    Nice video. I like that you get right to the point, no mindless babbling and explain things well. And no stupid “music”. Thx

    I cut a "Luffa" slice, I ironed it flat flat, and sprayed it with clear fixative... works like a magic. Just a thought. I have a professional Vinyl cutter and drew up my shields in corel draw and then cut it...

      @@theartworkshop Again, I'm impressed with your knowledge and you putting it out there for free. I know my stuff and you are doing an excellent job mate. Nobody agrees 100% of the time (I hate Badgers... my choice) and I have ex-students who even love the old mdl 150???
      Be safe, Agent Orange has put a stop for many projects I wanted to do (I had to retire as both the US and Australian VAs rated me at 100% disabled... Never trust a politician ... goes without saying!
      I'll never forget finding "Airbrush: The Complete Studio Handbook", by Rado Vera (Hard Back) back in the 80's in Sydney. I had my College Students hand cut the shield ... they complained, but they worked like magic.

    I've said this to many
    Old x-ray films work great as stencils. It's like mylar but it's made to withstand chemicals. Just in case you use harsh paints or thinners.

    I'm learning so much on your channel. I was "sticker-shocked" at the prices of retail masks & shields - I knew there had to be a DIY alternative. Thanks!

    How about using thicker paper and then coating it on both sides with some kind of acrylic spray or lacquer to make it more durable? Anyone have any ideas what to spray or soak it in? There has to be some way to plastify it so it becomes more durable.

    I was wondering if you've ever tried to do super complex print outs with Cricut? I was going to buy it and print out my own! I have so many distressed and grunge and painting splatter and brush textures on my computer I was going to print out for stencil textures....then I realized if it would have issues? Or should I try a different material? Not sure tho 😅

    • @theartworkshop
      @theartworkshop  5 місяців тому +1

      I haven't but would love to try it someday. There are some pretty awesome tutorials on the cricut here on youtube. From my experience a thinner material is so much more forgiving. It can cut mylar, but would be impossible for advanced cut outs. Paper or light cardstock would probably work pretty well for that.

      thanks man. No, I have nothing to do with him. I only use the paint that he makes (createx illustration) and found out about him from seeing his name on the bottle. I come from an art school background- bachelors in art in college and a masters in fine art (MFA) after that.
