I can't believe there was a time when it was bad to be muscular and strong. Guy in the video called it envy. He was absolutely right. It's easier to mock then to put in the hard work.
I would say it still is like that, I have gotten a bunch of hate.

No, its not. Just bodybuilders. Fatty strongmen and ordinary muscular athletes (boxers, swimmers) was acceptable by people.
It wasnt bad to be muscular and strong, it was bad to be oiled up on stage in budgie smugglers

Arnold brought bodybuilding from obscurity to the mainstream...💪
Exactly, this is one example
not arnold but weider brothers. he was just tool...
More like the Weiders brought it from obscurity and enlarged it by bringing Arnold from Austria
The Weiders were good businessmen.
But Arnold was someone you don't find a dime a dozen.
He's got that charisma, that is a major factor.
In this short interview as well.
The way he speaks, and he's right also on what he says.

Arnold did for Bodybuilding what Bruce Lee did for martial arts!! Great video!!!👍

Arnold did for bodybuilding what Gene Kelly did for tap dancing. And what Evel Knievel did for daredevils 🙃🙃.
Yeeees Sir!!!🤓 well Said
Yep, its sucks though he isn't what people say he is!
What? Nahhh you dont know bodybuilders, he isnt the first to make it so fake.
Go do some more research
A lot of the guys look reasonably natural & well-proportioned too.
I believe they were
.... some roid-acne though. But in general, natural looks.
Here we go again with the "natty" B.S who cares if they are or not.Its a personal choice that shouldnt even be a topic or bother you..Gear does nothing at all without putting in animalstic work.Remember that.
If gear doesn't work, why not just stay natty then. lol
@@Simon-talks gear at actual moderate dosages say under 1 gram a week total Will only work if everything else is on point. And yes if You have never taken anything before you Will grow at first But its the same as training you can get to a 315 squat and get some results But if You keep doing that 315 for the same reps it Dont to shit for growing more muscle. You either have to up the weight or do more with 315 to grow more. And upping the weight Will very likley get you injured and meanwhile doing 315 for 20 eventually is much safer But still making progress. So yes gear works But not very Well unless you are perfect in all other aspects it just helps those things you already do work better and it lets you grow more from those things.
Arnold was just on whole different level, both physically and mentally.
Dude he still is truly. Even old as hell keep himself peak performance for age...crazy how his mentality always was and had a goal and advanced shit...amazing..he my favorite bro
@George Prince HAHAHAHA comon Bro...even if thats true...he completely deserves that hahaha!

I wish I could find the video of Arnold being asked why he took up bodybuilding, and he replied (and you have to imagine his thick accent saying this) "When I was 15 years old I stood naked in front of the mirror, and realized that one part of me was way too big for the rest of me. So I took up bodybuilding to make the rest of me seem more symmetrical."
That's awesome
He told it to Johny Carson on the Tonight Show when Johny asked him what made you want to get so big?
This can't be real :))
@@usernameRika True Story he also told a story on another show how he saw an agent to get into the movies. So the agent according to Arnold told him look you have a name that is hard to pronounce and your accent is to thick and your just to big for the screen just stick with Body Building! actually he was not :-) i saw documentary and he clearly claimed that he was shy and couldn't speak. but reg park was great speaker which was inspiring for arnold. when arnold visited reg in england reg just threw him into water one day when on some meeting after his speech he let, respectively forced arnold to speak. and arnold started to work on it. when he arrived to usa, he was already quite experienced...

This is a cool retro video presentation on bodybuilding from the '70's when the sport was becoming more popular. Cool interview featuring Arnold. They were right, people did not understand the principles and disciplines of bodybuilding. They ought to understand that bodybuilding is a sport and an art, the art of human sculpture.
Back then the sport was practice by a few who understood it and loved it, now it has evolved into something else
What a great find. Thank you for posting!

Wow. Never seen this before. Great!
Great development for nine months of working out.
No kidding. Must have been in good shape before.
Decent genetics, diet full of eggs and meats 🍖 during childhood and adolescence along with being active in sports from a young age is all that's needed for a good natural build.
@@michaelangelo5783 It's good to finally read a comment that's decent and not ignorantly stating "roids roids roids".
@@rufusgreenleaf2466
Right. I think the people who always yell roids are those who've never really given proper diet, proper lifting (mind muscle connection I see so many people in the gym lacking) and sleep 110% for more than a month at a time...or they unfortunately have horrible genetics or improper development due to growing up on Ramen and hot Cheetohs.
He was a cop after all. So, probably athletic already before starting
People that have worked out regularly and have built their body know that the feeling you get physically and mentally from staying on a disciplined program is what drives you, more than the looks. If you workout only for looks, it's likely you will have hard time doing it, because your looks will not change over night. You have to go through a discipline and mental change before you will even see any major change in your looks.
Awesome Video. I had never seen this interview until today. Thanks for posting!! 👊🏼✔💯🔥
Arnold’s shoulder proportions are incredible. Thanks for the upload
Arnold came to US when he was 18, assuming he didn't know English until then... here he speaks better than native english speakers. This is why he is a legend.

