God Bless Wyatt! Can’t help smiling every time I see him! We did our East Coast road trip from Toronto in August 2022 visiting many of the spots you hit. St. John’s is my wife’s hometown and her first time back in 30 years. If you’re ever back in St. John’s, there’s a great hike from the top of Signal Hill to The Battery with great views of the harbour. Lots of blueberries on the way. Safe Travels!
Well after watching your Halifax video we realized we missed the St. Johns visit so we had to back track 👣 lol. A good friend of my two sons ran the Quiddy Viddy fish truck (that's how its pronounced so you got it perfect lol( anyway last spring while we were in town we were treated to an order of that delicious fish and chips. Well last one for tonight but I'm sure we'll be checking more in the coming days.
Another great one you two! So much fish & chips! lol We missed Quidi Vidi our first time there, but we'll be back :) Great destinations for your first new van trip 😊
Great video guys. Too much to cram it all in with a short trip, but you did hit some of the good ones. I'm surprised no one corrected you on the pronunciation of Quidi Vidi - it sounds like "Kiddy Viddy" and it's a great spot.
Love it! Glad you enjoyed St. John's, my wife and I were there that same week and flew out Sunday afternoon, managed to snap a picture of the same Cruise ship from the airplane. So happy the weather worked out for you, we were there for 3 weeks in June and it was cold and foggy every day! So many other things I could recommend for the surrounding area.... Petty Harbour, Bay Bulls, Ferryland to name a few! Hope you get to visit the Bonavista area and Gros Morne National Park! Happy travels!!
Sorry to hear about the weather in June, is it typically gloomy then? We honestly got so lucky with the weather! I feel like we need 3 full summers in Newfoundland to see everything we want to see! There’s so much to do, we gotta come back
My grandson lives in Newfoundland. A looong way from Minnesota. You guys are just a delightful couple with a very handsome little guy. I hope to reach the sunrise someday, and the Quidi Vidi restaurant to try some fish. I miss the fish my late hubby would catch. Thank you for your channel. Keep filming. You do a good job!
Very nice video. You guys are soooo friendly! And your filming really gives a sense of the real thing. Really helps planning our coming trip of summer 2024. So glad you enjoyed Canada!
Well, I spent 2 years in Argentia, 63' - 64' , didn't like living in the barracks so I rented a room out in town with a fisherman family. I went totally native. Loved your video's, brought back a lot of memories. You got my attention when you mentioned Dot;s in OC. my wife worked at the Chatter Box and the pancake house before she met me. I went out along the South Coast on the CNN ferries/ mailboats on my 3 days. Met a lot of good people! Still listen to a lot of Newfie music and been Screeched In . I belong to a drum circle here in Lewes and I interduce them to the Newfoundland Ugly Stick! Cap'n Rick, Port of Lewes, Delaware
What's up my name is Nathan rose and I'm glad that you visited here last year I been living in st John's since I was born Im glad you came here for a visit last year and I'm glad you guys enjoyed the place😃
Newf here that loves your channel. Think about the importance of our lovely island. And, signal hill...in context, wireless the birth of the internet..... BTW what a lovely baby and so happy for your both. Safe and happy travels.
It's all relative. If you've spent time in places like Toronto or New York, St. John's definitely has much more of a welcoming, small-town feel. It's a terrific little city.
@@MrJayehawk Nah its not relative. It's literally a capital of a province. Couldn't be further from a town. Was annoying asf for me too. Blows me away how little most people know.
@@CommoditySC It most definitely is relative lol, St. Johns can be the capial city all it wants, doesn't change the fact it feels like a small town to them compared to the massive cities they're in all the time.
@@dilemma958 Yea because a city with the head branches of every big business in the province is small. With giant ships in the harbour. Who cares where you've been. Know where you're at. Whats the point of traveling if your macro knowledge is zero by the end. Imagine finishing school but you cant do basic math. That's what this is, but I guess that has gone right over your head too. Like I said the stupidity of most people is annoying.
Visited here in August 23 to stay with family. Some beautiful scenery around & the people there are really friendly. It's rather hilly there so be prepared! Long long journey from the UK though with there being no direct flights to Newfoundland. We had to fly way past were we needed to be. All the way to Toronto to catch a connecting flight all the way back to Newfoundland 😞 not fun.
I live in St. John's and it was so nice to watch your video! I highly recommend farmers markets for the best donuts, coffee, and other goodies if you are ever planning to come back
Duke of Duckworth was the second best Fish & Chips I had on Newfoundland this summer, the best were at Ragged Rocks Gastropub in Bonavista. Both were VERY good. My top worldwide remains Red Fish Blue Fish in Victoria, British Columbia. Oh, and when I visited that lookout in late June, completely socked in, so was nice to see what I missed.
NFL has a lot of funny names like that. Dildo town, in conception bay for example. Got to love Newfoundlander. They can just say anything and get away with it.
I live and wS born in St. John’s Newfoundland. You both are adorable. I love how you pronounce Quidi Vidi. I never heard anyone pronounce it this way! Quida is pronounced kiddie :)...I know the spelling is weird!
Try the fish and chips from Keith's Diner in the Goulds if you are ever in NL again. Also don't forget to try the Jalapeno & Honey fried chicken sandwich from Johnny and Maes.
I would like to point out, that Signal Hill was not named because it was the place of the first communication, it had that name before. It just happened to have this name.
Raymond's needs to make a comeback, it was a great place! Do NOT confuse the Fish Exchange with Raymond's, the fish exchange is a tourist trap, poor quality at high prices!!!!!
Great video, but one correction: Cape of Punta Mariato in Panama is the southernmost point in mainland North America. The cape makes up the southwestern tip of the Azuero Peninsula. Also St John’s is not a little town LOL. Population from 2021 census - City 110,525 - Urban 178,427 - Metro 205,955 Tepoztlán, Morelos, Mexico: 1500 BCE. Tepoztlán is the oldest city in North America, which was founded around 1500 BCE.
@@MathersOnTheMap Nah you guys are killing it. Discovered you when planning our Baja trip. Loved your Irish series, as an Irish man. Been hooked on your second van build and house reno series.
Quidi Vidi was once a unique little village…its charm however was destroyed when officials (bribes involved?)… allowed ugly condos built by the brewery… didn’t fit architecturally. Was so sad to see..never went back after that…
This video makes the city look really good, but I live in Saskatoon and there are videos that can make this city look good too lol, and it simply is NOT! I just wonder if anyone can tell me HONESTLY if St John's is actually nice and properly funded because I'm seriously considering a move out East for cheaper living and to forever get away from Saskatoon and Saskatchewan. I just don't want to end up in another ghetto, and I would really appreciate anyone's thoughts and advice about St Johns!!! :)
Wow ,you have to be so petty, they clearly are enjoying their time here but you have to correct them on how to pronounce names ,Newfoundland not Newfinland.
Don’t be so rude. If you come from big cities like New York, Toronto, etc. , you could easily call St. John’s a town. There’s a reason why people outside St.John’s often say “we are going to town” when they are going to St. John’s. They don’t say “we are going to St. John’s”.
If you could learn to pronounce the place you’re visiting, that would be great. It’s pronounced new-fin-LAND. Not new fin lind. So many Americans make videos and don’t bother to learn the name.
Hey Alice, thanks for the comment! We try our best and if you watch our other videos in Newfoundland you'll see that we pronounce it properly. To generalize and say we didn't bother to learn the name because of mispronunciations in the video isn't fair.
So happy you guys are enjoying my home of Newfoundland.
