rest of the team which I quickly came to love and appreciate as well. I will of course continue watching but you will be sorely missed Luke. Thank you for all the memories, for your time and your person. I hope and I know that you will achieve your dreams. We will all be rooting and supporting you.
I found them over the last year, and have been working my way through the top 7 lists of Outside XBox and Outside Xtra. The highlights video made me aware of how MUCH content, memories and amazing times this channel has produced that I have not even made it to yet, along with the great times this past year I was there for live or within hours of it posting. I am so happy that you got to experience so much of it at a time that meant so much to you and know that there will be many more enjoyable and memorable times going forward.
This is hard. I've been subscribed to this channel for a long time and it is one of my favorites. Luke mentioned an "oasis of tolerance, good humor and decency," and that is the reason I'll always keep coming back here. I don't know if you've all seen the rest of the internet, especially gaming spaces, but they are often lacking in those things that can make them some really depressing spaces or content that I don't wish to consume. Thank you for the countless hours of enjoyable content Luke and I wish you nothing but success.
I’ve always thought tolerance was a funny concept because it means we have to tolerate something about each other, which, personally, I’m offended by. Also, tolerance is really the main British emotion lol
Im a 30 year old man who discovered this channel around about the time it started. I can honestly say you have all brought me a great deal of joy and happiness. In fact, when i think back to some of the best days ive had, a good few of them started with s show of the weekend :)! I just wanted to say, as im sure so many others do, thank you Luke! And i hope you all take some joy in knowing how much happiness you have brought so many people ❤ From another normal Adult man.
Reading the comments, one can't help but notice that even the viewers that never comment feel the urge to thank you for all your hard work and the hours of joy you've brought to your audience. And I'm definetely one of those people! I moved to the UK a couple months before you guys started Outside Xtra, and moved out again just a couple weeks ago, so the timing of your departure hits me with overwhelming nostalgia! I wish you all the best in your future projects, Luke, and thank you once again for all the laughter and memories you left us with while being on this channel. Now, let's see what comes next!
Well this is just devastating to be honest. Your comradery with Ellen has always been nothing short of lightning in a bottle. You both have brought a genuine warmth and hilarity to a relatively new channel and while Ellen is more than capable of carrying this channel forward, I'm going to miss the way you both vibe off each other so effortlessly. That being said, you have left with good intentions and I can only wish you the very best in whatever you decide to put your energy into. You have given the fans of this channel much joy, laughter and merriment and you fully deserve all the rewards that may come your way. I rarely engage in youtube comments but this feels like one of those moments when I need to say something, such is the impact the both of you have had on me.
I remember watching the announcement of this channel back in 2016 - I was in my 2nd year of high school and I couldn't wait to see how this channel would go. Now, I'm in my last full year of my undergrad, and I can't thank you enough Luke for all the wonderful times you've brought us all. It's a true shame that we won't see your face on this channel anymore, but I cannot wait to see what you bring us next!! All the best for your new step into NormalAdultLuke!!!
Here I am, a man quite a few years your senior, trying not to cry a little bit. You two have been a blessing and an absolute delight in both times of hardship and in times of joy. Thank you for everything, guys
I was just watching Johnny’s livestream when someone started asking about Luke leaving OX, and I RUSHED over here! I am very glad that he is pursuing the newfound interest and making decisions which will help it, but I am also straight up crying a little. Outside Xtra has been my safe place for a good 5 years now, the videoes I listen to as I fall asleep, when I’m working or just relaxing, and was straight up the biggest thing which kept me from losing all control of my sanity when I stayed half a year in China. I feel like I owe you so much for all the wonderful videoes and the energy you put into them, but all I can give is my thanks! Good luck with the dreams Luke, and I hope Ellen will continue the channels great legacy of silliness, or whatever she wants to do!❤ aight I’m gonna go cry a bit now …
This has genuinely broken my heart... I've been watching you guys since Day 1, and while OxBoxTra has my heart forever, it will never be the same without Luke... We'll miss you dearly EDIT: I was not ready for the slightly different (key changed?) SOTWE outro music at the end... Goodbye Luke, you beautiful, amazing, normal adult man
I was definitely hoping for a late April Fool’s Day Joke 😢 However: Thank you so much Luke for being such a valuable part of this team and this channel for so long. These channels have always been so joyful and wholesome, very in keeping with watching friends having fun together. You commented that the community has been incredibly accepting and supportive, and I think it is a testament to how you all have fostered such a positive environment through your kindness and good natures. I’m sad to see you go, but I am grateful that it is due to you pursuing discovered passions. We’ll be cheering you on from the sidelines, and wish you luck on this next leg of your journey. Cheers Luke! You’ll do amazing, I know it. 💜
I have dreaded the day the announcement would come that one of these five wonderful people would leave the team. Lots of mixed emotions, but I wish Luke the best of luck in his endeavors beyond Outside Xtra! Luke, you're so talented with your writing, your music, really everything I've seen you do, and I have no doubt you will find enormous success in these projects going forward! I look forward to seeing the crazy and amazing things you come up with in the future! It will be very strange without you here on Outside Xtra, but I'm glad you're making the choice that is best for you! Also, you mentioned you're sticking with Oxventure, which is great, but I just want to check and make sure that you're also staying with Mom Can't Cook, because losing you from that would be a step too far!
