I dont mind you alter a pattern at all. In fact, I learned I can be creative and think outside of the box to improve a design to my liking. I'm learning the most from trying things out and making mistakes. Frogging is no frustrating thing anymore cause it teaches me new things. I guess I'm more brave and self-conscious with my crocheting since I watch your endeavors 😊
The astigmatism struggle with jumping lines while reading is so true! It is so confusing when I start reading and then the next line makes no sense and I find out that I jumped one or more lines and have to go back and read again 😅. Don't worry, everyone with astigmatism can relate, Corinna, it is not a "you" problem, it is normal to misread because it happens all the time specially with small font text.
Knit Companion is a wonderful source for all knitters and crocheters. You can highlight the line you’re working on.n. OK it won’t work on a printed pattern but I can almost always find a PDF.
I've tried to watch this about 3 times now and keep falling asleep!!! It's not an insult, you're just soooo relaxing! your videos are by far my favorite crochet videos.
I agree with all the "liberties" you took...lol! I have absolutely no problem when you change up a pattern...I firmly believe that women have been making things work since the beginning of time! Great video - love these mystery patterns!!!
A hint to figure out if the pattern is US or UK (besides looking for sc) - look for words like color and center (used in the US) vs colour and centre which is used in the rest of the English-speaking world
I have used a lot of coasters, made a lot of coasters, am making coasters to give for Christmas. Out of the ones I've used the ones made out of cotton are better. They adsorb the condensation that drips down the glass, and heat does not melt them. I am assuming that is why in all the patterns I've been using they call for cotton yarn. Love the tiger look of your coasters, and I have been using that stacked single crochet a lot and like the look of it so much. Thank you for introducing it to me. Never too late for an old crocheter to learn a new trick.
I guess I just accidentally learned why it’s important to slip into the next stitch!! I’ve been crocheting for 20 years but I’m mostly self taught and I was always stubborn about this specific instruction
So cute, Corinna! I love it when you modify patterns to fit your crochet style! (e.g. stacked scs instead of ch 3) As you've said before, the crocheters in the 1800s probably modified the pattern themselves. If they even HAD patterns. A lot of them probably had to reverse-engineer their items from a finished item. If it bothers watchers when you don't follow the pattern exactly, they can do the pattern themselves to satisfy that itch. Don't let the naysayers mess with your fun. I feel sad when you say people are probably going to be upset that you didn't follow the pattern exactly, because your voice has such a hurt sound. Keep up the good and fun work! You are awesome!
Thank you for doing this video! The coasters are really cute. About the 24/7 cotton …. It is fabulous to use. I have never been disappointed with it. Lots of color choices.
Dear Corinna. You have No idea how much I enjoy your content. I love it. Also, your voice is so soothing that sometimes I put on one of your playlists just to sleep. Your voice is like a lullaby. I’m so happy that you also make Tunisian crochet. It’s new to me that it’s that old. I’ve been “hakking” for 15 years thinking it’s a new technique. Please make a playlist with tricot crochet. (Afghan, Tunisian whatever.) And please just keep the hook working. You are the one to keep me sane.
Altering a pattern in my book is the norm, I can’t remember the last time I worked a pattern exactly as written. I think that it was even more the norm in vintage patterns as the writer often left out obvious instructions they assumed everyone would know. Another great video & I’m intrigued to see the first pattern you picked that was incomplete. ❤️❤️👏👏🇬🇧
YOUR NAILS!!!! LOVE 'EM! Oh, Corinna, they're beautiful! 😍😍😍 I checked online to see that Camel color & LB has a photo that's right on the money. The color combo is so precious! I love that Camel color, very autumn! You did a beautiful job on this video. Thank you! Much love, and Threadhead hugs.
You nailed it! Hooray! You'll absolutely need more than one set, since every holiday should have its own set. And yes, please continue to make these things your own; sometimes, it's the only way to see a pattern through. I don't really care to work with cotton yarn, but my next two projects require it, so I'm learning. It simply doesn't have the same life to it as acrylic. I'm looking forward to finishing up, because I've got socks to knit for Christmas, in all sorts of colors and sizes. I'm glad I'm good at math, it made writing the pattern so easy!
These are so cute. My grandmother made this same pattern. She made them for the summertime, and they looked like watermelon. Wow! Thank you for this wonderful memory . ❤
