- Kevin Durant finally breaks his silence, congratulating the Golden State Warriors on their NBA Finals win while commenting on his legacy being in question on social media. The Brooklyn Nets player is taking shots left and right now that the Warriors have succeeded in getting a title without him, and when it was suggested by a Twitter user that his legacy was now dead, KD responded that his legacy died back in 2016. Nick Wright and Chris Broussard share their thought son KD's response, and whether they agree his legacy is in question with the Warriors' win, especially after the Nets experienced an early playoff exit.

My gosh that sounds terrible. But then again in all time discussions KD and Lebron are not in the same breath
That’s CRAZY
@@bayodaman facts! Great offensive force but results matter. His time in OKC keeps him out of the top 10. Up 3-1 to GSW in a year almost people felt they will win the chip since they have been to the finals before and we’re knocking on the door!

We need to stop that “KD took the warriors to new heights” foolishness. That team was one game away from being the most successful team anyone alive has ever seen. He stood on the shoulders of a giant and said ‘look how tall I am now’
He made them unbeatable. They can clearly win without him but with him no team in nba history could beat them…
He did they became unstoppable.. without him they probably wasn’t getting past Lebron anymore
They don’t beat Lebron without him and he doesn’t make the finals without them. Simple.
I could of swore the warriors went seeking KD to overcome LeBron. Yeah Stephs team but KD made them unbeatable…without him they don’t win 2…so give KD credit

Warriors with KD = champs
Warriors without KD = Raptors in 6

Basketball is a team game so of course every team member matters and team composition matters but you conveniently ommitted the fact that klay was missing in 2019, 2020, 2021. In 2019 he didnt miss all the games but both KD and Klay was injured some of the finals games
@@kingsfordoteng7684 How does Steph win the scoring title in the 20/21 season but not have Steph? Klay is a fair argument, but my point was that it takes team composition. That's what ppl don't get. The audacity in saying that Steph/Warriors needed KD without ever mentioning how he needed them more to get his first rings, that's why it's only right if this stuff gets back to bite Kd's legacy. Well until he proves us wrong just like Steph did.
KD chose Kyrie. It's not 100% on him, but when superstars construct teams, they're not quite innocent bystanders when things go wrong

Cementing your legacy as an all time great involves more than just skill and talent.. There are a lot of skillful and talented players in the league. Being an all time great involves winning, team culture and how you impacted the game.. If we are ranking all time skilled players, we can rank Durant at the top 5 debatable... But this is all time great... He needs to prove more than just skills.. Leadership and impact on the game must be shown
I 100% agree with yo point but I disagree with KD being top 5 skilled ever offensively I’d say yes I’d say he’s the best natural scorer ever but in totality defense matters and he’s not even close to Akeem Lebron jordan Kobe Wilt Kareem These dudes were just as good and some better than KD on offensive and miles ahead on defense I believe that puts them head and shoulders above KD from a skill perspective
i’m sorry but u can discredit kds rings but u can’t discount them bc they’re in the record books and u can’t change the record books unfortunately so that makes kd an all time great
This didn’t give us new info, just confirmed what we already knew. The warriors were literally a 73 win team, who won a ring the year before, and were 4 points from going back to back. Of course if you add any all star caliber player to a team already that good it’s going to become extremely overpowered. I think if you swap KD out with Bradley Beal or Paul George, history remains exactly the same. But one thing worth mentioning is the warriors those 2-3 years with KD are in my opinion the best team of all time. I don’t think any team in NBA history even wins more than 2 games against the 2017 Warriors, and even though they would win titles still, I don’t think the remain the best team ever if you just replace KD with any all star
Agree for the most part but durant was the lebron kryptonite, cause his chase downs and everything dont matter KD offensively too good, put beal or PG3 in place its dtill a boost but the cavs could take that type of team to 6 probably they still probably win the chips but it may actually be possible for the cavs to win that, win durant there was no shot

GSW didn’t need KD. They just need a wing scorer to take pressure of Steph in the Finals, and KD is the best in the business at that. KD was just a mercenary.

