The shadow self archetype from Jungian psychology is a recurring popular theme of Shonen Manga and anime, Kiyuubi, Sukuna, and White(Ichigo's Hollow) are all exemples of the shadow self in anime representation. They are symbolic manifestations of our darkest most repressed part, and if harnessed are potential for great growth and power. in short we could use these stories we love to our benifit, for growth and self development.

12:04 “And we love that shit, don’t we?”
I think that’s my most significant takeaway from this wonderful missive you’ve written. What we despise in ourselves, we often celebrate in our art. Art offers the individual an opportunity to safely explore their darkness. It’s why, similar to our early ancestors gathering around fires and sharing stories, we gather in droves and go to movie theaters, why we have “Netflix nights” with our friends. Experiencing the shadow in art will never, EVER supplement a legitimate confrontation with the black beast, but it certainly aids in preparation. Thanks for the great work! Subbed!
