They do teach this history in schools and I learned it very well in American AP U.S. history. Which to add context for myself I earned a 4 on with 5 being the maximum score that could of been achieved. Yes these African Americans existed in government as republicans but over time what it is the party wanted to do as a governing body began to shift to what it exist as now.