Yeah Mom Can't Cook is the only silver lining to this. Though the podcast isn't really affiliated with oxboxtra, so unless he makes an announcement there, it's probably fine Oxboxtra have endured UA-cam for over ten years without any member leaving. It made the channels feel like a family. Realistically, this was bound to happen sometime, but it's still shocking and heartbreaking. Terrifying too. Now who knows who else might leave
@@aquelegabriel Not trying to, it's just... Now the card's on the table, and suddenly the possibility of people leaving oxboxtra is real. It's a harsh and cold awakening. I'm not happy about it
@@mar_speedman yeah, I know. It's the sudden realisation that they probably won't continue making videos forever that gets us. But let's hope science advances and they DO continue making videos forever. C'mon, science, do your thing!
@mar_speedman The good news is, he did confirm on Instagram that MCC will continue as normal. It is honestly wild they've been going on strong for so long without anyone leaving so far. I suppose this was always inevitable, but it's sad now that this time has actually arrived.
'Bittersweet' is probably the most apt word I can think of right now. You're both absolutely right, there has been SO much amazing content and shenanigans over the years- and, like a glorious Pokémon (that you can definitely remember the name of), now is the time for it all to evolve into its next form! I love what has already been made- and now I get to look forward to a new take on things from you (and Ellen!) in the future :) Heck yes!
Even as a relatively new discoverer of this channel, i've been avoiding finishing this video for two months now, because i didn't want to face the reality that my favourite duo on youtube were changing what they were doing. I always perk up when i get to see either of you, and believe me that's been a lot for the past while, but the dynamic between you on Show of the Weekend and all your other projects is so incredibly wholesome and brings so, so much joy. Thank you so much you wonderful humans, and here's to the future and showing us that change really is okay. (But not too much change, i've still got a back catalogue to finish working my way through!)
We’ll miss you, Luke! It’s been great. Lots of luck to your future projects. The chemistry you, Ellen and the rest of the crew share is genuinely heartwarming and hilarious, one of the best things I’ve seen in UA-cam.
Sad times. For years Ellen and Luke have been my go to duo to cheer me up. They were one of the main reasons I survived lockdown with my sanity (mostly) intact. I guess in homage it's time to rewatch the Show of the Weekend and Ellen's Souls Academy videos again. Thanks for all the smiles!
I was the exact same in regards to surviving lockdown. These two especially got me through those weird times. I hope they know how much good their silly internet videos have done. It's a lot
@@oranski3299 I really hope so too. A lot of credit also goes to Jane, Mike and Andy. Mike and Luke's FMV zone it's just an absolute treat to watch. Always found myself gravitating towards Luke and Ellen's on screen chemistry / immaturity though.
Completely agree. Remember having a rough job where I finished at 1am on Saturday night. Would rush home to watch SOTW and would always get me laughing and smiling. Luke and Ellen are a real gift.
Yes, please! I would love to see the FMV Zone in some way in the future, Luke! On special occasions? Whether a spooky one as an Oxboxtra guest during Halloween, or another genre entirely at a different time of year! I think those streams are the most I've ever laughed at UA-cam videos. Otherwise, RIP dear, sweet sex bed and *CROW, MIDnight*
I will miss Luke on Outside Xtra, and especially hosting with/playing off of Ellen!! You two have been such a marvellous duo from the get-go and really made Oxtra what it is today! Genuinely some of the warmest on-screen rapport I’ve seen among cohosts and always a delight to witness. Wishing Luke so much luck and joy on your new ventures! I’m glad you’ve found something truly creatively satisfying and I hope you love exploring it further!
I knew he did the BitD music, but I didn't know he did the Deadlands music too. He's a talented musician and will be missed. Thankfully, his presence on Oxventure means his sibling energy with the rest of the crew will still be around for at least a few more years. Haven't seen much of the personal channel, but I enjoyed the video about playing an accordion there.
