Having to retie after pretty much every fish with flouro is a real pain. Especially if you are using it as a leader. Been much happier with the hybrid.
Yep, I’ve been fishing both in fresh and saltwater for over 40 years and have used a plethora of different lines but I always go back to copolymer. The only line I use ( and have for the past 15 years is Izorline xxx copolymer.
I found the Suffix pro mix coplymer green box at academy for $5.99 for 330 yards last summer and changed all my rods out with the this stuff I just Purchased some yo-zuri 12lb this week and caught a bass that ran me up under some brush and I pulled him out!! That Yo-zuri is strong!!!!!
@@CastingwithKirkI have to try that Yo-Zuri braid. I just purchased the Berkley X9 braid moss green last week and I had the yo- zuri in my hand and I put it back down😂. I haven't heard anyone talk about it because they swear by the power pro briad but the yo zuri is about $1.50 cheaper for 150 yards. I will get some this week. They seem to have the same breaking point as power pro also. I typed this message Nov 3, 2024.
Kirk, thanks so very much - excellent video! I agree with you 100%. Take a look at Izorline - fantastic copoly line that is great for everything except top water.
For spinning reels, I liked that you were only recommending it for up to 10lbs. (I won't be using it in place of the 15lb braid + fluoro leaders on my spinning reels.)
I myself haven’t really messed around much with the braid to Fluorocarbon leader setup. I find that using 6-10lb copolymer or mono is an inexpensive setup and covers most applications, at least for me.
Many co-poly's do not contain flourocarbon. Co-polymers are absolutely a "monofilament" as is flourocarbon... Dictionary... single-strand of any material, whether alloyed or blended. "Multi-filament" would be 'braids/fused' of certain materials.

Fluoro definitely has some good uses for sure but I like the cost and strength of Copolymer
You nailed it - spot on great job save money and get great performance.
I use it on most my baitcast setups. Never have any breakage issues or bad performance.
Thanks and glad you enjoyed the information. 👍

I have been told to try the Izorline co. Just might have to get a spool
@@CastingwithKirk good stuff! Make sure to get the XXX copolymer… the Platinum isn’t nearly as good 👍🏻🎣
Thanks for the tip

I also like Yo- Zuri braided line. Smooth casting and strong.
I use the Sufix ProMix on my panfish rods. Works great.
@@CastingwithKirkDo Yozuri hybrid strings include strings coated with fluorocarbon?

@ according to their website it's a bonded nylon and fluorocarbon