If we’re going to pull the whole “basketball is a team sport” we need to measure players for their impact on the team. If that’s the case, Curry > Durant and it’s not debatable.
It's even evident in stats. A UA-cam account named JimmHighroller (or whatever it was) just made a video about it and Curry's impact upon his team's wins when he plays vs doesn't is even higher than Lebron and Jordan. Anyone can check that video if they want.

Why would any of their titles have asterisks? They won them legit. Not their fault if their opponent was hurt or they had a player that put them over the top. If you use that logic there would be whole lotta titles that have asterisks.
@@gregoryevans8179 Yeah I don't like using the term asterisk in this situation but the previous GS titles felt less earned than this current one. It's tough because you can't blame the warriors for their luck, that's out of their control of course. I don't think it should count against Curry and his legacy- but it would have been MORE special if the Warriors earned their title like this years. Something about the Cavs missing their 2nd and 3rd best players the entire series in 2015 deprived that title of it's maximum glory- because the next year those same 2 teams, but with healthy players this time went the Cavs way so it does make you wonder. Then they added KD on top of how close those 2 teams were already in 2016 prior to him joining. KD wins FMVP in both 2017 and 2018. This years title though? There's really no narrative that can deprive the titles maximum glory this year.
Steph and the Warriors aren't the only players/teams that have gotten lucky on their way to a title, and that's something people need to realize when they try to deny the warriors/steph of their due credit. All time great team, all time great player in steph, glad he finally got his FMVP.
Steph and GS were validated before KD even got there as far as I’m concerned. People don’t understand how miraculous Bron and Kyrie were in 2016. Any other team in the East would have gone down in 5 to that Warriors squad at the very most.

Draymond literally told KD that they didn’t need him during that argument on the bench and it was true. I didn’t care that KD left OKC. KD could have gone anywhere else. But he joined the team with the greatest regular season record ever. The same team that eliminated you in the playoffs. That will ALWAYS be weak in my opinion.

The Warriors didn’t need KD this year… but against Bron, oh yeah… they most definitely needed him!!
Anyone that is better than Barnes.
Needed means you perceive that commodity (in this case Durant) as a necessity. Meanwhile he was actually a luxury. That's why they won by 4-1 and 4-0 after they got him. Anyone who understand statistics will recognize that there's so much room for errors when the margin of wins is that wide. Not to forget that Warriors lost to them Cavs in 7 gms instead of 4 or 5 gms. With so much circumstances too (from Bogut and Iggy injuries, to Draymond's game 5 absence, controversial officiating in game 6, and their 3rd scoring option in Barnes missed all those open shots).
From those 2 premises alone (Warriors won with such dominance after Kd & Warriors lost in the tiniest margin pre-Kd), anyone with a fair minds would recognize that they just went overkill with that Kd's move.
Celtics lost this more than warriors won it.They couldn't do the basics when they seem to have some momentum.
Warriors probably didn't need KD but I believe they have little faith in curry against 2 real elite players on one team if the series is longer than it should be while being up.
I believe warriors beat the cavs in 5 in 2016 if bogut and dray are in the lineup at the same time.(though you could make a argument that year before if love and kyrie didn't get hurt the cavs would win in 2015)

Saying KD’s legacy is dead is way too harsh. You don’t need to have the greatest career in history to still have a great legacy. However, it’s obvious that his legacy got knocked down several notches after this.
My honest opinion: KD needed the Warriors more than the Warriors needed KD. The proof is this year’s championship. I don’t think the Warriors would’ve won the 2017 finals without KD just like I don’t think he would’ve won a championship if he stayed at OKC. However, we cannot deny one thing: when in Golden State, KD CARRIED that team. He was simply their best player and it was not even close! But still, I think that the Warriors would eventually win another championships even if KD had never joined them. They just wouldn’t be as dominant
He was the best on clutch for sure but that's only because warriors had curry and he attracts the defense freeing guys like kd and klay and the rest