I didn't know it was possible to feel so devastated and excited at the same time. Thank you, Luke, for years of precious memories! Can't wait to see what's in store for you next!
It will be sad to not have you on Outside Xtra, Luke. I will miss the very unique, wonderful energy that you and Ellen create. And the best part of the spooktober aka your and Andy's FMV zone! But it sounds like you've got some amazing projects and adventures ahead of you. I wish you well with everything and will be following along! It's hard to even say what's my favourite thing about the things you've created over the years. I've saved so many of your videos for rainy days (FMV zones, Kippers's adventures, ACNH shenanigans, remembering 151 pokemon...) and they cheer me up immensely when I'm sick or just feeling gloomy. I also cannot overstate how much your GM journey inspired me! I told myself I'd never start running a new ttrpg system, but Oxventure: Blades in the Dark changed my mind with a single episode. The whole group, but ESPECIALLY your and Johnny's enthusiasm got me into the game and I'm now running two campaign. I drop an oxventure reference every now and there (the first game even began with a mysterious letter) and often use the amzing music you've composed for it. Thank you, genuinely, for everything you've done on Outside Xtra and good luck with everything!
Can’t say I’m not a little bummed out, but I’m glad Luke’s staying around in some capacity and even happier that he’s pursuing what he truly wants to do. I’ve been watching Oxtra since the beginning and they’ve always been my rock, even when friends irl came and went. But I guess all things change. Thanks for all the preshmems Luke
Nooooo!!!! What the actual F?! 💔 Well this certainly wasn’t the 1 million subscribers special I was hoping for… Luke you are so talented, I will follow you and your work wherever you go…
I am so sad to see Luke move on from Xtra, but am so happy he's still going to be around for Venture & getting to work on stuff that he loves. Best wishes for what comes next.
I've seen people cry when their favourite UA-camr signs off of UA-cam before, but I don't know if I've ever felt the same until now. The group at Outside Xtra and Outside Xbox have been so close to my heart and have helped me get through many difficult times that hearing that even one of them is leaving is really painful. But I'm glad to hear that Luke won't be going away completely, that we'll still see him in the D&D sessions. And I'm also really happy that he's found another great calling that he feels passionate about. Thanks for hanging out with us here Luke, and I'm so excited to see what you make in the future! You all are so wonderful, please stay wonderful wherever you go.
The video that introduced me to OX was Luke's very sane and totally reasonable theory that Doom Guy is Link and I haven't regretted the hours upon hours I have spent watching since. Good luck, Luke, hopefully you can visit every so often for some streams.
Thank you Luke. For so many years, you've been a source of comfort, and laughter. I was diagnosed with leukaemia around the time your channel started, so would watch Show of the Weekend videos during treatment and the years of recovery. This was always a place I could come to when I felt overwhelmed, and needed somewhere safe. I'm also about to embark on pursuing music/writing full time - thanks for leading the way, in following your dreams. Wishing you so much luck and love.
Now i've stopped myself from crying - The important thing to remember (apart from all the good times) is that whilst Luke is irreplaceable, and will leave a big (and tall) void - if there will be a new member of the team, they are one of us, and to welcome them with open arms.
Sad to see the end of an era, but excited to see what Luke does next. Also hugs to Ellen for the future. We know how much you've loved working with Luke.
I'm genuinely so sad right now. I fall asleep just about every night listening to show of the weekend or various livestreams and Luke and Ellen's antics are a real comfort that I love to spend time in and revisit. I didn't realise how much I enjoy that comfort until learning that it's going to change. I'm very excited and happy for Luke and all he will take on but DANGIT! IM SAD NOW! Thank you for all the laughter and fun and good and gentle vibes. And thank you for the phrase I have liberally stolen when describing something ridiculous: 'You're already not taking this seriously.' Genuinely crying a little.
I just listened to everything Luke released on Spotify. Having only seen him on oxtra, I was blown away at how much I loved this music. I’m so sad to see you leave, but I’m so glad to see you pursue that dream
I fear I must comment before you're just goneskies by the time I get around to watching this video. Luke, you have been a true delight to watch over the years, your bright and positive outlook has made engaging with what was originally a bit of a side-channel; so much sweeter. I have so many good memories of laughing at yours and Ellen's antics, and I think UA-cam will be ever so less bright without your presence. Your Souls Academy mentorship, your presh mems, your shoddy Pikachu drawings and penchant for "normal things". A one of a kind presenter and host, you'll be missed, mate.