I always love these mystery patterns and there's been some absolutely gorgeous one's you've done in previous videos, but this is my favourite one so far this year. Had to drop everything and make this right away. Thankyou for sharing. Also hope we get to see you work the first one you picked cause that sounded very interesting 😊
It is so much fun to watch you recreate these patterns whilst I am doing my own Fiber crafting. 25 years ago, I had a subscription to a House of White Birches vintage Crochet magazine. I can’t recall the name atm, but I loved trying to figure out the old patterns. They contained such lovely household patterns and things for babies. Your nails are 🔥 🔥🔥.
Love your Manna crafts WIP! Keep us posted! I want to see you wearing that. Ive always been scared to make crochet clothes. This may inspire me to try crochet clothes patterns.
I enjoy watching you make these old patterns. I think that there's nothing wrong w/ changing a crochet project, as long as you get the same result. I change crochet a lot when I watch tutorials when making projects, and they generally stll look like what the person I was just watching in the tutorial made.
BTW, I'm making a blanket for my hubby, and the 2 rows are alternating. After I make the ch, I'm supposed to sc, then dc next and rep until my project is as big as I want. So, for me, I changed it to dc, sc. It will work out, and be just as nice.
I randomly found your video 3 mins after you'd posted, I immedeately started to watch, and I do like the pattern, simple and easy. Although, when the pattern said: KEEP FLAT That's when I thought: This is most likely a coaster. It's really pretty though
Hello Corrina, I love your little coasters they're cute. Also the brown shawl type wrap that your crocheting is very beautiful. Looking forward to seeing that when it's done. Thank you for the video today. Looking forward to the next one.❤😮
i think it is cute too i love it and i want to make some too and love the colors i dont see why people get so upset when you change a pattern it is ok to be different i love it when you do that you be you and dont listen to the negative people i love your videos and you fur baby is just so adorable love him. God bless you and your family .love from Tennessee
The coasters turned out great! Maybe going forward have either US or UK written on the pattern near the year so you know which terminology you will be using. 😉. I love that waist scarf pattern! It looks so Boho!🥰
I really like the way two stitches worked into the space instead of two in the stitch. Very cool. I will have to play with this technique. Thank you! And cotton was a great choice for….no spoilers, what these turned out to be. :-)
Hello Corinna, the coasters and the coaster box are very cute and useful. I like them, too. Roosa Lundström is the designer of Maana Crafts and she comes from Finnland.
Yayyy I was right! They turned out cute and I always always alter patterns just like you do. I want my start/end of round to look like the rest of the round. So it probably would bother me more if you didn't do it lol. ❤
When I do color changes like this, I keep it from tangling by holding one yarn in the front as I change and the other I hold in the back, so like whenever you change from tan to dark brown, hold the tan strand toward the front and keep the tan skein on the left. When switching to tan, hold the dark brown in the back and keep the dark brown skein on the right. I hope that makes sense.
I like this !! Gonna make in different colors !! Wow that is so cute the hip thingy it will look great with what you have in mind ! Show a pic on community plz
I have Hobbii sport cotton in my hands now. I LOVE Hobbii cottons in a #1 #2 & #3. My hands hurt too badly to use #4 or larger any more. I would have predicted it would be the opposite …..thick yarn would be easier….but I found the exact opposite. I forget about the stacked single….I’m back to using it now!
The "after thought" of the fiesta colours in the printing was intentional. To keep the colour printing costs low in this era you will find block printing or stamping of details and colours. This technique wan done in sewing patterns, craft patterns and books of all sorts
I dont mind you alter a pattern at all. In fact, I learned I can be creative and think outside of the box to improve a design to my liking. I’ve always been the “what would happen if I did it this way instead” type of person. Making it my one of a kind.
I’m a wonderful flogger too!
The colors you used makes it look like a cookie.
I bet white and red would make it look like a peppermint.
Oh shit, is that why I skip lines more often now??
Knit Companion is a wonderful source for all knitters and crocheters. You can highlight the line you’re working on.n. OK it won’t work on a printed pattern but I can almost always find a PDF.
Sometimes see doubles of letters or numbers and often have a doubling halo. I often print out the pattern larger, which helps.
That trick with the post-it's to keep track of where you are in the pattern is great.
Here here! I always use a book mark to keep from wandering through the rows when I read.
I've tried to watch this about 3 times now and keep falling asleep!!! It's not an insult, you're just soooo relaxing! your videos are by far my favorite crochet videos.

