They had to lower the shields to beam Sheppard and Ronon out yet they never had to do that before. In No Man's Land they beamed the team and Michael out of a Wraith Scout Ship with no problems in the middle of battle.
It was honestly a plot device I think, also they have the latest and greatest shields now from the last era of asgard so it may be different is the technical explanation
The unexplored conceit that can work around this problem is the Wraith scout could have ducked in behind the Daedalus and they dropped the shield on the unengaged side of the ship to beam them in.
I think this was the best show for space battles until the Season Finale of Star Trek Discovery Season 2. Nothing tops The Enterprise and Discovery vs Control's Section 31 ships.
Wraith cruiser is too agile for the Daedalus to engage and destroy the weapons emplacements in any good time. The only reason they were able to do so later is because they used the more maneuverable F-302s for the job.
(Meanwhile in space a Dalek battle cruiser/saucer is engaging two pursuing Cybermen Warships. The Dalek saucer focus's it fire on the smaller Cybermen ship and destroys it completely with several shots)
[Dalek Bridge]: Dalek Saucer Commander: "Very well. Maintain stability of this vessel." Dalek 1: "Fuel down to 65 percent capacity. Enemy vessel shields are at 35 percent capacity." Dalek Saucer Commander: "Focus fire all weapons on enemy vessel. REPORT?" Dalek 2: "We have acquired the Progenitor!" Dalek Saucer Commander: "Excellent! Proceed to phase two!" Dalek 2: "I OBEY!" (While the Dalek Saucer is trying to evade the much larger pursuing Cyber Warship. Two more Cyber Warships exit hyperspace and begin firing on the Dalek Saucer) [Dalek Bridge]: Dalek 1: "ALERT! ALERT! Two Cyber warships have exited hyperspace! This vessel is now in danger!" Dalek Saucer Commander: "We must protect the Progenitor! Strategist! Compute hyperspace jump to secure location! Dalek 1: "Incoming transmission!" Dalek Saucer Commander: "Display!" Cyber Leader: "Attention Daleks! You will return the stolen technology to us or you will be eliminated." Dalek Saucer Commander: "NO!" Cyber Leader: This is irrectical! You cannot survive this engagement! You are outnumbered! You will surrender to the Cybermen!" Dalek Saucer Commander: "The technology is of Dalek origin! Close communication channel!" Dalek 1: "Hyperspace coordinates set! PREPARE!" (The Dalek Saucer makes the hyperspace jump in time as the three pursuing Cybermen warships who do not pursue)
They should have NEVER dropped their shields to save John and Ronan .. They could have taken out the troops on the ground and just disabled Michael's engines .. There are more ways to skin a Wraith than just 1
Come to think of it do we see them aim to disable the engines or weapons on ships in Stargate Atlantis? Once you've done that, you have all the time in the world. They seem to disable a ship in 3x01 but they didn't seem to plan to.
"Major Marks, PLEASE make that ship go away!!!" I think that's a sentiment we ALL shared.
😂
I strongly agree.
No matter how many times I watch this scene, that line never gets old.
@@vexingpotato5186 No kidding!!!
@@vexingpotato5186 one of the best line in the entire Episode
Caldwell: Marks, do you see that ship?
Marks: Yes Sir.
Caldwell: I don't want to.
Never gonna get over the sound of the amazing Daedalus class.
"Major Marks, PLEASE make that ship go away"
Major Marks hits 2 glancing blows!
2 Critical hits!
Destroyed.
Love the bc 304 engine sound and Michael was a big threat loved how dangerous he became
The 304s really sounded incredible, didn't they?

@@851995STARGATE You ever see Star Trek? Beaming and shields never mix. But you're also right, it only matters when it's dramatically appropriate.
@@josephmort4039 plenty of examples in Stargate where they had shields up and beaming. This was definitely a plot device
I’d like to think that like weapons you can beam down stuff but not up with shields

I name my gunner in FTL Major Marks so I can say that.
I'm stealing that.
The sound the shield makes when engaged.
I miss stargate. Very few sci fi shows did space battles as well as they did.

I'm also partial to The Expanse myself, for the realistic physics.
Carter was stupid, they should have taken out the cruiser's weapons before dropping their shields.
But they were about to get sheppard and ronon so there was not time

@@BogeyTheBear then they should have deployed the fighters BEFORE lowering the shields.
This is what playing Stellaris feels like.

Please make Putin go away.
Here here.
1 Klingon D-7 battlecruiser refit versus 2 Wraith Cruiser's. Which ships would win a space battle?
haha. humans owned them.
No drone
