There are two oil strainers on the XS, a long one underneath and one in the left hand side casing, they can be washed with fuel to clean them, the one underneath is likely to be ripped which is a common fault with those and they are quite expensive. Great bikes and built to last
Hey so I’m getting no spark on my bike sale model but 1979. I replaced both spark plugs and still no spark. Any suggestion on what I should try to do next ?
Karatekid? But " mr. Miagy" didn't change the butterflyshaftsealing ... one of the most issue of the BS 38 .... there is a lot to know to adjust, and no, i don' t prefere mr miagys wiremethode to adjust the butterfly. Better you use the gauge that you use for the valvegap. Because the butterflys from soft brass, and the wire / drills will damage the sharp edges of them !!! Your highrevelolution comes , while you adjust syncronisty with wire and do not screw the main idle back down ☝️😉
The location is beautiful so is the motorcycle.
Clean out idle circuit on carbs! That's why it revs high right away only main jet is open. I had same problem. Got to love Mr Miyagi!
What a beautiful nature republic! From Bangladesh
Good to clean those carbs. My 78 needed a update on the charging system. Yamaha paid for it in 79.
Great work Eddie! Keep it up!
I was super pumped for when it fired up! Congrats!

Get yourself a "j.i.s." screwdriver / bit, youwill need it working on japaneeses stuff.
Buy a set of JIS screw drivers to make the job easier.
Yo necesito los carburadores doblé cilindros para la Yamaha XS 650
Ya.. those air cleaners are real junk. If nothing else oil them good. K&N brand actually work better the dirtier they get. So to speak...
These starters are junk try not to use it
