    You know its very brave to have a youtube channel about this. But doing a lecture like that AND showing a clip of all the alters. Thats ENORMOUSLY BRAVE. Being vulnerable like that. OMG massive RESPECT

      This comment needs more recognition, Jess is so brave for doing all of this. As a system, all of us look to Jess and her system as role models. They’re all such amazing individuals.

      I feel the same too.. I admire the way Jess and her other alters approach the topic about DID. Most specially how Jess's other alters cooperative willingly. So brave and so informative in the same way. I sooo loved them all. ❤❤❤

      I've recently "stumbled" upon this channel and watch so many of the clips and feel like I've gotten to know everyone one in the system on a personal level. I just had to pop a comment on here and say I truly agree with @PatrickAllenNL. This was so brave of you and I have no idea why but I felt like such a proud "papa". My emotions were all over the place! Just so proud of you!

    I studied neuropsychology at Bangor - it's so strange seeing Wheldon on YT! This is honestly the most informative and honest lecture on DID I've ever come across. The audience participation with the bell was such a fantastic way of explaining DID to those that struggle to understand how hard it can be to balance the wants and needs of the host/alters. It's so fascinating that some of the alters have medical conditions that are specific to them! Thank you for spreading awareness of DID and combating the misinformation that exists

    You know what would be awesome instead of axe murderers as representations of DID in media why not have a superhero with multiple personalities using his alters and their abilities to solve crimes and fight the bad guys and stuff

    This is fantastic. Very well done. The bells was a fantastic way of going about this. I really hope that this helps people to understand, whether they simply be interested parties, friend or family of those with DID, or DID sufferers themselves.

    I was grinning the entire time with the bell demonstration. It reminded me about my altars. Rory is a night owl and loves to be up until two in the morning the earliest. Meanwhile, Sam wants to go to sleep around nine or ten. Especially if we have to do something the next day like go to school or the dentist so I always make sure that we have appointments or classes in the afternoon even though I'd rather want to wake up early and get done early.

    The clip that shows all of the alters speaking at once was completely overwhelming for me. My own thoughts are too much for me sometimes, so that much activity at once would totally drive me crazy! 🤦🏽‍♀️... complete love and respect for anyone who is a multiple. 💕

    I thought I sensed Jaime or Jake in there sometimes, just the way you were talking seemed different in some places, and I thought I heard a bit of them in there. Were any of them co-conscious? I thought Jaime might've been because a lecture seems like his kind of thing, and Jake seems to like talking to people so that's why I thought they might've been there..

      Often happens in lectures for some reason. From my own experience (back when I was a student) I didn't expect jokes in lectures, so when one happened I had a few seconds of thinking "hang on, was that a joke?", and then by the time I decided it was the moment had gone.
      Also, people in lecture halls don't seem to want to be the only one laughing, so everyone stays quiet. I often used to let out a small chuckle because I felt bad for the person giving the lecture who was getting no feedback from their jokes, and I wanted to show that they were appreciated!

    Would've loved to see the Q&A also, but that's just me being super interested (possibly to the point of obsession).
    This was soooo well done! I'm so happy that awareness about D.I.D. is being spread like this, since it is criminally misunderstood...

    i need to go to a doctor.
    I thought maybe i had DID, but i had an inner world so i thought maybe i was something new.
    Now i can go to a doctors and see or at the very least test for it, since what i have seems similar to DID.
    If only the internet told people that it's possible to have an inner world, or I wouldn't have suffered for so long, and wasted my time doing research.
    Thank you.
    Im 15 and have been like this since 4 years old.
    I thought they were ghosts that possessed me.
    Now i now it isn't.

      Imm commenting as im watching this. Man, if the internet had more info ive wouldve known sooner. Im looking at the trigger part. And i was like " Oh man!"
      See i have these things called "switch keys" that can possibly trigger a switch. Or once switched, they put on or wear their "switch key" so my friend Alexis can identify who it is.
      Today he met Myanmar and Mienmar. Sisters. They live in the blue house near the church with Pastor Nick.