He won’t
Kobe was 26 when Shaq won in Miami & 30 when he won in 09. KD will be 34 next season. He’ll get one or two more chances. That’s about it.
@@wallyjackson9543 He won't if he's hurt by early mid season and the nets keeps changing teams mid season.
Dude had to play over 40 minutes on his repaired Achilles the last 19 games of the regular season and in the playoffs.
Jenna has been looking good lately👍
Talk about the Celtics and the warriors and Steph legacy
Media talks puts him down when he join gs but when left they saying he shouldn't have left. Like Steve a and all thosenppl who say that are fakes
Durant was given more young talent than anybody in history- Harden, Jeff Green, Ibaka, Westbrook and he couldn’t build that winning culture. He just wants others to do the hard work while he just steps on the court and does his thing. Championships aren’t won on talent alone.
KD, Westbrook and Harden all have feminized personalities that couldn't and will never translate into them being Alpha leaders on any team. KD was deliberately punked on national TV by Draymond because he knew KD's female energy would eventually poison the Warriors culture. And he knew KD would run like a scorned female to another team, which he did. Now Kyrie is about to leave him, because he's too high maintenance, needy and clingy.
Nick x Chris synchronised coffee sip 02:29
Durant left the Warriors 2 seasons ago!!! This is a non topic other than dramatic effect. KD don’t care… this the definition of living rent free in people head!!!!
When you win before him it’s already proven the current team can win so I’m not shocked one bit.
Todays fits all around lookin good
Yes Kd put GS over the top, yes KD led the way for them to win those chips with Steph klay & Dray, Yes he was great in those finals..but at the end of the day, KD JOINED them they didn’t need him, he wasn’t going to win anything if he didn’t go to GS.. & GS was gonna acquire another star anyways if it wasn’t KD
He had other options...I believe KD and Kawhi on the spurs would at least win 1-2 titles.
@@deonterector7424 pop KD could’ve
Gone to the Celtics he choose a front runner team. Then tried to go to to Brooklyn and do it the “hard” way when he should’ve done that in the first place. Smh.
Even if KD win another championship, he still wouldn't be over Steph Curry
gsw winning without kd is nothing new. kd was only needed to get an all time great team over the line against one of the greatest players of all time.
man its absolutely crazy how people will credit Steph for the 2 rings people discredit KD for when KD was without a doubt the best player on the team. Also to then have the conversation like KD has a supporting cast that is comparable to Steph is laughable at best. Steph was guarded the same way KD was guarded ONCE in his entire series against Boston and he didn't hit a single 3. Also yall need to GTFOH with this idea that Steph changed the game and KD didn't like what? Players like Tatum, Brandon Ingram, and Michael Porter Jr. all credit KD for inspiring them.
Lol so now Curry played so well because Boston wasn’t guarding him hard enough, except for that one game in which he struggled? Ridiculous. Yes, the Celtics were showing higher defensively in the high screen and roll, and being more aggressive in general, against Steph in game 5. It seemed to throw him off to a degree (though he still led the team in assists and shot 7-13 from 2-point range). However, he bounced back mightily the next game against those same tactics. Even in game 5, he’d missed a number of open looks and very easily could have had a better night despite Boston’s increased aggression.
You know why guys like Grant Williams, Al Horford, and Jayson Tatum weren’t trying the same stuff they’d used against KD on Steph? Because they couldn’t. It’s hard to body up a guy you can’t stay in front of. Steph was too quick for them whether he had the ball or not. He abused Horford on switches, and he helped render Grant Williams a non-factor. His ballhandling (far superior to KD’s) and range (also better) allowed him to attack those guys consistently from areas of the floor where KD typically wouldn’t go. Steph was just a style of player that they weren’t prepared for, and once Steph saw their approach in game 5 and adapted in game 6, the Celtics were out of answers.