Aww, man. Been here since day 1; I watched you get in that basket. So happy for you as you head into this new adventure, Luke. You will be sorely missed, and we are so grateful for all of these years of presh mems. Thanks for doing all you did to help get us through the past few years. Best of luck with this. ❤️
I found this channel like 4 years ago and since then it's really really helped me get through so much, so thank you for everything you've done over the past years and I hope you enjoy your life going forwards
I’m gonna miss your presence here Luke. You and Ellen have such a lovely friends vibe together and it gives me great comfort. Thanks for the fun times.
"Pals for life." Well, that's all I needed. Rather than the not dying part, that part makes it feel less bad. After all we're all dying. Good luck to you, Luke! Hang on, is this in any way related to the retirement of the Show of the Weekend theme song?
I usually don't comment much on videos but I ha to say thank you to you Luke, and I wish you the best on every project that you start! you are amazingly talented and I'm sure you'll do something great! I'm from Guatemala and outside Xbox and xtra where some of my first British channels that I subscribed and what a joy it is to watch such a talented and kind group of ppl as you guys! love the fact that you are still going to be around, again thank you Luke! for the good moments, the inspiration, the motivation, your talent and your kindness!
This channel and Outside Xbox have been my rock for 9+ years through some seriously hard times. I will miss you on here terribly, but so excited to see where your massive reserves of talent and energy take you next! ❤
LUUUKE I’m so torn because I do so look forward to whatever you’ll bring us, but I will miss your presence here so much! Why, oh why can’t we have time loops and time pockets in which to accomplish all the things we want AND spend time with our families and friends AND leisure and relaxation during the precious time we have? I cannot express the fervency of the well wishes I am sending your way. Thank you for the beautiful content that has inspired me and my own creativity so much, and the genuine goodness of presence that has helped get many of us through hard times. It’s been such a blessing to get to share it all with you.
As a huge fan of lukes music getting more of it is great news and I am delighted he is able to follow his passions. but as A Huge fan of these two as a duo this is absolutely devastating. Luke you are gonna be missed like crazy , thank you for so many laughs and hours of entertainment, for being the one person who shared my dead name that made me not hate it as much , and of course for introducing me to one of my favourite bands PUP. While I am sure outside xtra will still be amazing with ellen at the helm, and I will love every moment of it, the last 7 years will, to me, forever be the pinacle of youtube entertainment and the place I know I can always return to to pick me up when I am down, which peaking of guess its time to rewatch every outside xtra video again :D Good luck on everything you go on to do Luke, You were and will always be the greatest normal adult man.
The great thing about youtube is that every video Luke's contributed to will stay on here for us to enjoy even as he's moved off to better things. We've been so lucky to have this outside xtra team for so long, and like everyone else in the comments I'm so grateful for everything they've done to make our lives a little better with their videos. At the end of the day, though, this is just a job, and no job is more important than personal fulfillment. Good luck to Ellen, Jon and oxboxtra as they adjust to the new setup (and new colleagues?), and above all, fair winds and following seas, Cap'n Luke 🫡
While I'm sad to see Luke go, I'm really excited that he's going off to pursue his dreams! I'm really excited to see what he comes up with. It seems like there have been a lot of big changes in the UK Videogame sphere that I personally hang out in, but it makes me happy rather than sad. I'm glad that creators I enjoy feel supported enough to leave established properties and not feel like they're trapped in a role that doesn't feel great anymore. I'll miss you on Outside Xtra, Luke, but I can't way to discover the songs, games, characters and other creative bits and bobs rattling around in your brain itching to be let out. Best of luck.
My heart sank when I saw this video title... Thank you Luke for so many years of joy and laughter. I have watched since the beginning, and you both have gotten me through some very tough times. Can't wait to see what you do next, Luke.
I'm not crying, you are! That aside, I am happy that Luke is pursuing his dreams and is getting all the support. I have been following this channel on and off since the very early days, usually binge-watching when I felt down or needed a light-hearted distraction. I didn't think this would hit me so hard, but here it is, it hits me. Still, now that I am aware where I can stalk Luke, I will do so. And I'll look forward to whatever changes may come.
First Ash from PS Access, Aoife from Eurogamer, now Luke. Who is going to now be leaving from Oxbox? 😢 On a positive note, I thoroughly enjoyed his Blades in the Dark and hope to see him DM more!
I haven’t played a video game since Tetris. But I found you guys during quarantine and have enjoyed every minute since. Congratulations and best wishes, Luke. Thank you for everything.
I've been avoiding watching this for days as an act of denial. This team of creators has been so magical together. Luke, you deserve all the best things. Good luck on the next leg of your journey!
