As a kid i was playing with other kids outside and running in our village. Basically this continues even if i am 16. Now we don't play but explore nearby mountains and caves amazing huh? Now i live i the city but my village is really close.

Toys R Us was an amazing toy store where I would run around with £5 thinking I was rolling in them bills
And looking for something to buy.
Toys R Us was an amazing, colourful and just friggin great store.

As employees, we were "given" $20 a day for misc. discounts. I got into trouble many a time on a kids birthday and they got a toy bargain. Lego was not allowed but anything else, it was a treat to see a smiling kid leaving the store. I was Geoffrey on birthday events. OMG, crying now.

This makes me so sad. 😭 Every year my mom would take me and my brothers to toys r us and we would spend all of our Christmas and birthday money. I loved running in there and seeing all the toys. That place was like paradise to me and I hate seeing it gone. My mom loved toys r us and she was as sad as we were when it was gone. 😭 I still play with toys!!

It’s ancient technology
I worked in management at TRU. There was never a doubt in my mind that they would eventually fail. I got out about 10 years before the end. Management was fully disconnected from the changing nature of retailing. They were focused on maintaining a strict cookie-cutter formula in which initiative and change were discouraged. After so many years of success, with little competition, they thought it would last forever. They didn't see it coming. Faced with a steadily eroding market share they were incapable of putting forth a meaningful response. They just kept on keeping on. They were a victim of their own arrogance.
If it wasn't for Romney and his Bain Capital firm buying out Toys R Us, they'd still be in operation today as its former self, but as a smaller yet functional chain.
Brings back so many memories.

There is a Toys R Us in Northampton, UK that i went to a few years ago. It still had all the 90's logos and features that I loved. But sad enough it closed in 2019. I moved to my home in Poland but I dont know what is happening with the Toys R Us in 2022.
I came to toys r us to get a sheep plush when toys r us is closing forever for something to remember and I am not ashamed to have this as a teen right now

I miss toy r us because it’s was my childhood favorite store.. but I’m so sad that they closed in Arkansas North Little Rock and or Little Rock. I remember when I would have to beg my mom to take me. Or to even let me get something. And when I did get something it was like heaven, the feeling you got when you bought something from there. It’s so sad that the kids today will never get to experience the joy and happy feeing of being in Toys R Us. ❤️😭

My childhood store had the logo with the yellow R and no star. Then when they remodeled the store to add the Babies "R" Us section, they also updated the store front logo to the latest version. They also took away the red, yellow, green and blue tile layout from the front of the store during the remodel. Curious here, but did you take the composition book? That was a really cool piece of TRU history you found.

My mom worked at a Toys R Us and when it closed she and the friends she made lost their jobs. I felt SO sad and all the employees took one last photo of all the employees together. 😔
It’s crazy so many people lost their jobs 😞 whats even worse is Toys R Us my rebrand and open again so the really screwed a lot of people! Hope your mom and the rest of your family are doing well :)
