I wish we could have gotten the Witch-King’s helmet instead of just a normal Wraith

@@TiagoCatarino the previous witch king crown is only $5 on bricklink. Yea technically that makes it easy to buy that as an alternative but what would've made a new one so sought after the set becomes "insanely priced". Still agree this should be a retail set regardless

I like the large sets, but 100% agree they need to do smaller sets and battle packs along side the large ones. There’s easily a market for 5-8 smaller lotr sets every single year

@@Wealth_Wisdom_Discernmentactually surprised there isn’t an orc battle pack releasing with this set so you can “build an army worthy of Morder” and fill Baradur out more. Just print the red and green orcs in this set into oblivion.
In my opinion, a lot of gwp's could be sold pretty well as a regular set.
And in this case: absolute. Next to a small set of Gollum, Frodo and Sam which is now included in the big set which does not make any sense. I mean: the only way they see Barrad Dur is in the distance.
Yeah I wish the bricks spent on Sam frodo and gollum were used for like a more detailed Fell Beast or something. But they're still nice to have now 🤷
the most expensive lotr set in 2013 was $200. The cheapest in 2024 is $460

It comes from the fact that GWP sets usually can’t have custom made parts of prints. If that’s the case, the second best option would be stickers. And this one desperately needed some
I am betting we will see a beefier version of this Fell Beast & Nazgul in a future set. I doubt the wings & torso will remain exclusive to this GWP. ...now someone remind me to check this comment in 1 year to see if I'm a fool of a Took.
The torso reminds me of the torso that Darth Maul has in one of the earlier Star Wars sets.
This set exists for one reason and one reason only....to pressure fans/collectors to make an early impulse buy for the Barad-dûr set. It's a goofy looking Fel Beast at best and glad they didn't pack in the Witch King with it....which would only pressure fans/customers to run out and buy Barad-dûr. How about give us a $50-60 set taking inspiration from the great Ninjago dragons?? A $200-250 Barad-dûr, non playset/architecture design? Take inspiration from what they are doing with Star Wars. Would be nice to set some LOTR diorama sets and mini scale sets in the vein of Star Wars sets.

Rivendell was supposed to be one of a kind set but we now have two proper Lotr sets so there's hope!

There is no message to get. LotR had an entire affordable line already when the movies were still relevant. Did everyone forget? Kids aren't going to buy them now. Only adult collectors. It wouldn't be profitable at all for Lego to do another entire line based on those older movies. I love the LotR movies, but I agree with Lego in this case as it wouldn't make sense financially. Rivendell must have done well since they made Barad-dur in the same style / price point.
@@leader_one yeah I'm sure Rivendell did really well.. doubt barad'dur is going to do as well, but it'll do good too. Next up 10k brick Minas Tirith featuring The Witch King, gandalf the white, theoden, couple of soldiers and orcs. All that for the very premium and low price of 1000 big bucky bois. Heck they might even do battle packs to fill up the set and earn a bit extra ontop.

The set they made exclusively for influencers and eBay scalpers. A lot of people got screwed out of what was intended as a free gift for spending that much.
I actually like the head design they achieved without eye stickers. The fell beast eyes were so small anyways. Plus no stickers in sight (from the front) with everything on display gives that LEGO “purest” feel. Chefs kiss to both of these on display.
No doubt we’ll get smaller sets in the near future. I can see LEGO doing Bag End next. Also imagine we’ll get another Fell Beast retail set that’s like the recent Hungarian Horntail. As for Minis Tirith, I think we’ll get a big set similar to Barad-Dur with it being a display set in the front, and minifig scale scenes in the back. And finally nano scale options like the recent hogwarts castle
As the Fell beast was more worm like that a dragon its pretty well done. Just trying to decide if i open my copy or save it. Cant wati to start bulding Barad Dur its an amasing set

Lego needs to remake this and make it an actual set, they need a new helmet for the wich king and they should make a custom head for the fell beast like the gringotts dragon head
kinda glad that the GWP is not super great, that means i can wait to get Barad-Dûr on sale without feeling too bad about it. it is a decent set though
Lmao the fell beast was sold out here seconds after release. Thanks lego now i can have some time to reconsider barad dur. Im not sure what to feel or think
Hopefully LEGO will have the sense to make an actual Fell Beast set with good details
Unfortunately because this was a GWP they weren't able to make any new molds which this desperately needed. The head just looks bizarre without a special mold.
This is great to get for free! But it would be nice to get some real playsets 😂
So excited for the set and the GWP. Also if anyone wants to hang up the GWP or any flying Lego creature, I recommend using a fishing line. it’s great for hanging up LEGO. 😄
Got the play scale Falcon and Slave 1 hanging from planter hooks with heavy pound fishing line in my living room. It's a nice touch.

For next year, they should do Minas Tirith or Bag End as the big set and a few dioramas. Like the water horses / arwens standoff from Fellowship to go with Rivindell, a proper Mount Doom diorama to go with Barad-Dur or a Pelennor Field diorama. I like the idea of the gwps having something to to with the big set as well, so they could do Gandalfs carriage or one of the Gondor beacons for either Bag End or Minas Tirith. Some battle packs would also be really cool!
They will definitely make Minas tirith or morgul because they can make a lot of money if they include the witch King

Honestly I think a better practice would be to have the sets start as a gift with purchase and then like 2 weeks after the GWP bonus end’s making it a pubic solo purchase.
Surely someone will Etsy up some custom stickers to give it properly evil eyes.
One of the biggest problems with that GWP is that just a few hours this set was already out of stock.

