The shape and setup of the gray Toyota shows just how good those trucks were. That shape will take you more places including malls than any other shape that's existed in offroading. It's not the best at anything, near the top at a few things, but it's always good and always carries the most shit on the jalopy back home. That jalopy is an old Toy pickup so almost all of it always makes it back home.
Build, break, repeat! Love the content keeps inspiring me to wrench on my low budget 2nd gen 4Runner off road/camping rig. I’ve been working on it for the past 3 months little but little each day finally got the last few parts I need to get it on the road! Need to get it aligned and then off to its first trail run! Super excited!
Oil cooler on return line for steering. I have been thinking about theowing a xj or something radiator flat under the pasanger side floor in front of the fuel tank.
Awesome video! New to the channel. I have a 97 Tacoma i'm working on the 1UZ swap. At 4:33 there is a red Tacoma do you happen to know what set up he is running? Primarily interested in Headlight, bumper and fender.
That’s my 01. Fenders and box sides are ADV fiberglass, headlights are a bit of a mad man creation. 95.5-97 whale mouth grille, with headlight buckets from a 1981 Toyota pickup. The headlights are Trucklite heated LED’s. Not the prettiest, but it works. The bumper is, again, my own creation. I had an ARB before, but wanted something wide enough to protect my fenders. It’s got an IG page, @project_pos_taco. I’ve got the build detailed there. Cheers!
needs a power steering cooler like drift car, its an aluminum block so prolly more susceptible to rapid changes when the rad doesnt have a ton of flow. May need to add some hood vents to let the hot air rise out of the bay easier. Detail walkaround of the red double cab looks freakin awesome
I'm running a 1uz behind my hilux with R150 box.......but mines a lot more built..... exo cage, custom tray, rear cut down to take a rear winch.......best mod is rear mounted radiator with Craig Davies electric water pump
At one Point I put a Straight 6 258 1973 motor in My Yota.. Ran SMOOTH, better torque than 4 cylinder... Was fun, till winter cracked the side of Block cuz there was a little water left in there that didnt drain.. Danggit! But i built a stroker 4.0 threw the 258 crank in a 96 Jeep block... Havent installed motor though, thinkin bout v8... What fun this all is! Great vid Again! Another A+
Just a piece of friendly advice from another 1uz swap guy. Carry an extra ECM with you at all times. They are 20+ years old and prone to failure from bad capacitors. When that happens you are dead in the water.
Love the lunch box launch. Sorry bout the break. But glad to see er going! You make me want to join the light side. Ugh jeep life. I'm so thankful that I was lead to you from a jeeper.... shout out to the TJ. You fellas do it proper. My style at least. V8 life. This video makes my camero buddy upset (LS THE WORLD, type) I love Toyota axel style on that note.
You probably need heat extractors, either on the hood or the fenders. The power steering heat could be from the ambient temps inside the engine bay or maybe the 1uz pump is making too much pressure for the 89 box, might need a different pulley on it. Just my thoughts, glad to see the truck out and wheeling🤘
Oil Coolers for Engine and Power steering! Should help out with both overheat issues, Glad to see this completed for the next stages of crap! erm, videos... ,
First time in years since install I've had issues with my locker. And I'm blaming the fire. My front axle was definitely on fire and bits of my actuator was melted haha.
Invest in a set of RCV’s my friend. You’ll never have issues again
I’m still building my LS swapped 84 4Runner. I’ve upgraded the front to Longs 30 splines. Hopefully they hold up
Broke a birf in the mud, Toyota strength at its finest. The v8 sounds good.

Love that you’re finally back out on the trail with your truck! Keep the videos coming!
Congrats on having her out on the trails again! All things considering you had it out there QUICK!
The charm about older vehicles is that part of fixing them involves slamming parts against or with objects.

Nice! Was good to be out!
Very cool build! Next time bring something to catch all that oil instead of leaving it out there.
Offroading is all about pushing boundaries, and pickup trucks do it with style!

Congratulations I’m glad to see the 89 in action as well as the 2RZ on the trails! Keep up the good work
Yeah, I have a tundra with the 2uz, I went through like 4 ps pumps. Ps line coolers are a must
Dude. Hell yeah. Maybe time for dirty 30s with the v8 power?

Yup a must have on those v8 ps pumps

Nice to see local builders work.. Keep doing the EK proud..
This channel is so underrated
Hi who did your swap ? Looking on doing the same thing to my 95 taco
I did.
The v8 swap is cool and everything, but the real magic is...how did you get your wipers to move that fast?
Quite the Cranbrook waterfall mullet going on there , lol !
Awesome content man!!!
Put the stock power steering pump back in if possible my 88' never ovrheats.
Did you do any waterproofing of the 1uz?
Do you have a link on the front bumper?
It's a Fractal Bumper, not sure if he has a website yet! But if you look up "fractalfabs" on Instagram you can buy from him there.
@@DirtGarage hi thanks for the reply, it looks so good, I'll be sure to look it up
Glad to see trail action again!
I really don't miss those days. Trailside repairs are the worst IMO. Nowadays I have BCAA and a Visa :D

Likening the mullet
Good stuff! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the rebuild of this thing. Should I do a 4.7 swap in my 95 4runner?
Nice hair brother
Love to see it rollin out there! Looking to 2uz swap my 4runner and a lot of inspiration came from your videos!
congrats! your blood sweat and tears have paid off. way to stick with it and not give up.
That truck and your hair make a RAD pair. Keep it growin’! Awesome videos, dude! 😎

Rcv shafts with birfs you won’t go wrong
time for a dana 44 up front.
Worn axle splines will break Co's. Check they don't have sharp edges

Sweet video…glad I went chromoly shafts and an air locker for my SAS…I’ve learned enough with my Tacoma that skinny pedal and lockers breaks axles 😂