      @@vanessapayero759 AGREED!! If people would be more aware of the validity and reality of Inner Worlds, they would get to know themselves in a much deeper level!
      The "host" (Sage) of our system is kind of taking a bit of a forced trip into our Inner World, but will be back soon enough, so I think he'll like to be presented to someone else that has the same... "condition". If you are still there and ever wanna chat about it, we are open to share our own experiences and be friends! -Peter

      +theusedbert24 I know your issue is old, but I wanted to let you know.. there is a yuku forum called "Coping with Dissociative Identity Disorder" that I went to for several years to help with my own issues. My local area doesn't have good support/therapists/help so they answered my questions and I've grown a lot in friendships and info. Nobody there is a therapist, but most have DID themselves and can tell you what worked for them, and you can explain your situation! :) Best of luck!

    Jess I was wondering if you'd be making new videos or uploading your old ones? I ask because I've now been diagnosed with DID and when myself or one of my alters Lyndee is out we've been trying to find as much info as we can and your videos are great!! I don't know why but I feel Idk safe watching your videos and from what I can tell my alters really enjoy them as well. As of now I have 4.. Carlee (2) Sophie (5) Lyndee (16) and Miranda (24) though I have a feeling one more is in there but I don't really have much contact with it only flashes of thoughts and a voice I don't recognize. I've been showing your few videos to my family to help them understand and to help my mother understand that my having this along with a few other things though Miranda has OCD.. I myself have depression, ptsd and bipolar along with DID. I hope that you read this and know that your few videos are helping me and my family so very much and when I'm out and feeling overwhelmed I watch your video of your life that you and your fiance made and he helps to calm me down. The way you refer to us like a car is 100% how it is though my older alters like to shove me to the very back most of the time. I've searched for others like me on UA-cam and your the only one of them that I've found that I can 100% relate to who makes videos. So here I am on my knees begging for you to please make more videos and or post your old videos. Oh and please tell the boys I send my love from the US. I send my love to you as well.

    Not only your youth, awareness, dealing and learning each and showing the recovery end of this extreme illness. I cannot find anything on the internet to prove to us dealing up until awareness that the next journey can be fought to get to learning them to be able to cohabit in a system and i like that way of expressing it to people without DID as Jess most people will have no chance of ever understanding honey x

You are moving mountains regarding awareness for your disorder. Now, I am 100% open to meeting someone with DID. I would be soooo interested in meeting ppl with DID, knowing that there are no limitations or order in which it manifests and develops; trully shows how unique each one is. You are a plate of Great steak, cool beans, and a side of awesome sauce. Your videos have modified my view on many subjects regarding mental disease/disorder. I have an interesting situation where I have to have a certain "alter" take their meds or it doesn't work at all. For instance me, Kitty, and Snap are depressed and take lexapro. But if someone other than us all co con together doesn't take the lexapro that morning then it won't help us. Do any of you others out there with DID have this issue too? Also, Tyrant can drink a bottle of wine and be just fine but if someone switches with her while the alcohol is still heavy in the body, the new one that switched out will vomit or get drunk.

      Maybe you should stop treating your "alters" as real people and focus more on what you are doing.
      If you stop legitimizing and indulging fictional persons, they'll go away.
      Because, you won't need them to explain why are being inconsistent with your medication and drinking to intoxication.

      I hear both rudeness and trolling run rampant on youtube pages. Thank you for the demonstration!

    • @Waltham1892

      theclanplus1 I was being neither rude nor was I trolling anyone.
      Alters are not real people. They are self-delusions; at best.
      Investing them with preferences, predilections and even their own levels of tolerance is to reinforce that delusion.
      Its also useful to point out that when we invest these fictions with our negative behaviors (medication resistance and substance abuse) it makes it that much harder to address these problems.
      Because, from the get-go, the we are saying these problems aren't ours but "someone else's."
      You are real. Your problems are real. "Alters" aren't real.
      Focus on the real.