Much love from Quebec, Canada
I was there as they were filming at Findlays gym in Burwood Rd Melb.. in 1975..I recognise my old buddies Peter Napoli and Don Mahony.. The man in the suit is Frank Burwash the promoter who was also a judge at the Mr Olympia in South Africa that same year..Peter McCarthy (Mr Australia 1971) was the owner of Findlays gym back then..
This is super random but I met the interviewer in France a couple of years ago, he told me about when he worked for the ABC and that he interviewed arnold in the bodybuilding days. I remember I looked for the interview but couldn’t find it and then today it pops up on my recommended

This video is still relevant, and it's true what was said about others feeling jealous about others physique and lashing out happens indirectly in different ways, attitude, name calling etc, and that's specially true with people with an inflated ego, it hurts them.

I was under the impression the word narcissist was more commonly used after the millennium. Seeing him say it in 1975 made me realize that Arnold was truly way ahead of his time.
Gotta read more budda
Comes from Narcissus. Narcissus was a Greek god who feel in love his his reflection in a pool of water. The flower Narcissus is named for him.
I think it’s pretty obvious Arnie is a narcissist, takes one to know one. Still respect the guy
Arnold says once that nobody would name a runner a narcissist bec he asked someone about his running time.
How am i looking? Oh, how narcisstic.
How fast i was?

Interesting find. I think I saw this interview once before with Arnold at his prime. This was at the same time Sergio Oliva was busy making the movie “El Poder Negro” while going into the WBBG.

One thing is for sure, you 'll never hear about any bodybuilder doing any harm or being a threat to public order. They are 100 percent dedicated people who have to stick to their game all of the time.I' ve come across a few and they seemed to be very quiet and very humble people who just do their own thing. That can't be said about boxers who have to be violent.
Thanks for uploading :)

Thanks for this man! Really good! Keep up the good content! 👍💪
Pretty interesting to see Australia in its early stages of starting a bodybuilding competition.
Also Arnold Schwarzenegger talking about his time there as a bodybuilder seemed to be some good insight into the area there as well
Some girls say “it’s too much, it’s too big” I get that too Arnie
_That’s what she said_
Arnold has always been exceptionally bright and intelligent. Even when he's young. As sad as it is, he simply cannot be with us longer after all these years and with the regime...I'm talking chemical, etc that he needed to do to get to that level...in the 70s... He's literally on borrowed time. Which sucks because he was the man when I was a kid. The biggest Male star on the planet. People seemingly expect him to be here forever. But soon, one of these days he won't be. Like Stallone, the world and definitely entertainment won't be the same place. Especially for guys that work out, every guy...every single guy that works out or has worked out looks up to or is a fan of Arnold. Period. Imagine when he is gone how much love is gonna be coming his way. I wish people treasured this guy and his influence more while he is alive.

This was a great find. He goes into woman not totally hating muscles also about how certain men think working out is for gay guys. Which some still think that. He puts intelligence to what he does. Not some dumb meat head as people probably thought he was at the time.
Working out is for gay guys?
It’s funny cause some ppl still believe that muscles can turn to fat 😂
Only old dumb people
all they are trying to say is you lose muscle and gain fat... but are unable to articulate that or don't understand how the end result comes about.. but the end result still comes about - if you stop training and eating will you get weak and fat automatically as if your muscle turned to fat.
So the arguement is that if you will lose it all - then why look buff temporarily and not work on something which will stand after you die - like building an estate ;) . Do you see? Men who were about being successful thought long term and found that playing at being a body builder for a while is a waste of time - it only wasn't a waste of time for Arnold because he used it to get into movies and launch a career that outlasts body building.
Have they like never been in a biology class? Lmao
@@agnidas5816 no, some people are actually convinced that muscle turns into fat
@@AndreaAustoni his point is, it’s irrelevant what they believe as the end result is the same. If you stop training whilst continuing to eat, your muscles will atrophy and you will gain fat. For all intents and purposes, the muscle has turned into fat, at least it has been replaced by fat
Wow brilliant video 🙏🏻💪🏻
Body builders dedication is second to none!! R.I.P Luke Sandow!
This must of been back when he still valued freedom.

