I'm running a single 6.5 ct sounds meso in my concrete mixer. People can't believe I'm running such a small sub for how loud it is. I'm a big fan of small subs. Great video
I put 4 in my civic with an md3000. Did a transmission line and did 141.3 on the windshield and 1400watts. They sound awesome. They are nice and punchy.

Although there is not a difference in throat size of the vent from the “loading chamber” to the “vent”, I am restricting their air flow by having too small of a vent. I think it ended up being 10 sq in per sub. Either way, it left an impression on people. lol. Nice pick of woofer for the mixer 👍

Flirting with 140 is an accomplishment in itself but I'm more impressed with the lack of ripple across the frequencies you metered. Folks won't necessarily realize how musical this box probably sounds. No one note burp box here great job
How to you get a musical box. Im getting 2 sundown x8 v4s in a couple of weeks. And i love the way this sounds. Can you tell me what i need to do to get that sound?
@@b3llyfull to get musical is best to stick to the manufacturer's specifications as closely as possible. That's how they rate their box size suggestions. To get deeper Bass the boxes typically bigger. To get more accurate the box is usually smaller.
Bro I'm impressed. I have 4 DD 6.5 in subs in my mustang an they bang hard thanks to my man big jeff. Keep up the content everything you do is real informative am has helped me understand car audio a little better.

@triadjoker96942- These subwoofers don't have much X Max, or total piston area. These 6.5"s, with this surround, only have about 10 to 12 sq. In of cone area, per subwoofer. Not to mention, Puresesh is a top tier enclosure designer/builder, and SPL competitor.
I want you to put one in a folded horn box and see what it does. Also interested in seeing these subs in your other enclosures. Thanks for your hard work we appreciate it

Those Sundowns have a very unique design! The enclosure design could definitely be beneficial for a particular application! Imagine it under the bed of an RV!! Awesome video!
Hell yeah.. great video. This is the shit that get me in trouble from doing all the stuff I am "suppose" to be doing. I will be outside doing all kinda tests. hahahah... 45 years old and just got back into car stereo.
I like this format. The subs are small but when they are all in a row like that they almost form one very long sub. A bit like how a 6x9 works the 9" length produces more bass and the 6" width produces more mid. This long array can simulate the longer length for deeper frequency reproduction. Back in the day we had some larger version of 6x9's like 8x10" or something. Unfortunately I can't remember what they were exactly as it was around 30 years ago or more. Thanks for the links but I was a bit shocked by the price of the SMD power meter. Going to have to find a cheaper way. Seen something on Ali ex but it's probably not going to do the same job. I've been driving 24x 1" compression drivers wired down to 1.3Ohms per ch on a Powersoft 4 chan 3kw stable to 2 ohms. I'm guessing the impedance rise is what saves me but they are only 1" motors so not that hard to drive. Do these Sundown amps have a clip signal led? I mean you really need clipping lamps up front by the head unit. Then you would know exactly where the subs start to clip depending on their temperature etc.
I should mention I got that with to Jo 10w3-v3s d4s in a custom ported box ported into the cabin up on the ear glass & speakers sealed off from the trunk in a 2002 dodge stratus. Prob hit 145 with a soundstream reference 700sx amp at 2ohms bridged. The cars shape played a big deal in that
these should use bouble baffles. One that is 8" stock, then a second one with spacers outside of the mechanical limits that are maybe 10 or 12 inches. Would be interesting to se and hear anyway. Like a koaxial, but for subwoofer freq. Give me money now please :)
You do a good job on your test . Ive watched alot of your vids . Although they not always be 100% accurate test .. you always try to get controlled results 🤝👍 good job
Not so fast on all the other carriers. FedEx has been known on occasion to wimp out. Not always the drivers, sometimes the managers. Well, now that I think about it, our post office has a day every now and then too, but UPS absolutely never misses a delivery if it makes it to the final hub.
Quality build and video. Don't think I'll be building though. Had three sundown E series 10s, jp8 wired to .67 ohm, clamping 747, burping 140db. While this was in a 85 escort, the box size was similar, and cost comparison is way different.
There's a lot of vibration. They don't seem to kick like they should. It could be too many speakers. It makes the sound waves cross each other and causes interference. I'd go with a 12 inch" subwoofer and two of those six inchers.
Really nice Box Design , But i dont get it , why you dont test this with a wired connection , since bluetooth compresses a lot , also when listening music wired ... hits waay harder !
I ordered one last week too replace a toro 6.5.. wow these mini beasts are no joke.. very surprised how loud and low these dig, might just get another one.
two 12s has significantly more cone area than five 6.5s. they would play louder and be in a smaller box as well. also, because two 12s has so much more cone area and total displacement (as long as the subs are decent), you will have less distortion and be more efficient doing it without overheating the coils. only use these subs if you cant physically fit a larger sub. even then, consider a custom design with a larger sub anyways. these subs are a VERY niche product.

@@BudgetBassHead a single 15 with 19mm xmax in a ported box would use less trunk space, have more total cone area, and go deeper than 5 6.5s at 19mm xmax. theyre a good product but it doesnt make sense to use a ton of then, especially in the truck of a car. just use a larger speaker instead so youre not pounding away outside of the speakers 70% BL limit of xmax, so much less distortion.
@OxBlitzkriegxO you have all that knowledge about a woofer but have no idea what the difference is when the acoustic impedance is matched to the listening space. Displacement and motor force are huge in making calculations, but if the power is not transferred from point to point or if there is cancelation, all that power goes to heat. Check out PURSESH and let me know what you think

Have you ever tried different subs/port orientations? Subs forward and port to the side seem to do well in most trunks, and subs and port back would be next. I'm convinced you are robbing yourself of DBs with all the cancellations going on with subs forward and port back.
Why use 8s? Why not 10s,12s and so on? Is there a sound quality benefit over larger subs? Designing my system now ( but I'm a car audio noob) and would really like to know.
The sound signature of these are cleaner and the power handling of the U-65 are better. The Meso 65 sounds good, as well, however, they will bottom out if pushed TOO hard. Which is understandable, but the U-65 seems to want more.
@@premierBASS it's all in the tuning of your enclosure. These have a bit more mechanical travel so you may be able to get use of them from a larger enclosure. However you must keep the port area smaller
@BudgetBassHead- Great video. A 141.3 Db, 49 Hz, on just under 1,700 watts, is very good for these tiny subwoofers. Will you plese measure the width of 1 of these subwoofers, 1st from edge of cone to edge of cone= 0 of the surround. Second, measure 1/2 surround, to the other sides, half surround, please? Im curious, how small the actual cone area really is. Thank you.
good video i got 2 sets of 10's from BJ. but that's over 800 dollars worth of 6.5 inch woofers not really budget IMO. a set of 10's is cheaper and yield higher spl. sa v2's would be a better choice. unless you have very limited space. five 6.5's need the pretty much the same air space as the 10's that being said big j has cheaper prices on sundown than sundown and my woofers came direct from sundown thru jeff for 40 dollars less.

Latest Apple software has a glitch causing Bluetooth loose connectivity. Apple acknowledges this problem.

Very niche... maybe 10 years ago. Pickup trucks have been utilizing 6 inch subs for years. I use them to save 80% of my trunk space.

good video i got 2 sets of 10's from BJ. but that's over 800 dollars worth of 6.5 inch woofers not really budget IMO. a set of 10's is cheaper and yield higher spl. sa v2's would be a better choice. unless you have very limited space. five 6.5's need the pretty much the same air space as the 10's
that being said big j has cheaper prices on sundown than sundown and my woofers came direct from sundown thru jeff for 40 dollars less.
But I saved 80% of my trunk space.
