This was so funny!! 😅 That was a crazy story - I loved his humility and owning his comments. I mean, he would never have thought the actual writer and original organist would just drop into the comments section 😂 Props to Les (Hope I got that name right) for learning all of those pieces of music like that 👏 Amazing work. I love Whiter Shade of Pale, even though I have no idea what it is really about!! 😊 Catch you in another random video - see, I said I would make the time to catch up!! Thanks for the laugh 😃 👍 ❤❤
His interview with Nuno Betancourt is fantastic. He has a tremendous amount of knowledge, but when it comes to new, young music he can veer into 'old man yells at clouds' territory.
I think it is interesting how we have turned "old man" into almost a slur when in fact, age and experience should be respected. Look at Rick's background, his history, and his achievements; at 62 years old, he has not only seen multiple significant cultural shifts, but has actually worked in the music industry through many of these shifts. How many of his detractors can say that? He has been in the perfect position to absorb and gather data to support his ideas, whether you like or agree or not, he is certainly qualified to offer his perspective. The bottom line is that years are going to pass. Decades are going to pass. And at some point, culture will shift in a direction that they don't agree with, and then they will be the new old men yelling at the clouds. I hope you don't take this as an attack @RussInCanada. I've just been thinking a lot about this for the last couple of days. Thanks as always for watching, and it's always a pleasure to read your comments.
Rick catches a lot of crap when he talks about new music, but much of it is unfair. He talks very positively of a fair number of new artists that actually have musical chops (like Tosin Abasi). But I always enjoy his videos. Full disclosure: I have all his Beato Book stuff and am a Beato Club member (my name's even in the shout outs in the more info on this very video lol).
@@TobyGuidry yeah I have no problem with him I think he catches a lot of crap for no reason. I'll tell you the reactor's name is Anthony you probably know which one I'm talking about

I watched this last night Rick's content is always good.
I agree. He has so much knowledge and experience.
He's got one with a Domonic Miller and Paul Davids story that's' funny. UA-camr vs songwriter.
I do appreciate the variety of content that Rick puts out. I haven't seen this one. 🤘🤘

I corrected him once and he doubled down. He's a douche.
