To get the length of the size belt you need tie a slip knot on a piece of rope and run it around the pulleys and tighten it down and mark the spot on the rope.. Take the rope to parts store for comparison..
To avoid the check engine light leave the egr hooked up completely. Run a new vacuum line from the soup can to the evr solenoid and then coming off that to the egr valve.

Do you have the belt running to the ac? If so that won't the right belt. I have a shorter belt on mine due to the compressor locked up, but I'm still rolling on the smog pump and that's a shorter belt than ac one.
@Thomas Roberts what I meant to say is it wouldn't be the right belt for my application I were to delete the smog pump too, mine hasn't shown any signs of going bad yet but I'm looking for options when it finally goes sour.
My 89 is already basic truck, no power glass, no cruise, manual 5 speed. I wanna strip away all the unnecessary junk under the hood eventually. Great video. Thank you 😊
What about the wiring? I plan on deleting my 97 f250sd 5.8 smog pump. And Catalytic converter? I'm going to remove mine cuz its gonna get dirty quick due to no more gas recirculation. I've got 122k on my truck n its driving me nuts with this gd emissions system.
Extremely important and not mentioned in the video you need to remove the catalytic converter and install a short piece of exhaust pipe in its place otherwise overtime it will plug up and cause reduced engine performance and compression the smog pump is needed to pump air into the converter to burn up the noxious exhaust gases before the exhaust is released into the atmosphere I am doing the same thing with my 1996 eddie bauer series f150 if you are having trouble with the automatic transmission you can purchase and aftermarket transmission controller that bypasses the pcm and increases transmission performance available from bonham industries
that is good on mine I am leaving in the resonator that is between the cat and the muffler I do not thing that makes a difference I may just install a glass pack in the future with dual exhaust and see if that makes a difference

I've got a 1993 F150 4.9 with A/C. My smog pump seized up snapping the belt. I bought the new belt 810K6 but it seems way too short. Did you route the belt the same way but just without a smog pump pulley or is there a different way tio route it now?
Jim Bryant ima be 100% honest with you. I don’t really remember but I want to say I had to route the belt alittle different, I do remember trying it a fiew times before I found a way it would work
Well when I did the engine swap in this truck (5.0 to 4.9) the dash had a check engine light probably from the catalytic converters being deleted, I just ignored it for a while till my oil pressure gauge quit working so when I went to replace the gauge I just unplugged the check engine light. This was before I did the smog pump delete, truck never ran wierd from any of that
marcos acosta v6 inline? And I’m sure it’s gonna throw a code or 2 but this truck in particular had a engine swap and the light was on since I got it. So a check engine light was the least of my worries