This channel has been such a comfort to me over the years since I stumbled across it. Especially during the pandemic, I really needed a lot of distraction, and this really hit the spot in terms of tone and humor right when I needed it. Thank you for everything. I look forward to seeing where the channel goes from here, even though there will obviously be changes. Change is a vehicle for growth. It’s great to see everyone giving Luke a nice send-off. Can’t wait to follow what he creates next.
i remember watching the intro of the channel back in middle school and this channel help me keep a smile on my face during the harshest times and so i wanna say Thank you. and based on the comments it is safe to say we all wish you good luck and greater adventures Luke!!!!
Outsidextra started when I started university, Luke and Ellen have been a significant part of my adult life, and I am so grateful for all the incredible work they have done together. Those early outside xtra videos were a great comfort to me as i entered into adult life, navigating a new and scary world at the same time as Luke and Ellen were navigating their new channel. Even though I'm sad to see Luke go, I know that both he and Ellen will continue to do incredible things that will mean as much to me as those early outside extra videos. And I will forever count myself lucky that I got to be here when this shared journey started and ended. Good luck to you both and much love ❤
Just got home from work and am stunned by the news. Luke's now the 3rd presenter to leave their respective channel this year. [For those that don't know, Ashleigh Millman left PlayStation Access in February and is going solo. Aoife Wilson left Eurogamer last month and is on Natural Six.] I'm trying not to get mushy again. 😥 In the 4+ years I've been subscribed to Oxtra, Luke has been quite the character on the channel and a joy to watch. Weekly posts on the channel, Show of The Weekend, Dark Souls Academy, Blades In The Dark, Oxventures - they've all been a joy to watch because of the energy and camaraderie between y'all. [Blades In The Dark is also what got me interested in D&D, later making me a D&D Oxventures fan.] Didn't know Luke was also a musician; will need some time to find his music and give it a listen. 😎 Thank you, Luke, for all that you've done and given to all of us fans and subscribers. Will be looking forward to supporting you further in your next adventures. Absolutely well done! 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
@@Tob1Kadach1 Yeah, I first saw her on WhatCulture Gaming and followed her onto PSA. From the Farewell Ash stream, however, I do understand her reasons for leaving. It's not always easy to embrace a new direction or adventure in life; it's part of expanding one's horizons and talents. She still has my support.
Though a OXtra subscriber from the very beginning (I think…don’t check if that’s even possible), I only watched a SOTW for the first time a couple years ago and immediately connected with your amazing personalities. I’m not sanctioned to speak for the all of the subscribery…but I will and say we all want to have friends like you in our lives. Thanks Andy (and Ellen too) for sharing your talents, quirks, and humor with the community of, well, random UA-cam subscribers. But those of us that have had many-a-day brightened by your work here will always be fans of yours.
Congratulations Luke. You don't know how much you have helped me over the years. I am sad you are leaving but happy you will be moving onto something great. Praise the sun!!
Echoing many other comments here; the primary emotion at these news being bittersweet. I can't imagine Outside Xtra without Luke, and we'll all certainly miss him a lot. But I'm also quite looking forward to see what happens next, on this channel and outside of it. I absolutely loved Gravity RIP, and I'm happy to hear this change was motivated by a drive to dedicate more time to writing and creating similar projects. Change can be hard to stomach, but without it we'd never have the opportunity to discover new stories to tell, new people to surprise and delight us, and all these new things to experience and enjoy together. All the best to Luke and the whole team at OX, and I hope it all goes well.
Haven’t teared up over a farewell video until now. As someone who’s also experienced a lot of personal growth over the last several years, I can definitely relate. You guys have actually become my favorite internet people. It hurts but I’m cheering for you Luke. Can’t wait to see what’s coming.
Long post ahead: Hey there. I am just a humble subscriber to Outside Xtra. I have been a fan ever since I stumbled onto your channel during the pandemic. I know I am just one out of a million subscribers to this wonderful channel so Luke may not even read this but I just wanted to properly give my thanks and to wish you all the best in your future projects. I am feeling both happy and sad with this video. Happy knowing that Luke is taking a risk, pursuing his dreams and passion. Sad knowing that this lovely duo of Luke and Ellen won’t be around much longer. I just wanted you guys to know that this channel genuinely helped me through hard times especially during the pandemic, where I’m pretty sure most of us just wanted an escape. Outside Xtra was one of the most important youtube channels that made me laugh and distracted me with everything going wrong in the world. In summary (TL;DR), from the bottom of my heart, thank you Luke for all the laughs and the memories. You will always be a beloved member of the channel and of this community. I wish you nothing but the best in all your future projects and hope to see your name attached to a huge project (game or gig) soon. PS: Thanks for making this video as light as you possibly can even with the topic as it is. I’ll surely miss the Ellen and Luke duo.
