Your camera work and editing is boss level. Had to share my experiences with this. I’ve had my second gen for 14 years. It’s my daily. I live in New England. I’m on my second aluminized exhaust. I got the mbrp installer series twice. I painted both systems, so I scrubbed down the entire exhaust, used a whole can of high temp primer and a whole can of high temp black paint, clamps, everything. The first exhaust lasted 8-9years! Like 200k miles. I know 4 guys that were putting on flashy polished stainless exhausts on their trucks, of varying manufacturers that year and they were all rusting off in that same time frame. They were understandingly PISSED. One of my previous mechanics, was one of the very first guys to get 1000hp out of a single turbo vp44, no nitrous. This was 10-12 years ago. The trucks name was misery. On his quest, he tried multiple exhaust set ups to unlock any ponies as possible. I remember that they concluded that with diamond eye, he lost 15-20hp. They did three pulls for any change they did, put a different exhaust on and he got it back. That being said, dynos were not what they are today, also I wasn’t there. But I thought it might be relevant.
I have a straight pipe on my 01 and I love it. It is my daily driver and I smile every time I get on it. When towing up hills with a good size load it is extremely loud. I had a HX35 turbo rebuilt by Turbo Labs of America with a 67MM CW/TW and it whistles big time. I will never get rid of this truck.
I got a stainless steel diamond eye on my 7.3 zf5, the two piece down pipe went in with ease. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a system for an obs powerstroke. Also I used a miter saw with a grinder style cut off wheel and that gave me nice straight cuts to work with
I don't personally own a 2nd gen but my dream truck is a 2001 dodge 2500 single cab long bed (either a v10 or 24 valve or swap a 12v). This truck is extremely beautiful too. Definitely something to admire
My wife ordered me a five inch ss exhaust last year for under $350 from some off the wall web site. Sounds great looks good. Only draw back was, I had to cut and swap the flange where the down pipe bolted to the turbo. 2015 408 cid with manual transmission 3500 drw

my exhaust is 20 feet of electrical conduit i got from lowes, and a tractor muffler i got at rural king. in total my exhaust cost me $45 and a hour or two welding. in my opinion it sounds pretty damn go- shitty.
I was buying aluminized kits for about $350 every other year until I bought a $750 magnaflow T409 stainless steel kit and it’s been on there for 7 years now with zero issues and barely any rust at this point. I live in mid Missouri so we get a little of all sorts of weather. Also my 3rd gen is my daily so it sees a lot of use. Stainless is always the way to go!
I daily drive my 05 5.9 and ran straight pipe for about 2 years. It did not bother me. When we started camping, going on long trips, My wife said it gave her a head ache after about 2 hours. So I put a muffler back on. I think your truck sounds great. I really wish you would have done a before and after dyno run.

I'm going to manifold swap my 06 and run an s300 turbo. The exhaust sounds close to a second gen but you just can't beat the sound of a straight piped vp44 24 valve truck. In my opinion nothing sounds better!

A straight pipe exhaust always looks nice but remember the idea of a diesel is to evacuate the heat as soon as possible so aesthetically it may look nice but I still rather have the pipe coming out the side half the distance of a straight pipe . Also, there’s been much research about heat build up with a straight pipe when towing between the trailer and the back of the truck that’s not my opinion it’s just what has been researched
