$1100 for a 4000 watt amp. Man times have changed in the last two years. I run a Synergy WFO3.1 and it was $800 new. More power at any load. But this one comes with a $300 sundown sticker.
Rockford Fosgate T40001bd used to go for about that much over 15 years ago so $1100 sounds about right especially since it puts out more than 4K at 14 volts

The SALT 4k looks identical to my Synergy 3.1 inside. Such a great build house and these amps are tanks. If you blow one of these amp, you probably have more money than brains.
Agreed, very very similar. I have a couple wfo 3ks. Built n heavy. If the salt 4k wast so overpriced I would have those instead. Glad I went the synergy way they've served me well for over a yr of daily abuse.
Hi ,really big fan of your videos, appreciate the effort that goes in and the outcome is always interesting 👍, have you ever dyno'd a DD Audio DM2500 and what's your opinion on DD Audio 712 d4, I would really appreciate your comments
So they tell us the wattage is less and charge for what it actually is. Then everyone claim it does numbers. Gotcha. I’ll put this on my list of amps that I may get for my next build
For that price I would have liked to have seen better quality components in the amp. I do audio repair and restoration for a living and the cheap Chinese caps in this amp are some of the worst, have a fairly high failure rate. For not much more they could have gone with something from Panasonic’s line, Nichicon, or Rubycon. We’re talking cents per device here. Even if the production cost went up $50 for the entire amp it would be worth it. I’ve replaced 40 year old Nichicon and Panasonic caps that still measured perfectly and at the same time have replaced dozens of CapXon caps that have failed only being 5-6 years old. I figured the price of the amp would suggest better quality than budget amps. I guess you’re paying for circuitry layout instead of circuitry components.
This amp is a beast to say the least! Big D, price aside, how does this amp compare to other 3K amps you’ve tested in the past? Worth the exception of the Orion that put out a crazy number (12k?) and efficiency, this amp seems to stand alone? Please correct me if I’m wrong.
I would like to use a Salt-3 on a Kicker Quad Box but unsure if that would be a good solution considering the L7 is a dvc. I figure with good electrical I'll be able to throw way more than 3k at the box, just trying to avoid having to run two amps, one per pair.
It's making me salty and itching to get one, because my 1500w sub only got a 2 ohm stable amp wired to 1 ohm that is rated "480 watts". You might want to test this chip amp like you did the TPA's back then (it is a TAS5630 amplifier board from China) And come on, lithium? Unfair! Well you can now take on the 20k amps in the future and I will be looking forward on that!

Great video 💪
Great work 7.1 Home theater dts surrounding sound system package cost?
Big D Wiz, 2022! and........beyond!! YEAHH!! BOIII!! 🇺🇸 🇯🇲 .
Amen. Y'all gonna see stuff other than car audio this year, but plenty of it to keep you wanting more
Awesome!!!

The SALT 4k looks identical to my Synergy 3.1 inside. Such a great build house and these amps are tanks. If you blow one of these amp, you probably have more money than brains.
Beefy fo sho
Agreed, very very similar. I have a couple wfo 3ks. Built n heavy. If the salt 4k wast so overpriced I would have those instead. Glad I went the synergy way they've served me well for over a yr of daily abuse.
Built like tanks yet I was starting to see people asking where to get them repaired within a month of the being released for sale.
Hey can you do a Dyno death match with all the 3k you have. It would be great to see the outputs with the new lithium banks.
Wish I could buy one actually only need the salt 2 but maybe when funds are better
👌😊👍
Probably going to get one of these for my 2 Sundown SAv2 18s. Should do much better than my Walfram 2400.
POWA yes sir🚗🔊🎶
Hi ,really big fan of your videos, appreciate the effort that goes in and the outcome is always interesting 👍, have you ever dyno'd a DD Audio DM2500 and what's your opinion on DD Audio 712 d4, I would really appreciate your comments
I haven't dyno'd a DD amp yet, but from what I've heard, they are great amps
So they tell us the wattage is less and charge for what it actually is. Then everyone claim it does numbers. Gotcha. I’ll put this on my list of amps that I may get for my next build
2 strapped RF T2500 or this amp. What would you choose
I think it was 13123 at .5 dynamic, and almost half the price too , also his new lithium bank has more juice than old one
Thanks bro!!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Do an EMF merica 12k amp please. Mine does 17000 watts at 2ohms,would love to see one on amp dyno!!!
SALT amps are beasts !!!
i love these amps
👌😊👍
Big D you should do a head to head Orion hcca 3000.1dsplx vs this salt3k for a shoot out !!!! That would get a ton of views
I'm not seeing the Orion available anywhere unfortunately. They are both beasts, Orion more powerful overall though
@@wal I've got 2 brand new I'll send you one if you want to compare them dude still in the box
@@wal by the way this is Ryan Connors
@@wal nice
Waiting on you to test out JP63 series amp. We all know sundown amps is the best of the best out aka SALT SERIES :)
Should have one in hand soon 😬
@@wal Awesome
Uhhg! More parts to stock. I think I see TO220 size gate drive IC's hugging that output card.
You can confirm with TheAmpLab.net , they know these well
@@wal Thank you Derek I hear they are a busy place with repairs.
I got the crescendo bc6k over the salt4k and saved a 100 bucks or so but also got the extended warranty and saved money. Should I have went Sundown?
Nothing wrong with the Nendo. It and the DC are extremely well built and offer very high efficiency
Also OG's watch until the end
You know it!
You might want to test this chip amp like you did the TPA's back then (it is a TAS5630 amplifier board from China)
And come on, lithium? Unfair! Well you can now take on the 20k amps in the future and I will be looking forward on that!