I found this channel pretty recently after seeing the arachnophobe spider ranking video. I thought, "These hosts are pretty funny, I'll check out more." Little did I know I had stumbled upon one of the most wholesome and lovely, and yes also funny pair of people I've ever seen on the internet. The chemistry of Ellen and Luke is off the charts incredible. I wish Luke well on his projects, but I also hope to the sky that they really are as genuine and wholesome as they are on camera and that they never ever drift apart.
NOOOOOOOO! I have feared this day would come. Like a roomate moving to a new city, or s sibling moving out. Best of luck. Go do normal adult things and be blessed. May the presh mems keep us satisfied without his presence. But most of all remember.
Dang and dag Luke - I'll miss you quite dearly, as will we all ÷'[ You guys' videos and energy has helped me a significant amount through a pretty damned rough couple of years, and back towards being a whole and strong person again. This is maybe kind of presumptuous, but I've been able to reconnect with my childhood hobby of makin video games in a more serious capacity in the time since I've started watching y'all's videos - you'd better believe I'm gonna be keeping up-to-date with your no-doubt amazing projects and hopefully, someday, we'll be able to work together. All my love to you Luke (and Ellen!) and best wishes for the future ❤
Luke, while I hope the future is as bright and sunny as you are, I am saddened to see you leave. The energy you and Ellen gave off was very positive and fun and would only escalate like a game of Pong as you both bounced ideas and jokes off each other, so much so that I could feel it emanate from my screen and hit me like a "Web" from Spider-man. I don't envy the entirety of the Oxboxtra team as trying to find a replacement for you feels like a Herculean task as you're definitely one-of-a-kind and that person will have a large shadow looming over them like the recent solar eclipse. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Wait, why is someone chopping onions this early?
This has me shedding tears, but I'm so excited for Luke's future endeavors and wish him all the best! I do hope we'll see him make some cameos every once in a while... Please?
Remember when Luke caught that string fish on AC! My first stream and lead to so many wonderful videos. Luke, you will be missed and best of luck to you
It's always sad when someone leaves, especially in cases like this, where Luke has been here since the beginning, helping to build this channel and its community. It feels like the end of an era. We'll all miss Luke's charisma and the fun he brings. But that's just life. All we can do is wish Luke well and support him in his new journey. So congratulations, Luke, and good luck. I sincerely hope that you make a great success out of what comes next and that you'll enjoy it to its fullest. I look forward to seeing (and hearing) what you create.
Whaaaaat? This came out of nowhere😭 Luke, thanks for all the incredible Presh Mems over the past 8 years. Your kindness, creativity and wit shone through on every video. While it's crushing to see you go, I'm glad you're doing so in the pursuit of your passions. That takes incredible bravery. I know the games and music you'll create will kick all of the ass. Looking forward to whatever comes next, and of course your continued hijinks with the Oxventure gang ❤
Look, I'm not not crying, but I'm so very happy to have shared this space with you, Luke, and I wish you all the best in all your future endeavours! The mental image of Ellen, Jane and Andy looking at Luke in awe as he phones a restaurant to check their availability really cracked me up, though, so thanks!
Awe Luke! It is so sad to see you leave, but so satisfying to watch you as you walk away. I wish you the best of luck, im worried for you being worried. You got this!
...I'm legitimately crying right now. I am in my cube at my office crying. God, I hope my boss doesn't walk by. You are amazing Luke, and I look forward to whatever you got in the works, but I will miss seeing you on this channel week after week.
I got very into Outside Xtra/Xbox during the pandemic lockdowns and your videos have been a consistent source of joy and comfort! Show Of the Weekend were some of the first videos I really got into watching, the two of you have have such a positive energy as co-hosts and it was always a very comforting thing to watch during a hard and uncertain time. I'm very much one of those people that enjoyed tuning in with my Saturday morning coffee when I had the chance! Thank you so much for all the fun and laughter over the years, the two of you really created something special together and the wonderful community you talk about is a result of the energy all of you at oxtra bring to your videos
You're my favourite presenter Luke (don't tell the others!) and it won't be the same without you. I've been watching this channel since the very start, crazy how much time flies. Best of luck with your future endeavours Luke! :D Also we're gonna need an hour long video of precious memories to look back on.
