    Thank you so much for being willing to share and teach. I truly appreciate it. Your tutorials have really helped me a great deal and the knowledge is priceless. Do you recommend using liquid fiberglass or just getting the sheets of it for making the mold for the mask?

      +Chris Scott no worries chopped strand fibreglass is what I’d recommend

    First off I absolutely admire how you go into step by step and make it clear to listen too
    Secondly
    Could this mask wearable? What i mean is if the method for the silicone used here was to be done again but with better material
    Would the mask be wearable?
    Or is the other method mandatory?

    • @creaturefleshmasks
      @creaturefleshmasks  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks! Yea it’s totally wearable when cast with a soft platinum silicone. If you watch the later videos you’ll see the final result

    I had the same issue with the clay sticking to the mold and taking a day and a half getting it all off. Have you found a better clay/mold combination that leaves less clay stuck?

    • @creaturefleshmasks
      @creaturefleshmasks  5 місяців тому +1

      I used a universal mould release from smooth on my latest mould. If you watch my latest videos on making a last of us inspired mask you can see the full process. The clay came out of the mould much easier! Still I few tricky bits but no where as time consuming.

    How did you get the right space for between the positive and the mold to get the right thickness of silicone poured in? As the clay is destroyed you just have the plastic armature which would not have the detail and be a lot smaller than the mold? Meaning the silicone would be very thick?

    • @creaturefleshmasks
      @creaturefleshmasks  4 місяці тому +1

      The thickness of the silicone is the exact thickness of the clay of the original sculpture. When you demould for the first time you get rid of the clay and that then makes a void that can then be filled by silicone. The detail from the sculpture is capture as a negative on the inside of the mould, and the positive head form serves as a smooth surface for the inside of the mask. Hope that makes sense.

    • @ramases1
      @ramases1 4 місяці тому

      @@creaturefleshmasks So you have to make the clay head a certain thickness; that of the required silicone thickness? Also the nose and ears on the armature are not too big so I'm guessing the silicone will come out thicker at the nose? I used a female armature to build a male head so the clay was a lot thicker which means I can't use the armature as the positive😭

    • @creaturefleshmasks
      @creaturefleshmasks  4 місяці тому

      It’s good if the armature is smaller as the mask will fit to your face better. Are you sculpting the mask on the armature you intend on using for the positive? If so the thickness of your clay will be replicated with silicone.

    • @ramases1
      @ramases1 4 місяці тому

      @@creaturefleshmasks I've already done the mask so now I don't have the right sized positive (the female armature) I will buy the male armature and hope it makes the space between it and the mold small enough that the silicone will be the right thickness. Otherwise looks like I ll have to make a clay head that achieves this I guess

    • @creaturefleshmasks
      @creaturefleshmasks  4 місяці тому +1

      You can always shave down the larger armature if it’s too big, I sometimes do this with my armatures If iv make the sculpture to thin in some areas. If you watch my latest video there’s a part where I do that. Hope that helps

    Brilliant video, may I ask what was the silicone you used for the test pull please as this is a great idea.

    • @creaturefleshmasks
      @creaturefleshmasks  5 років тому

      +G Black thanks! It was still a platinum silicone but it had a higher shore hardness so not as soft as the silicone I’ll be using in the final pull. You could use an rtv silicone that’s cheaper for a test pull but it will have some shrinkage, should determine wether the mould works if not though. Hope that helps

    Awesomeness. Thank you so much for the information. I have one more question regarding the scale you use to measure with. What kind of gram scale is it? What is the weight limit on your scale? I should probably rephrase by saying where can I get a gram scale at for measuring and what is the weight limit on the one I should buy?

    • @creaturefleshmasks
      @creaturefleshmasks  5 років тому +1

      Chris Scott I just use kitchen scales I think they have a limit of 5kg. Iv never needed any more than that

    Question:
    What kind of resin would you recommend for brushing over the armature? Or would you recommend fiber glass?

    • @creaturefleshmasks
      @creaturefleshmasks  5 років тому +1

      +Chris Scott I use a gel coat for the initial layer followed by a general purpose resin with fibreglass. You could go for a polyurethane resin but they’re a bit pricier

  • @chrisscott1083
    @chrisscott1083 5 років тому

    Hello again,
    I am in need of more information, for example, what type of gel do I need and finally, what kind of gram scale do you use? I ask because I unfortunately live in a state that is very backwards and for me to go in to purchase the items and to ask where they are, they look at me like they are totally clueless or like I'm crazy. So all of the details I can get would be very appreciated. Today I searched for a gram scale at several places that should've had one and all of them didn't have it or they didn't know what kind I needed. So if I can get the brand name or how many grams it can handle, that would be helpful in finding the right one that I need to use. And knowing what kind of gel you are speaking of would be very helpful as well. And if I would have to use something else other than fiberglass, is there something else that I could use with the risen and whatever the gel is?

    • @creaturefleshmasks
      @creaturefleshmasks  5 років тому +1

      +Chris Scott the gel coat is a polyester resin, it’s designed to capture detail before you apply the fibreglass and resin mix. I use about 500g to 1 kg of gel coat but it all depends on the size of your project. If your in the US try a company called brick in the yard.
