It makes me sad when people say they hate these first three episodes. They’re genius!! These episodes are psychological horrors disguised as sitcoms. Can’t wait to see the rest of your reactions

Every Friday in my house was so loud when “please standby” came on. 😂 screams of “NOOOOOO!!!” Haha it just meant it was that good because we all wanted more.

I think confusion is the point, this show does such a good job with being unexpected and campy, it's different from the movies cuz you really can't tell this kind of story in a movie... it's marvelously unique

The first half of the show was unexpected and amazing.
To be fair it’s not even that confusing because we KNOW something is obviously not right. So it makes it more intriguing to work out what’s happened and why
Yeah, I got extremely creeped out when the boss started to choke, holy fucking hell it was a tonal shift.

The show switched to a sitcom filming style to filming it more like a horror movie for that scene. Even if you don't consciously notice that, your subconscious reacts to it. It was very well done.
Fun Fact: Episode 1 was actually performed in front of a live audience. The setting and audience seating can be seen in one of the episodes.

WandaVision is one of the best MCU production. It took so much risks and pushed the boudaries of the MCU:
- it's the first show instead of being a movie
- it plays with aspect ratio, editing and production design to provide meta storytelling
- it isn't a typical action superhero movie
With things like this, I disagree when people say Marvel don't take any risks

There’s millions of hidden details in this show. All I’ll say is each commercial is a reference to Wanda’s life
They did tons of research so camera angles and everything were just like the old shows these were inspired from.

"Please Stand By" at the end of each week's episode made so many of us cry & feel more confused every delightful moment! WandaVision is a ride and a half. I admit I let out an evil laugh at seeing that you'd logically divided your watch by doing the first 3 eps only this week. The entire series is a wild trip. After you watch it you should definitely watch the Assembled/Making Of because the show is an amazing love letter to classic TV series (i.e. Dick Van Dyke Show, Bewitched, The Brady Bunch, etc.) and just incredibly well done. The detail work they put in will blow your mind! (I miss Chris standee. Did you mess it up w whipping cream?)

Seb, You called it right away. This entire series is a PSYCHOLOGICAL METAPHOR. Once you get through the finale (and survive), I'll post a meme I found that summarizes all the plot points for each part of this metaphor. ENJOY!
FWIW, the show's primary influences in these three episodes are:
Episode 1 (1950s) -- The Dick Van Dyke Show with passing nods to Leave It To Beaver, Ozzie & Harriet
Episode 2 (1960s) -- Bewitched with nods to I Dream of Jeannie and several more
Episode 3 (1970s) -- The Partridge Family but with nods to The Brady Bunch and lots of others
By "primary influences," I'm mainly referring to the show from which they're mostly taking their set design and opening title sequence.

Hey Seb, the advertisements have relevance to the story. They all show something from Wanda’s past, pretty sure the toaster had the beeping of the stark bomb that killed her parents.

Imagine waiting a week between episodes 2 and 3 (or literally any following week 3 lol). Us Wandavision fans were really on one for like two months lmfao
We were TOTALLY confused. Especially the first two we were like, “what the actual hell is going on????” But then at the end of Espinosa three you are like “oo…. I WANNA KNOW MORE, I WANNA KNOW MORE!!!”

Yup, the first three episodes are intentionally meant to be a mystery - a confusing, surreal, mind-melting mystery that we're trying to navigate our way through. :)

I was also confused until the moment at the end of episode 3. But the whole thing is so well written and everything makes sense after watching the show. Plus it's unusual and it was really fun watching and waiting for all the different episode credits, when traveling in the tv history :D

Regarding your future MCU reaction schedule, my suggestion is to react to Black Widow after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
That movie aired in between Loki episodes, but you can watch it either before or after. I suggest before because it lets you return to movies sooner and get into an alternating pattern between MCU shows and movies after that, instead of watching 3 shows in a row.
I recently saw your Age of Ultron and Civil War reactions, and I said it there and I’ll say it here: those movies hit DIFFERENT after seeing WandaVision and FATWS.
During the watch advertisement, the watch being called a Strucker was an Easter egg. Baron von Strucker was the guy running the Hydra base that Wanda and Pietro got their powers from, as seen in the opening of Age of Ultron.
3:11 she was in How to lose a guy in 10 days, the Holiday, and the last Mimsy.
Those are the ones that immediately came to mind.
So glad you are watching this. Every episode is a reference to another tv show. And almost everything on set represents something in Wanda's history. In comics wanda is daughter of magneto, that's why she is so so so powerful. There are hints to tje past and mostly to the future. Also it seems that this show, Loki and Spiderman are synchronize you will find out that later.