Not 1975. It was in 1974 when he went to Australia in the off-season summer before the 1974 Olympia. He did guest posing there in the Southern Hemisphere contest. He was at his peak at that point.
You're probably right, but the ABC states it was 1975...which doesn't make sense
@@GoldenEraBookworm Cool. Cheers. For most of 1975, he was walking around at 209 lbs as he was doing the "Stay Hungry" movie and then decided to do the 1975 Olympia just 3 months before the contest because of the "Pumping Iron" movie. 1974 was his best year as he hit his career peak. Got huge in off-season and then shredded down to 248 lbs for the 1974 Olympia. Cheers!

Arnold the OG Chad....
What a unique human. Almost doesn't seem human, too godlike.
Arnold did bodybuilding to get in Hollywood movies. He retired with contest in a very young age. But, im happy he didn't stop with bodybuilding because movies needed his muscles. He made a lot of money like Sylvester Stallone with his muscles.
I have never seen this Arnold video. Great find!
You could tell Arnold was just different. The way he speaks and uses the english language is sophisticated. The way he structures what he says shows he is smart. Definitely a one in a million in a world of meat heads. And that is why he stands out.
Arnold's command of English almost seems better back then than now.
He had speech training to maintain his accent as its part of his image, you wonder why he never lost it during his decades in america.
Arnold's English was awesome back then, years later he was back to his Austrian accent... Uh oh,,geth toh da thoppah.. 🤣😂 But he's still my favorite in action movies and the inspiration for the bodybuilding
When Arnold starts with bodybuilding he was a millionare. Some people forget this fact.
It's unbelievable that people think muscles turn to fat if you stop working out. During basic training, I was not allowed to go to the gym the first 4 weeks, so I lost about 19 lbs of mostly muscle, but because we were running a lot, I stayed lean, if anything, I got leaner. If you stop working out and stop all kinds of physical activity, then yes, you will lose some muscle and gain fat, so, to the ignoramus, it may look like the muscle is turning into fat.
I've had to hammer this home to my dad lol. The reason people think this is because when people stop working out, they don't adjust their caloric intake to suit the decrease in physical activity so they enter a caloric surplus and this gain fat
I understand what he is saying but most body builders at least in media and the ones I encounter are completely narcissistic and Arnold himself was definitely no exception. I'm a fan but many people over the years have said unflattering things about him and I admit I'm sure many were jealous it happens to everyone on top.
Arnold is Numero Uno 🌟
thanks for that!
He was obviously focused and driven from a young age. His remarkable work ethic sets an example to all of us; very few people rise to the top of one profession, never mind 3 like Arnold. A damned shame his being born outside the US precluded him from running for President of the country he loves.
It was Stallone who got me going to the gym because Rambo's physique seemed possible (it wasn't). Arnold just seemed like a god...
I'm old school - Frank Zane was my idol when I was in early 20s.

Mi ex used to say that I’m a narcissist bc I used to look me in the mirror some times.
I dumped her ass.
It makes me angry until this day, only we know the grind, the struggle o bodybuilding, even more if you’re a natural bodybuilder. All the sacrifices, all the hard work. Meeen
1975??...Ah yes indeed, but just wait until you see another body-builder from Australia, "A blond myth" he shall be named, then you will behold a physique truly worthy of remembrance, there but 3 years old.
In time however you shall never forget the name, Lee Priest.
Those who are envious of people who put in the time to get in quality shape, like body building, most likely cannot wrap their head around discipline or dedication. It's out of their wheel house. It's not about motivation, it's about discipline. Anyone can sit on the couch and be motivated all day long. The one's who get up and do something about it are the one's who develop the chance to thrive in the arena of discipline and soar where others dare not.
Bons tempos... 2022 e 2050 ainda será muita inspiração...
this is how we know that the golden age body builders even if the era had some anabolics they didn't take much of them: they really liked women and "perform",
in contrast to the anabolics of the next eras in which body builders didn't care about women and couldn't "perform"

When Arnold began working out and really wanted to get the hell out of Austria, he read many self motivation books which really gave him that incredibly positive outlook and perspective he still has.
Man I’m almost 22 and nowhere close to that...I train so hard but my muscles don’t grow. :(
Eat more, muscles to grow need too much food, you don't grow because You eat chiken and rice, eat more!!
check your testosterone levels there are guys who train all the time with low test and they don't get to the size of someone with high test and barely lift at all
remember that you might have acquired alot of strenght without form
eat alot, sleep alot and train alot.
I've been working out for 3 and a half years on what could fairly be called a bodybuilding program but at a fairly low level. I'm not looking to compete. It's just about me maintaining health, fitness, and the ability to MOVE as a young man can, while I'm getting close to 60. It takes consistency, hard work, dedication, and discipline. All good traits for a person to have. I DO have to grow old. I DON'T have to grow feeble, and I'm making the effort to avoid doing exactly that. I wish to NEVER become physically dependent on other people to do what I can do for myself if I keep myself fit.