Watching the precovid show of the weekend was my favorite time of the week, and I will miss Luke's and Ellen's chemistry dearly Godspeed and good luck, Sir Luke
Okay, so intially I'm really sad about this because you two have got me through a lot with your videos and shenanigans. For example, driving lessons used to give me a lot of anxiety but what always helped me get through them was knowing I had a Show of the Weekend to watch when I got back. You two have been tremendous together as Outside Xtra and as part of the whole OX team so thank you so much for that. However with me being initially sad out of the way, I am so excited for Luke and proud of him to see him following his passions and I can't wait to see what he comes up with. We've had the immense pleasure of seeing Luke's work through OX content and now he'll have more time to focus solely on that it will be exciting to see what else he produces. Thank you Luke for everything you have done for this channel and OX in general! Much love and hope everything goes well for you ❤
In German, we have a saying that you leave "mit einem lachenden und einem weinenden Auge" (translated: with a smiling and a tearful eye). The two of you have been reliable companions for me during some pretty dark times. And lockdown. And I still remember that time Luke caught that Oarfish. It was so good. I love Gravity Rip and I am excited to see you do more of that because I can literally HEAR YOU narrating the rules and it's perfect and I know you will do an awesome job with any new project. And I still remember that time you caught that (other) Oarfish. And the music you composed for Blades in the Dark and Deadlands and Oxventure is BEAUTIFUL. And "Literally everybody else in the world" is one of my go-to songs when I am feeling down. And I don't want you leave, but I also can't wait to see what you'll do next. Thanks for the most preshes of mems, Luke and Ellen, and I wish all of us - the Oxventure team, the amazing community and Luke - a good time and success at our future endeavors!
Nooo....I will miss Luke. I liked the sibling energy between him and Ellen. Wish him well on his new adventures.
It’s definitely sad, but I’m excited at the prospect of playing more Luke-themed tabletop games and listening to more Luke-composed music ☺️
Ellen and Luke were such a good co-host pair. They meshed well with their energies.
Same, it's bittersweet, almost melancholy... its sad to see him go, but it'll be good to see more of his specific work too
Yes, 'sibling energy' is such a good way of putting it! ❤
@@damianfry2080 I have no proof but I'll blame Ashley Millman. not sure why/how, but time seems right.....
i double checked the date this was uploaded just to make sure it wasnt an april fools video that i somehow just missed for 9 days

Same here, 😭
Wouldve been funny if they posted this on April 1st. The April fools prank was that they were serious
For real though!
I can't help but hope that it is a delayed april fools joke. (But i don't believe it)
"I'm not leaving, I'm not dying, but I am leaving." somehow has so much Dob energy. Best of luck Luke!
But, I am also very happy about you still being part of Oxventure :)
I will definitely check out your new stuff, not just because I like your music and the things you do, but also because you are one of the most memorable people I've seen on the internet and it is always a joy and pleasure to see your content!
So, again, thank you so much for your work so far and godspeed for your future endeavours!
Absolutely couldn't agree more I said very much the same thing❤
Couldn’t say it better❤️🔥

I hope he gets what he’s looking for
I read that as 'mostly unhinged' and it still checked out. 😆
@@cyanimation1605 Can't wait for the Chumbo arc
Same... I started DMing Blades in the Dark because of Luke! :( Talk about a bittersweet farewell.
@@21psawyer Couldn't agree more! So many classic streams, it was the one redeeming feature of the pandemic
To quote Andy, "I've never been this angry"
I am so angry in so many directions.
I remember this oxtra quote - what’s it from???
Yeah I can hear him saying it but can't place where/when.

That’s what kept you going?
I’m sad for your life if that’s true. Go live a little. Literal Outside is nice.

Thank you for sharing fren.
100% this.

Well said!
Pretty sure I went through all 7 stages of grief in less than 15 minutes. We'll miss you, and good luck Luke.
I think i'm stuck at denial 😢
You two were lightning in a bottle together. Thank you for the time you put in, Luke.
Good luck with the dreams Luke, and I hope Ellen will continue the channels great legacy of silliness, or whatever she wants to do!❤ aight I’m gonna go cry a bit now …
Same❤😢
How is Ellen not breaking too?
This has genuinely broken my heart... I've been watching you guys since Day 1, and while OxBoxTra has my heart forever, it will never be the same without Luke... We'll miss you dearly
EDIT: I was not ready for the slightly different (key changed?) SOTWE outro music at the end... Goodbye Luke, you beautiful, amazing, normal adult man
I was definitely hoping for a late April Fool’s Day Joke 😢
However:
Thank you so much Luke for being such a valuable part of this team and this channel for so long.
