    So I bought a random brand of latex foam kit from a distributor, didn't know exactly how to use it and I just picked this random video on UA-cam to figure out how this material works.. and then 0:48 comes and.. HALLELUJAH! That's exactly what I bought..

    With your style of mixer you do not need to “back Bowl” the dead spot is in the middle of your whisk. Put two ping pong balls in the whisk, during the time you would usually back bowl-slowly raise and lower the mixing whisk. If you can. Your foam looked a little over baked you could mostly likely cut the bake time by 20-30 minutes. If you want a lower rise foam that will flow a bit easier, cut your rise time by another minute, extend your speed 2 time by 3-4 minutes. (This is subject to your conditions) Pour the foam in the lowest part of the mold, fill as necessary and then rotate the mold. Gently place your positive into the mold and let it settle on its own. Place your wood block horizontally on the positive, make sure the block extends past the edges of the mold, this way when the mold is strapped you only get downward pressure for better edges. No stress on the sides of the mold. Slowly strap and tighten.
    You can also drill a 1/4” hold in the center of the eye and nose where the flashing is. It will relieve hydraulic pressure for thinner edges and provide venting for excess moisture

    I think you did a great job. I like to make Foam Latex to. Something that I always use is a injection gun, and I never do get any bubbles. So just an ideal if you ever feel like doing Foam Latex again

    Did you make the tutorial for gelatin prosthetics and I'm the one that can't find it ? And for the oven, why can't it be a regular home oven. You can't cook anymore after using it to bake the prosthetic or is it just because during the cooking it's very bad to breath near it ?

    Try mixing alum with potassium carbonate into a latex solution. First put 15 ml of latex into a cup ( I've been using a 50ml slightly flexible plastic cut for my experiments). Then dilute 2.5ml of potassium carbonate in 3ml of water and then quickly stir it into the latex. This will make the latex strongly alkali and so resistant to body acid and will stop the latex instantly setting when an acidic substance is added. The add 2.5ml of alum to 3ml of water and stir in. Add this solution to to the latex and quickly stir in. When it reacts, the results will be a bit sloppy at first and will need to be left overnight. I demould with an artists knife. Use what ever is appropriate. It can take several days to fully dry but a hair dryer might help. It produces a fairly ridged hard foam. Once you have produced a satisfying test sample, you can then go on to trying to make usable shapes and forms with it. It is great using pre-fabricated materials but what if you knew the science and could improvise new solutions.

      Polite Q
      I think they mean not one you’re gonna eat food out of.
      I use a cheap mini oven for crafts and don’t eat anything from it

    Do you think you could get by with a blender instead of a mixer? I am wanting to get into foam latex, and have been working with regular latex for years, but I really want to get into this, and this is the first video I found that has shown me anything. Thank you for that!

      That's not "random" at all. I think the word you are looking for is "incidentally".

    • @user-pt1cz4ot1e
      @user-pt1cz4ot1e 4 роки тому +1

      Polite Q that’s not “polite” at all. I believe the word you are looking for is, “uncouth”, or maybe even, “boorish”.
      See, if you were shooting for constructive criticism, it’s understandable, but you should consider tone. Yes, your correction could be very valid. “Incidentally” (one of my favorite words) works very well there, but “random” could as well. “Odd, unusual, or unexpected” could describe the question just as well from the author’s perspective.
      Also, you missed a comma. 😉

      Then buy them 🤷
      Some people want to be able to make their own stuff tho.
      Also: if you want to make prosthetics at home, silicone might really be the better alternative because it doesn't need to be baked
