    This is close to how they used to build bridges using old flat bed rail road cars. You could even set them up to be backfilled with concrete.

    • @aserta
      @aserta 7 місяців тому +6

      Not only flatbeds, but also grain carts. I've seen a couple of roads where a gap had been stabilized utilizing grain carts filled with concrete, where the concrete (inside the bucket) encapsulated concrete telephone poles as triangulation). The cart would eventually rot away, but the tripod created by the big lump of concrete and the two telephone poles would remain in place.
      Never saw it myself, but i know of a road in the mountain side where a previous owner in the 80's drove a truck (10 wheeler overcab + shipping container) made holes in the roof of the truck and container and poured concrete. You can't see it today, it's under the road, but i talked with the son and he told me the wild story.
      Whatever works, works.

      @@aserta (Correct you are my friend!)
       We still use RAIL-ROAD-CAR-BED’S, Here in Western-Wyoming, and they do the same thing and Western Montana . Because in both places is where the continental divide, Rocky Mountains run all the way up to Canada.
      And they are absolutely perfect for crossing fast-moving strains and you need something that will last a few generations and handle any amount of weight you want to go across. Including logging trucks. We have three different places on my family’s ranch.
      Anyway, I knew there were a few videos about this on UA-cam so I went over on the UA-cam and Web and got this one for you and other people to look at. This guy in the video did just about the same thing we did when we installed ours. We did it ourselves because we have more than enough equipment to do it all with…
      And we did 3 different / separate crossings. The video you’re going to see, he did one like we did. A pretty wide drive crossing, a wide creek for our-farming &, logging equipment. He did what we did. Put 2, 90 foot long ones side, By-side.
      And that is the link of all railroad cars. 90 feet long. Regardless of the car. Over to the right, you will see another video of a fella that installed a railroad car bid going across a creek. And from the looks of the picture, it looks like it’s pretty high up!!
      The name of the video is, “Bridge Made From Flatbed Rail Cars”.

      As another commentor stated, it probably doesn't matter if the owner comes around or not. If the ROW, or road easement Andrew holds on her land gives him the right to build, and maintain a road, he can do just that (of course within the described limits of the ROW or easement). "Maintain" typically includes installing, maintaining drainage features such as ditches, culverts, water bars, erosion protection, etc.

    Weeeee. I woke up hungry. I made myself two eggs, 4 slices of bacon and two pieces of english toasting bread. I watched this video while I ate. What fun. It's always something different and we enjoy watching. Thanks Andrew!
    That was a nice little stream going on there. We call that a "crick" aka creek. That crick is exactly what we had at a farm when I was a kid. We would carry buckets of water about 150 feet to the garden when it needed watering. That was a damn chore in itself. Then one day in a wooden shed we found a bunch of garden hoses and put them together. We used bricks to hold one end down right in the crick. The water flowed downhill to the garden. We only had about 20 feet to play with at the garden so I just let it lay and the garden "flooded"., then we'd move the hose to the other side and let it run.
    My grandfather saw what was going on and laughed. He said "It's not coming out very fast but you really got an idea there". That made me so proud lol. God I miss those days.

    R.I.P. that culvert ever bearing any sort of load ever again! Once those CMP pipes crush like that they turn into tin cans. I’m shocked that culvert was ever installed with so little, if any cover, over the top of it. The data sheets on these culverts and their design guidelines typically specify a minimum cover thickness of material over the top to meet safety margins.

    It is your right-of-way Andrew, knock down the trees in your (right of) way, for the entire defined width of your right-of-way. I routinely cut trees on my neighbour's land that are in my right-of-way. Sometimes they yell, but I remind them, the right-of-way existed when they bought their property, the time to complain about it was before it was registered with the County. Excellent video!

      Not gonna happen. when I saw Andrews first Video when he bought the mountain, I thought is was strange and wondered why every 2nd tree had yellow 'My Property' signs.
      Every tree is well documented and Andrew cannot just do as he wishes to other peoples land. Is it the case in the US and the state of NY that he could lose his access rights if he wantonly destroys the landowners property?
      The would be good for the NY courts and mainstream News channels, Millionaire landowner destroys a little old destitute ladies property
      just because he has a UA-cam Channel.

      In his case this is needed. I do know of a place that someone made claimes of a right away. The owners proceeded to remove the entire alley and gate and fence it off properly. When the people showed up they called the Sheriff to which the Sheriff then told them to kick rocks. Right aways exist if there is not access to a property. The people took advantage of the people who owned the land next to their by driving through the land to get to theirs. At one time the land belonged to that land. So as habit they kept doing it that way. Kicker is they have 2 public roads to which they can access that 1/4 section of land. This means that the areas is 1/2 mile by 1/2 mile big. That is 2640 feet per side. Thus you see the reason why the Sheriff told them to kick rocks.
      I know of several other examples of this exact thing. So unless your land is 100% land locked and your right away is the only access then you can do as you please with it. Really if he wants to he can have a survey done on the right away and bull doze it clear. Right aways are defined by x amount of feet. For all we know it could be 50 feet.

    • @CerebralAilment
      @CerebralAilment 7 місяців тому +4

      @@kameljoe21 I helped do some research on this - he is completely in the clear to make the road accessible and maintained per his deed. There's actually a lot of history in the area which is kinda cool. Many of these lots where divided up in the late 1700s early 1800s. I don't know her reasoning but I believe she just doesn't want the road or area to be developed at all. But that ROW / Road has existed long before she was around. Andrew retained a good lawyer who's very familiar with ROW law and he's been given the clear to exercise his rights on the matter - which she is currently trying to impede. I think he's trying to give the lady time to come around. People get nasty when property stuff is involved. Andrew was planning to do the work at his own expense, but I think if she ends up being too big of a pain and keep pushing legal fees as a way to stifle progress she might get stuck with a nice bill for his legal defense and much much more.

    • @kameljoe21
      @kameljoe21 7 місяців тому +1

      @@CerebralAilment Yes, from what I understand his land is locked in with no other access point and his ROW is likely deeded into the proprety in which it crosses. I am not sure if there is other land in which other people might need access to said road. Yet either way most of these right ways have some sort of survey markers or some thing along with that. One could spend the money and repair the road and one could also have it surveyed to which could the become a permanent road ways too. Many ROW are now existing roads. Some might not know that. Yet a lady who is being a dick just might find herself on the back end of a video.
