    Did you have the same code thats on your ecu and did you just do a straight swap job done ? Or was there more to it

    How to recode a virgin ecu (self coding ecu)? Do you know procedure?

      You need expensive equipment for that so not really a diy job

      @@JoniK1 no no there's a misunderstanding.... I already bought a self recoding ecu. Now i have to install it. I was asking you if you know how to do this operation, in order to recode correctly the ecu with key original code. After installing new ecu I have to turn on the ignition and wait? Or I have to turn on the engine and wait for auto-recoding from the key? Thanks.

      It's done automatically when you first time turn on the power, no need to do anything

    Jonik what about P0170 ERROR?
    I changed fuel pump the I checked injectors but they work good.
    The engine work bad mainly at cold before reaching temperature
    It seems like a wrong carburetion. The engine doesnt react promptly by pressing accelerator pedal.
    Throttle body is clean and I changed it one year ago.
    What do you suggest? Can be ECU problem??
    My car is both petrol and methan (aftermarket).

      Sounds like throttle body problem. First I would try new spark plugs and leads.

    So after you put the self coding ecu in did the car runs great because I need to repair mine cause it's misfiring a lot and I had everything done with the coils but I think it's my ecu but I just wanted to know if the self coding actually works and is it worth the money ??

      2001 with IAW59F.M2 ecu. There wasn't any available when my ecu went bad so I installed newer IAW59F.M3 ecu 2002->, works fine :)

    Hi can you please help my fiat punto 1.2 was having ecu problems took fiat dealer which they found p0351 and p0201 and they said the problem is the ecu the gave price which is more than what I paid the car. I looked internet found company who does ecu gave them ecu parts number then I bought ecu from them when I was changing I didn't disconnect the battery as I can't see your video how to do it but I changed the ecu . Car worked perfectly engine light was off but after one hour everything came back engine light car shaking vibration loss of power when accelerate could you please help me I am thinking disconnecting the battery over night. I changed the coil ht leads spark plugs everything

    I've been changing head gasket. After assembly, both coils are keep going off/dead after 10 minutes of driving. ECU cables have been disconnected during head gasket repair process. Any clues?

      @@JoniK1 at the end coils were fine it was ecu.. kept coils off due to a too much oil in the engine. :s

    Sorry on main bad english. I have problem with ecu on my punto 1.2 8v 2001. If i bought ecu on ebay like you, do i need electrican or i can change myself. I ask a car electrician and he ask 200 euro to fiks the problem. Thanks on answer

    Hi. Maybe you can point me in the right direction.
    My 2002 Punto 1.2 8v, is stopping intermittently. Can be 2 days not doing it. But eventually will happen.
    When it does, it crancks but doesn't start. Some times the key light stay's on, but not allways. And I don't ear the fuel pump when I turn the key. To escape from this situation I disconnect the battery negative, and connect again.
    I've checked all the grounds, except removing the ECU to check how it grounds to the engine.
    Last time it happened I've disconnected the chassis ground (cable that goes from the battery to the chassis and gearbox). I've left the battery and the gearbox side of the cable connected. Disconnected only the chassis ground. Cleaned it and connected again.
    This did nothing to solve the problem. Which means that, when I disconnect the battery negative, it's the disconnecting of the gearbox (and engine) ground that solves. Also the ECU is grounded in the engine.
    My diagnostic is: The ECU "crashes" and by disconnecting the negative it resets. Much like a house computer.
    Now. Is the ECU defective, or is a sensor that connects to the ECU that is causing it to "crash"?
    Have you ever seen this?

      @@JoniK1 Hi. Today I've cleaned the surfaces where the ECU gets the ground from. It was a little dirty. I was hoping it would solve. But not...
      Yes, an extra ground is the next step. If that won't solve then I'll have to get a new ECU.

      Fuel pump should go on even when key light is on. Have you tried spare key?

      @@JoniK1 The key light, when not starting sometimes stays on and sometimes don't. But in this situation I never ear the fuel pump priming..

      Hi Jonik.... I come here to tell you what was the problem.
      Before the problem started I'd replaced the spark plugs with a new set I've found on the trunk (this is a donated car).
      After checking everything, including the extra ground to the ECU, I finally related the problem with the spark plug change.
      I've replaced with new ones and the car has been going OK for 2 month now...
      How can a defective spark plug cause this? I don't know. My theory is that a spark plug was defective (intermitently shorted) and it would cause the coil to send some kind of signal that would cause the ECU to crash.
      I'll replace the coils, just in case.

      It should be same if you have mk2 1.2 8V. No need to do anything else, just plug and play

    hi. i have a problem with my 8v punto 2. I replace all my ignition, spark plug, coil and cables, but my car still dont work good. On tester apears eror p0352, i check my compression and is good. Do you think its ecu? i have miss fire on piston number 2 and the fuel consumption is very big. 6.4km/l. Thank you!

      Hi! Have you changed both coils? Mine didn't work well with only one new coil.

      For safety but there's only two connectors so it's almost impossible to do something wrong :D

      Yes three times 5000rpm (wait until the revs drop to idle) with warm engine, don't work with cold engine. No need to turn off :)

      There was mysterious problems, temperature light flashing etc. This fixed almost all, still running a bit rich on cold start in cold weather though.

    Hi, I have replaced ecu of my point the engine has problems to a minimum.
    first with the old ecu the car was fine.

      That's misfire for sure, I would start by replacing spark plugs and leads 😊
