    Thank you from the bottom of my heart, 4 two weeks I have been strugling to get my vertical bling repaired, only one track would slide, while the other stayed stationary, took it to 2 so called blinds manufacturer, both said they do not handle that brand, it has been discontinued 12 years ago. I said all I need is to sort out why only one fuctioned and not the other, they seemed not to have time for an old man, after perusing your video, I discovered that all I needed was 2 crimps, so I improvised by using 2 plit shots, (normally used for fishing) and now my vertical blind is like new. ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU FOR THE DEMONSTRATION.

    Thank you so much for this! It took me a while to figure it out but I finally found the pulley on the end -- the string had broken and pulled out of the entire end. Your video really helped and I was able do it myself! A flashlight and a pair of reading glasses were also necessary. I made my own string puller from a length of wire and just crimped the string to it after I pulled it through the sliders.

    When you get to the end of the rail and make the turn where the chain is, does the new string end up sliding up under the end cap? Thanks for your video! Well done and easy to see! 👍 😊

    Thanks for the video has greatly helped me fix my blind. My only problem is I am in UK and can’t find the string crimps. Any ideas on where to get them or alternatives?

      Stuart - I'd try a store that sells supplies for making jewelry. There are probably some crimps in that section that would work.

    Diagram shows the Knotted center carrier needs 3 holes? It shows three cords through it, but carriers have only 2 holes.
    PS I have a 12 foot headrail and it has taken many many difficult hours to thread a new cord through all of the carriers and I still can't see how to connect the cord from the non-control end to the knotted center carrier.
    It would be good to see please a whole video on a complete restring of an offset blind instead of from stage 13.

      Hi there, Thanks for your comment. All vertical blinds are configured differently with where the string ties off and it can be tricky to restring them. If you'd like to share some detailed pictures of your blinds, we can take a look and see if we can help. Please email the photos to us at service@fixmyblinds.com.

      Thank you very much for your kind offer. I found the original carriers and strings (The blind went wrong because the fitter used cheap string, which frayed then tangled with the metal spacers, then the crimps destroyed the holes in the carrier. Nevertheless I found the original carrier on the knotted side of the headrail and the fitter had tied the knots inside the centre carrier on the notted side. I guess I will have to find a way to do the same, and try to avoid having to shorten the cord at the very end. Thanks. @@fixmyblinds

    I have a st of blinds that will pull to the middle but one side still not return. I have asked around but everyone says they no longer work on them. Any suggestions how to fix them?

      Karen, thanks for your question. The carriers (the pieces each individual slat snaps into) are all connected to each other with some plastic or metal straps or scissors. If they become disconnected from each other, it can cause problems with them moving properly. I'd check the straps to see if they need to be reattached. However, it may be easier to replace the head rail. You can purchase a new head rail at www.reslat.com. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    You fail to give instructions on threading through the non control end and when that’s done. I may have figured it out but totally had to start over.

    Can I change my vertical blind from center opening to side opening from the right side?

    • @fixmyblinds
      @fixmyblinds  5 років тому

      There is a way to do this, but we don't have any instructions for converting it. If you want to change how it is operated, it's best to purchase a new headrail. Checkout www.reslat.com for that.

    I have a split draw vertical blind head rail in my living room window. Something happened and one side does not pull to the center anymore except for the very first vertical, the rest stay to the far end. Pulling on the next vertical makes the entire remainder of verticals move to the center, as they should as a single unit. What should I be looking for as the problem or should I just buy a new head rail?

      Dave - Thank you for your question. The carriers are all attached to each other with metal or plastic strips called Spacer Straps. You can look to see if that first carrier is disconnected from the others or if the strap is broken. If it just got disconnected, reattaching it should fix it. If the strap is broken, we do not sell those and it's time for a new head rail. Please let me know if you have any other questions or run into any other issues. ~ Gretchen

      Thanks, that will make things easier to get done. I appreciate your fast reply. I found one place that sells them for $1.50 each and $7.00 to mail it to you. It's original to a 1989 house so I think it's due for an upgrade instead of a fix. Thanks again!