Though the podcast isn't really affiliated with oxboxtra, so unless he makes an announcement there, it's probably fine
Oxboxtra have endured UA-cam for over ten years without any member leaving. It made the channels feel like a family. Realistically, this was bound to happen sometime, but it's still shocking and heartbreaking. Terrifying too. Now who knows who else might leave

I’ve watched you guys since the day the channel began, I’m gonna miss you Luke 😢 Thanks for everything!
Yes 100% outside xbox crew, twoset violin, and neebs gaming were instrumental in helping lockdown being a breeze.
I'd like to propose the "Luke's FMV Zone" keeps its name in remembrance. Happy for you Luke. It's an amazing thing you are doing. 😊
I'm praying he make an exception for a once or twice a year fmv zone
Even better, I propose he come back as a guest star for more FMV shenanigans every year.
Ikr, so many feelings

Im not crying.
You're crying.

Edit: this has actually really bummed me out.
Same Luke is my favorite 😢
I am in fact crying 😢
We’re all crying. 😭 but change happens, and I think we’ll be ok 🙂
5 stages of grief aside, I wish him all the best because he deserves it.
Thanks for all the presh mens 💜
So long Luke, you're one of the top 5 XO presenters of all time
I'm actually crying right now. I'm glad to hear you're pursuing your dreams, Luke. Just know that we're all going to miss you over here! 💜
And thank you for the phrase I have liberally stolen when describing something ridiculous: 'You're already not taking this seriously.'
Genuinely crying a little.
I didn't realize that my years of admin skills would be so valuable; I can call restaurants with no fear. 😂
But I am crying now. 😢
Luke going out with a giggle has to be the epitome of apropos! Best of luck in all of your future endeavors, Luke!
Rights must've been too much.
I'm glad retiring the song then Luke leaving was a two step process, tbh. Whatever the reason.
Thanks for the good memories Luke and good luck on your new ventures in life!
Thank you Luke!!..I'm going to cry now..
While I am sure outside xtra will still be amazing with ellen at the helm, and I will love every moment of it, the last 7 years will, to me, forever be the pinacle of youtube entertainment and the place I know I can always return to to pick me up when I am down, which peaking of guess its time to rewatch every outside xtra video again :D
Good luck on everything you go on to do Luke, You were and will always be the greatest normal adult man.
Hanging out with you virtually has been a privilege and a joy, Luke. See you on the high seas!
I mean UA-cam does purge videos at times so there is really no guarantee the vids will stay around without fans reuploading them or something.
You say that, but with the state of UA-cam, I've been worried about the backlog for a while. Hope someone archives all these videos
Change is the only constant, but you'll be sorely missed Luke. Looking forward to your next adventures. ❤
This broke my heart. Im goona miss him. The way Ellen held her tears back is nothing short of courageous.
Crying... like loosing a friend almost... I wish you nothing but the best Luke Westaway! Thank you for all the laughs and the memories! ❤
Feel like it's the end of an era for games UA-cam journalism
Right?!? Is something in the water?
Oh no, please don't let Oxbox break up as well!
I have never clicked on a video faster
Same
Same, gutted.
Seeing Luke’s humor is the main reason I tune in 😔
Same 🥺
I literally clicked on it less than 10 seconds after release.
Yeah, same.
What??? 🥺
Yall April fools was on the first don’t play me like this
I’m so happy for you Luke, even with my heart shattering 😢
In the 4+ years I've been subscribed to Oxtra, Luke has been quite the character on the channel and a joy to watch. 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
I was so pissed when Ash left PlayStation Access. Followed her there from WhatCulture
Long post ahead:
Hey there.
Dang and dag Luke - I'll miss you quite dearly, as will we all ÷'[
You guys' videos and energy has helped me a significant amount through a pretty damned rough couple of years, and back towards being a whole and strong person again.
Luke, you will be missed and best of luck to you
Aw man.
Thank you for everything, Luke - you guys helped keep me sane through lockdown.
Whaaaaat? This came out of nowhere😭
Luke, thanks for all the incredible Presh Mems over the past 8 years.
Best of luck in the future Luke! I'll be keeping an eye out for what's next!
You are amazing Luke, and I look forward to whatever you got in the works, but I will miss seeing you on this channel week after week.
yeah, I actually had to wait 'till I got home to actually open the notification I got while at work
@@angstbringer2992Saw the title getting ready for work......
Also we're gonna need an hour long video of precious memories to look back on.
Watching the precovid show of the weekend was my favorite time of the week, and I will miss Luke's and Ellen's chemistry dearly
Godspeed and good luck, Sir Luke