Color changing blood reds! Love the nails.🎉

I came to the comments to say this but you said it better. ♥️
I just get in such a good mood everytime I have you on screen Corina! Never stop 🥰
You did a great job on the coasters! Ohh, and to be young again and be able to wear that adorable crochet skirt. You have to show us how it came out!
Thank you for doing this video! The coasters are really cute.
About the 24/7 cotton …. It is fabulous to use. I have never been disappointed with it. Lots of color choices.
I love these little coasters and I love how you adjust the patterns to suit your own style ❤️❤️❤️
I love the color and shimmer of your nails. Oh, and I like your project too!,

These coasters turned out so very cute. Would love to see the finished skirt. ❤

I've never seen one of your videos so early! Normally I see ....months ago or ...years ago! It's nice to see it the day of!

I saw watermelon colors for summer coasters. Red or pink with black seeds. Edge in green and make case green. So cute!

Thank you for showing a great tutorial in changing colours. Even the touch of bringing up the wool on the edge for the next row. ❤
Those colors are great together. Reminds me of a woven basket. Great job!❤🙂
I love this pattern. They make great gifts for neighbors & stocking suffers! Thank you for sharing it!
The coasters make a pretty little gift! I think i'll make some 😊
These are so cute. My grandmother made this same pattern. She made them for the summertime, and they looked like watermelon. Wow! Thank you for this wonderful memory . ❤

The coasters are so cute! I don't mind at all when you adapt a pattern. :)

You have such pretty hands. And I see how handy it is to have nails.

wasnt expecting coasters! the skirt will look great
I like them! LOVE those nails! That work in progress is gorgeous!
Really cute. They would be great Christmas gifts.

I am almost done with a wrap cardigan from maana. Love her pattern.
The coasters turned out great! Maybe going forward have either US or UK written on the pattern near the year so you know which terminology you will be using. 😉. I love that waist scarf pattern! It looks so Boho!🥰
I absolutely love those nail❤ the coasters are cute I prefer the slightly larger ones

Cute mystery and project!!!
Great job 🎉
Love that pattern a must try thank you

Thank you so much for your hard work you do...! 💜 I love you and all you are...! 🎉🎉❤
Yayyy I was right! They turned out cute and I always always alter patterns just like you do. I want my start/end of round to look like the rest of the round. So it probably would bother me more if you didn't do it lol. ❤
Looks like a pie. Lovely.
I have missed your videos!!!
Cute
Though i think i would have used the dark color on the last round
It was really fun to watch you figure out the pattern and even improve it
Cute coasters.
Those are really nice!
The coasters would make a great way to use up scrap yarn as well. I like these!
When I do color changes like this, I keep it from tangling by holding one yarn in the front as I change and the other I hold in the back, so like whenever you change from tan to dark brown, hold the tan strand toward the front and keep the tan skein on the left. Love that nail color
I bought that design pattern. I made it for a friend. I also bought the top she wears with it.
You've made me feel so much better about making small changes so my pattern looks nicer... Thank you!!!
The "after thought" of the fiesta colours in the printing was intentional. To keep the colour printing costs low in this era you will find block printing or stamping of details and colours. This technique wan done in sewing patterns, craft patterns and books of all sorts
Love the nails!
Ok, you have to get to that 1862 pattern real soon!
Yooohoo Corinna. You forgot an a in pattern.
And now I will watch the video 🥰
I really enjoy your videos, I've learned a lot by watching.
BTW I love your nails what are you using, the color is beautiful!
23:00 it looks like a cookie 🍪 😂❤
My new motto...
Laziness pays off. 😂
If you did the same pattern with white and red they would make really cute candy cane coasters for Christmas!!
I was thinking the same thing! Or you could do green and white, red and white, and red and green if you want to get really crazy😂
These are super cute. If you made them green and red they would look like Christmas baubles!
I like it. If you did do white as main color and red for the color it would look like peppermints.
Your colorway reminds me of chocolate chip cookies lol. I was thinking red and black with green edge would be cute watermelons!
I love your videos. Did you notice that you should have slip stitched down the chain. 😊
Yes, I mentioned that in the video
Cute, cute, cute.
Use with bigger glasses 😂 ❤❤
Those are so cute! They remind me of chocolate chip cookies in the colors you chose.
