- Last week I was shooting at Triple C Range and using my Ruger Hawkeye Long Range Target 6.5 Creedmoor with a Primary Arms 3-18 FFP with the ACSS APOLLO 6.5 CM Reticle.
The targets were:
300 Yards
400 Yards
500 Yards
600 Yards
700 Yards
800 Yards
900 Yards
1,000 Yards
I tried to shoot 8 targets with 8 bullets. Spoiler alert - I failed. It was fun trying though.
Good shooting! to read your wind better go a 1/4 turn out of focus and start to see the mirage, look at 300-600-900 and let your brain create the firing solution, after a while you ll get better at it, also you have a touch of spin drift to the right so take that into consideration -Dimitri
Great shooting, I'm convinced, that's my next gun...thank you for a great no muss/fuss demo.....
Lol, I've had my Ruger Hawkeye 6.5 Creedmoor 26" barrel with Vortex 6×24×50 Diamondback scope and 143gr Hornady ELX ammo for 2yrs now and have only shot 12rds furthest was 100yds.
Everyone is a critic. Try squaring your body to the body, instead of blading your left shoulder towards the target. This helps in recoil control to aid in spotting hits/misses, and reduce parallax discrepancy which aids in reduced misses.
Thanks for the advice! I'll try that next time I'm out.
Ruger helped make the 6.5 cm famous, but everyone making videos uses the American based rifles. I'm glad to see the hawkeye. They need to promote the Hawkeye more.
Good shooting!
Thanks man... I watched your review. Keep up the good work.
@TexasWylie1 I'm debating between this and the Precision Rifle. Curious to know why you chose this over the the other. (Unless you have both). Any input is appreciated. Thank you.
I was originally going to buy the Ruger Precision in 6.5 CM. My buddy bought the RPR and I was convinced that one was the one for me too. However, I found the Hawkeye at my local gun store. and I knew that one was the one for me.
1. I believe the stock of the Hawkeye is more comfortable.
2. I like the weight of the Hawkeye and it has a 2" longer barrel. For long distance shooting it'll give you a bit more velocity.
The RPR is definitely more modular and easier to customize. For the type of shooting I was going to do with it, I knew I wouldn't be making many changes to it. They are both really accurate. So, no mater which you choose, you'll be happy.
TexasWylie1 hey thanks a lot for the reply. Yeah the modularity for the RPR is what was really drawing me aside from it's top notch performance. I would have definitely changed the stock and grip out but other than that it seemed like a champ. Modularity is great, but I've got an AR in 6.5 grendel that is heavily fitted for precision already, so the modularity has kind of been done for me already. I think the Hawkeye in 6.5 creedmoor will compliment my grendel nicely and more than adequately. Thanks!!
Get behind the rifle🤠
What's your ring height?
Answers my question lt does single feed🤠
Good gun. I have it in 300 win mag... too much gun for 900 bucks
I agree! I wouldn't mind having the one in 308. I'm not sure they're $900 anymore. Prices have gone a bit wacky lately.