      Waltham1892 Um. No? Sure they're not real in the physical way but by god are alters real and different. With DID, starting at childhood consciousness is sectioned off to deal with trauma, and from that point the sections literally don't share memories? Leading them to each have individual experiences that shape their reaction to life around them. They're not fictional. They're a child's coping mechanism before the child knows how to cope with severe trauma. And trust me, you can ignore and hate and disbelieve your alters, but they aren't going anywhere. MRIs have literally proven that you brain functions differently when an alter is present.

    • @madelinep5291
      @madelinep5291 7 років тому +5

      theclanplus1 I don't have that problem but I know a few systems that do! Try writing notes to your alters if you have DID and the related amnesia explaining why it's important to take the meds. Best of luck to you :)

    So I knew that I had watched this some time ago but I couldn’t remember most of it and I decided to re watch it. I know one of my alters Eve was watching with me last time and she must of taken full control around the 50 minute mark as just now while watching without her that Paula segment was; I don’t want to say triggering, but it was triggering,especially hearing Paula called with an Aussie accent. As a system we decided to change our name legally, not only because of past trauma but also because none of us felt like Paula. It’s so hard to put into words the feeling of wondering if Paula was the original host or myself, only eve really has any memories of the bodies life as Paula.
    I don’t know if I’m wording this right so I should stop ranting.
    Just know that we all think what you are doing is amazing jess. (And co.)

    i just found your channel last night and am really enjoying watching these videos and getting some insight into the world of DID. i do have a question, though- i know that it's been demonstrated in this video and in another on this channel that it's possible to have a much "younger" alter, like ollie. is it possible for someone with DID (particularly, a young person) to have an "older" alter? for example, the child is 6 years old and had only basic knowledge of reading skills, but an alter who can read and comprehend at a higher level than the host. has this been documented, or is it possible?

    • @camillew8061
      @camillew8061 8 років тому +1

      I think it is possible! I am relatively very young and have alters that are much older than me, 90% of the time if I don't understand something I go to them.

    • @theclanplus1
      @theclanplus1 8 років тому +1

      +Kat Allen I know your post is old but I wanted to tell you yes. It's possible to have all age groups inside. I even have animals in my system that have adapted for basic needs, since my abuse was primal (food, shelter, etc.). It all depends on the needs when the abuse happened.

    • @KatieDEMON
      @KatieDEMON 8 років тому +1

      +theclanplus1 well, i suppose what i was getting at with this question is this- is it possible to have an alter that is somehow older/more knowledgeable than yourself? possibly one who had retained previously learned things you've forgotten, therefore "more intelligent" than the host? i'm unsure if my question is clear enough to be answered, but i'm really very curious about it.

    • @theclanplus1
      @theclanplus1 8 років тому

      Kat Allen On a forum I used to go to I've had conversations with others with DID about it, and yes they're handle (like host, protector, etc) is "wise ones". Their job is to retain information for the system. Not every system has them, and even then sometimes they can be older alters or in the case of one person I talked to on there often.. his was spiritual like beings, not human OR animal. From my experience it's fairly common. It often comes from insiders that are always co conscious and have excellent memory.. but then there's also another class that seems to form in victims from occult abuse where their knowledge can go into the spiritual also, does that make sense?

    • @KatieDEMON

    I have all of these symptoms except the one where i wake up & have no idea how i got there and also i dont get headaches. My therapist has only mentioned dissociation and depersonalization, he did tell me that the other parts of me were created to take on my trauma so I think he knows that I have it but doesnt want to tell me the diagnosis until he knows for sure.

      this is late, but I thought if the body had autism, all the alters have autism? that's what i heard, but i honestly thought it sounded a bit... not true. I mean, if the brain is autistic, it's autistic, but surely some alters can dissociate enough from that to appear allistic? especially if, say, they're bullied for being autistic. i imagine it's completely possible a part could split off that either displays no autistic traits, or displays all autistic traits, as it split off from the host (or whoever is the one being bullied for being autistic).

    • @otakuofmine
      @otakuofmine 4 роки тому

      @@abbiepancakeeater52 alters can have own mental and physical capabilities. That's like the big thing proving their existence. Heard of ones that don't need glasses for example.
      In my friends, only one is autistic and as autist myself it is true. The others don't have it.
      They all have all different sexualities and kinks etc.