If the roles were reversed, and KD had been the one with the kind of series Steph had against the league’s number one defense (even with Steph’s supporting cast) while Steph struggled, I’m guessing you wouldn’t want to hear all of the excuses you’re attempting to make for KD now. Pretending you didn’t see what you saw won’t change the reality of it, I’m afraid.
its not a deduction on KD's Legacy, Its just KD did not move and cant be compare to other greats who won in a right way of his own, like giannis and steph did recently
GS winning this year confirms that they didn't really need a DURANT... literally any decent, 4th player would've put them over the top of the CAVS. On top of that, KD winning A ring won't do much either. He needs multiple rings, because as of now, he has ZERO meaningful rings.
i think gsw without any additions win 2017, people like to act as if cavs blew them out in 16, but if kyrie still leaves, they dont win in 18. if they did add anynother all star, yeah theyre going back to back, as great as lebron is, and boy is he, that gsw team is something different
@@youraverage90sguys7 yes agreed it wouldve been close and we got robbed of that rematch. KD going to GS ruined the NBA (and Brons GOAT chase) those 2 years . I don't think any team every assembled would've beat GS in 17 or 18...only the Dream Team lol. I know it's been said a million times, but it's really that crazy: KD going to GS was the weakest softest move ANY great player has made in ANY sport...by a wide margin too! KD got to be dumb to think ANYONE, besides a KD stan, would respect that move.
@@Thomas998822 couldnt agree more, for sure dream tean is their only comp
Golden state didn’t need KD to win a title, they needed KD to beat Lebron, and when they don’t have to go through Lebron, they don’t need KD
That’s why they beat bron in 2015. You’re a giant clown 🤡 🤡🤡
I believe they need KD against Kawhi raptors maybe the bucks....The celtics did everything to ruin the monument in the series it's like they couldn't do the basics.
They lost that more than warriors won that.
Golden state beat Lebron before in the finals. And don’t bring up injuries bc golden state had injuries against the raptors so🤷🏽♂️
@@exclusiveman5 yes 2 of cavs players aside from born were out Injured the entire series in 2015 which was the only reason why gsw won
@@exclusiveman5 in 2019 curry, green, klay, were all fully healthy the only reason they lost was because they needed kd simple as that
They never needed KD, having him just made it easy and basically a guarantee
They needed him. Stop capping. Am a Gsw fan. 😂😂. All lebron would do is double team curry and game over. Imagine thinking Harrison Barnes would help 🤡🤡
Without KD warriors would not have won in 17 nor in 18
Kyrie left in 18 so good chance warriors would still win
@@antimike11 Rockets would have beat them and the Thunder would have a really good chance
@@sparte6856 what happened to Rockets in 2019? Did they win lol
@@antimike11 before KD got hurt I think in game 5 all the games were decided by 6 or less points. Isn’t hard to believe Warriors would have loss without KD
@@sparte6856 if LeBron didn't jump from team to team recruiting all stars how many chips you think he'd have?
Curry > KD period.
Bad analogy Wildes: Moss wanted to stay, Belicheck didn’t want the headache he was starting to become.
People say KD is better than Bron, Lbj did what KD couldn't do. Take a shorthanded squad to the NBA Finals 💯
If GS would have not signed KD in 2016, they would've lost again to Cleveland in 2017 and would've lost to Houston in 2018. Don't get it twisted, they did needed KD to join. Is not the same winning against Boston that going against Bron
If Lebron doesn’t go to Miami he never wins a ring
That Randy Moss analogy was such a reach lmao
Also if we're discrediting kds rings then we have to discredit Steph's 2 rings
Golden State needed KD, that’s why they recruited him. The landscape is different today. They didn’t need KD to win this chip
Yo KD, I agree 100 percent
This is a reach. KD is a 2-time champ w/ 2 finals MVP. Top 75 all time, top 20 of all time, regular season MVP net worth 200 million & climbing & probably in a group chat w/ Steph talking twice a week. He’s not tripping, he’s trolling