This should have been a small diorama with Eowyn, Lich King, Theoden and armored Merry.
They should have included some armour and helmet so you can change your random Ring Wraith into the Witch king of Angmar!
I like the orange lighting at the start - makes a good atmosphere given the sets!
The Fellbeast gwp was enticing enough for me to buy Barad-dûr at midnight. I do not have Rivendell yet. All I need is Merry & Pippen to complete The Fellowship.💀I wish LEGO would also bring back The Pirates of the Caribbean theme with a special Black Pearl in "UCS" form. The og is going for those prices anyway.. 😅
This GWP gave me the opposite of fomo. These big LOTR sets are so cool but i just haven’t had it in my budget to get
A small set with the beast, Witch king and Eowyn would've been an instant hit, I guess.

I’m kind of waiting for the LEGO group to make $1050 Lego set and tell us it’s justifiable price maybe I’ll have about 4000 pieces count one figurine and 200 stickers for an immersive experience I kind of feel like we’re not that far off. I don’t think this is inflation. I think this is just greed. Lol
the Marketprice for this on ebay is insane.. i already saw some sells on EU for 200 euros.. wtf is going on, why are people paying 200 bucks for this..

So basically it's a very budget ninjago dragon build on top of an hilariously priced shelf rider. Lego, you are going down the wrong path.

Such a wasted non-GWP set opportunity! Lego could have made the dragon bigger, give it bendable wings and a molded head, include the king Nazgul, Eowyn, Merry and some soldiers, it would sell out in minutes

I get kinda sad you can’t buy a lot of those gift sets. There’s a lot I wish I could’ve gotten.
I personally feel like Barad Dur overpriced but then I bought the Lego dungeons and dragon castle and I got the strategy guide and the Lego mimic chess so I feel like that was justify expense and if I got one more exquisite set it either be Iion knight castle mos Isley Cantina or if I’m lucky LEGO Rivendell

I will resist the urge to buy immediately barad-dur only for the GWP. It's not that great, and it is something that knock-off from AliExpress could do a good/greater job with similar value price. But definitely I would buy an original set if LEGO decide to do a better version and sale it the normal way.
They are giving this away with Rivendell in these parts. I got nothing with mine last year. :( Oh wait, I did get the potted plant...
The legs feature two new and exclusive recolours so it is impossible to build as is.
Why isn't this a normal GWP which you can get with any set? I don't want to buy the Barad-dur to be honest, too expensive. I would like to have this though.
I am sad that LEGO has started using FOMO in its marketing... many video games use it as well to sell skins and packs.
I like Lord of the Rings and would happily buy nice Lego sets to display them, but these are crazy expensive as well as taking up tons of space.
So I hate to see a set like this being locked behind one of those.
I would say after the Huge Success of the Rivendell and maybe rather good Success with Barad Dur we could expect a Huge LotR Wave in 2026 when the 1st Movie has its 25th Anniversary!

Lego gwp are kinda missing the mark lately, consider the battle droid carrier and how as a £26 set it would've 100% been one of the best selling sets of the year as it is an amazing set that is a huge battle droid army builder and yet for some reason lego decided to make it a limited time gwp and the same thing is happening here. I was lucky enough to get 2 droid carriers and yet whilst i do plan on getting barad dur, i won't have the money in time to get the gwp and so i feel like im missing out on a set with a figure and i build i really want and would buy separately from barad dur if i had to bc i wont have enough money for 1 to 4 weeks
Do we know for certain that this is a GWP _only_ with Barad-dûr, and not with, say “Lego LotR sets totaling at least US$460”? I.e., would buying Rivendell tomorrow qualify for this GWP?
(I generally use my VIP points for big-set discounts, and decided a while ago that Rivendell was going to be my big purchase this year. Haven’t been buying much because of budget, but by scanning old instructions and old Target receipts [thanks for those new ways to gain points, TLG!], I finally got the points I need to make Rivendell affordable a couple months ago. So I’ve just been waiting for either a desirable GWP or a sale. Love this Fell Beast set; no interest at all in Barad-dûr, even if I could afford it (whole bunch of other LEGO higher on my list, if money wasn’t tight). So I was thinking I might order Rivendell tomorrow, if that would get me a Fell Beast.)

I still can't believe they went with this lame brick built fell beast instead of the one in the Lego Lord of the Rings video game which looks SIGNIFICANTLY better in every way possible. The plus side is this GWP is so mid I don't feel bad skipping out on it.

It’s not scalpers baby, it’s just fans buying for themselves. There’s a limit of 2 sets. I think almost no one is buying 2 with the $460 price
yes ,you are a fan and so am I....but not these scalpers who put this set already on ebay for a sky high price...these are no fans. Also Lego is to blame for...they should sell this to the insiders till 3rd of June....and donso many fellbeasts as necesarry....I am really angry about that matter....now I do not have this fellbeast....
