    Thank you! This video saved me a grip of cash!
    Most important of all, the overheating issue has been resolved and I'm back on the road with no problems.

    Great video, I watched the other video of you replacing the fan assembly. Hint: The upper motor mount (torque strut?) could be swung up out of the way (all in one piece) by removing the four bolts that secure it to the bulkhead, this way you don't have to remove the larger through bolts, eliminating a lot of unnecessary work.
    I was given a 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette with the lower intake manifold removed and all the parts in boxes in the van! So it was a matter of guessing what part goes where! After viewing many UA-cam videos and visits to the local Pick and Pull (taking pictures and miscellaneous nuts and bolts) I'm almost done getting it back together. I watched your videos to see how various wires are routed, most importantly the cable going into the ECU air box. The wiring harness was completely unraveled and disconnected from every sensor, said mechanic was looking for a "broken" wire and he didn't stop there.

    Man I got a montana runs like a top looks like a new car has pretty low miles it started over heating so we found out it was a intake gasket so we had it put in so it drove fine for 3 months then started over heating it was sucking air into the motor so most likely it's a head gasket so my old lady buys the complete cooling system of Amazon and other places so I'm fixan to change the head gasket intake gasket and whatever else gasket that comes in the kit plus the cooling system and new fans so I hope I can get it done before Christmas I just started the other day on it. I'd really like to see the video of you changing the heads

    • @Doc_Here
      @Doc_Here  3 роки тому

      Oooh boy. I have already changed the head gaskets because they were blown when I got the van. It is very common with these engines. Luckily there are couple videos on youtube that can help you which I have also used.

    Did you lose much transmission fluid when disconnecting the intercooler lines?

      I did not have to refill later but I don't know how much was lost in the cooler itself.

    Does the radiator can be a cause of overheating? I have changed the water pump, the cup, put antifreeze and changed Thermostat, but the car still overheating. I do not have leaks anywhere.

    • @Doc_Here
      @Doc_Here  3 роки тому

      Make sure your headgaskets are ok. These engines are notorious for blowing headgaskets. The radiator could also be the culprit.

    I have a question, I was wondering, if I have a hole in my radiator would it cause my car to run lean or miss fire? Because a place told me I have to pay 1078.00 for my radiator and an EVAC for the AC. Thank you

    • @Doc_Here
      @Doc_Here  3 роки тому

      If you have a hole in the radiator the most immediate result would be loss of coolant followed by engine overheating and possibly seizing, so not a good outcome in the long run.
      To my knowledge it should not have anything to do with running lean or causing misfires.

    Where was the leak? I didn't see any in the old radiator.

    • @Doc_Here
      @Doc_Here  3 роки тому

      It didn't leak. The filler neck was broken right near the tank. Old brittle plastic.
      Edit: actually not the filler neck but the intake of the radiator from the engine where hot coolant enters the radiator.

      @@Doc_Here Thank you so much for your unexpectedly prompt response. Ironically, my leak is from that exact same area, top passenger side near filler. I really didn't want to take the whole thing out to even find the leak so now I have hope to find it before buying parts.

    Does your van not have A/C? The my 02's and up with A/C have the condenser attached to the radiator. Im trying to figure out how hard it is to do that without having to drain the A/C

    • @Doc_Here
      @Doc_Here  4 роки тому

      The condenser is a separate unit in front of the radiator. The two are not physically connected at least in my case.

      @@Doc_Here Fantastic thanks!! This makes doing the job much easier. Video is very helpful. Accidentally took off the two nuts with the clips thr lines go into and didn't realize there is a gasket behind them Inbetween. One came off and the bottom one is leaking hard 🤦‍♂️. Have to do the whole thing over again.

    I can not get the transmission line to come off. Any advice

    • @Doc_Here
      @Doc_Here  4 роки тому

      It has been a long while since I did this but if I remember right there is a metal clip that holds the line in. I remember undoing the clip with a flat head screw driver and then the line comes out.

    Why skip the first step, drain the radiator? Where is the drain?

    • @Doc_Here
      @Doc_Here  5 років тому

      The radiator was already draining during the disassembly. The drain plug is at the bottom on the driver's side

    Really don't have to take the motor mounts completely off just the bolts that are on the body and fold the mounts back.

    • @Doc_Here
      @Doc_Here  5 років тому

      You are right it can be done that way but I wanted to get as much clearance as possible so I removed them in case they would dangle and fall down.