Things to keep in mind about the commercials
ToastMaker: when he presses the button it sounds like the Iron Man repulser sound, the beeping sounds very bomb like and it’s made by Stark Industries.
Strücker: is the name of the guy with the monocle in Age of Ultron who was the Hydra agent that gave Wanda and Pietro their powers.
Hydra Soak: apparently that’s a reference to Agents of Shield but the main take away is the obvious Hydra reference

These first few episodes were very confusing for everyone and there were so many theories flying around. The rest of the episodes explain a lot and they’re so good. Can’t wait to see your reaction to certain ones 👀

Don’t worry Seb, we were pretty confused too and pretty frustrated when the episodes ended and had to wait a week.

WHOO!!! PHASE 4 BABY!! I am so happy!! WandaVision is my favourite Marvel series for 2021...the utter confusion I felt week after week was great. The intros just flooded me with nostalgia and the story was so eerie and mysterious and the absolute bop of a song from episode 7 that I am still singing to this day. (No spoilers!!!! You guys know what I mean lol) Love your reaction as always and your cosplay looks great man and your intros are always so hilarious.
Oh and the ads...OMG...the ads. Should I explain the wandavision ads or is that too spoilery?
When it comes to watching a series, you need to have somebody read and edit the comments before you see them. Certain people get off on revealing spoilers and you don't want that. Trust me.
The actors who play the four principals; Vison, Wanda, Agnes and Geraldine/Monica are so good. They all should have been at least nominated for something
I love all the sitcom references, especially when Wanda gets pregnant and tries to hide it by holding things in front of her baby bump or wearing roomy clothes. That's often how a lot of sitcoms would hide it when the female lead got preggers in real life.
You picked up on a lot and Im excited to see what you think when more is revealed and you get some of the twists! :) The first 3 episodes set up a lot but are probably the most "confusing".
This was such a great show! It definitely keeps you guessing all the way through. I loved how faithful they recreated various sitcoms from different decades. Episode 1 is from the 1950s, episode 2 is from the 1960s and episode 3 is from the 1970s.

Seb, your confusion has been hilarious to watch. I had forgotten this was a title available for viewing until one weekend after the 5th episode was released. I binged this on repeat over the weekend-one watching session right after the other non-stop. I then began watching analytical channels like New Rockstars to get a proper understanding of this series. When I first watched this, I fell in love completely because my mother brought me up to appreciate these types of sitcoms. I didn’t know what to expect-but then again, I wasn’t expecting anything but brilliance. 😊 I was so enchanted and charmed by each episode. I remember tearing up at the ends of episodes 1 and 2 when she and Vis discussed the rings and she manifested them, then when she turned around and showed her pregnant self on screen for the first time. I love the love that she and Vis had for each other, though I feel it was more an attachment from the mind stone since it was attached to his head and it enhanced her. Also, it was weird when *Warning: MOM spoiler ahead* she did not seek for Vis at all. I feel the connection between her and the redesigned Vision was lost since the mind stone is not a part of him. Episode 2, when she was pregnant, I teared up because I knew what that meant-the coming of Wiccan (my favourite) and Speed. I have always loved Wanda and Wiccan even before Wanda’s introduction to the MCU. I’m so thankful they are going to include Wanda in upcoming titles, and I cannot wait for them to do a version of “The Children’s Crusade.”

This is what I hated about audiences “in general” you had people saying they wanted something new and different and unique and no explosions or guns the first few minutes of the marvel show/movie. Then you have other people saying it’s confusing and boring. Like y’all can’t just put marvel between the two and expect both as of those two qualities can be meshed together like that. They gave us something unique and mysterious which was amazing

this tv series impressed me the most because of the amount of knowledge and research you would have to do in terms of how olden shows used to look like, what specific camera angles were used, the dialogue and scriptwriting style through the eras, production design, hair makeup and wardrobe or the sound effects or the music, lighting, along with the eras of acting styles and overall it really blew me away. huge props to them for pulling it off so well

Thanks for reacting to this show, Seb. It was hands down my favourite of the Marvel limited tv series and it was nearly all of my favourite sitcoms from Dick Van Dyke onward.
We all just speculated and obsessed from week to week while it was airing. Even though nobody was going to the office at that point in time, due to the pandemic, it provided the best “water-cooler moment” tv conversations I have heard in years. Everyone was coming up with theories and searching for easter eggs and clues. Sitcom aficionados and marvel comics super-fans were all mining our memories to make sense of it.
You already hit on the theory I clung to throughout. If, I had gone through what the movies put Wanda through, and I had her powers, I would absolutely create some pocket reality sitcom world where my dead partner and I could live the Bewitched life of half hour situations that resolve by the end of the episode. But then some of my theories were right and some of mu theories were completely off the mark.
My recommendation? Just sit right back, and enjoy the tale.
