I have a 2004 usp .45 also that i've been trying to trade for something else smaller but after watching this video I got a clearer understanding of this awesome pistol that I didn't realize before.i have a change of heart now.thank you for making this video. keep up the good work.
If you can't find an HK Mark 23, the USP 45 is a more than adequate substitute, with the definitive variant being the (suppressor height sight & threaded barrel equipped) USP 45 Tactical. It is worth noting that the Mark 23 is not a beefed-up USP, and the USP is not a scaled down Mark 23. The two guns were developed simultaneously in their own separate programs. The magazines on these guns are compatible, except for the base plate on the USP. I do wish HK would simplify the line and sell the USP 45 with Mk23 magazines. HK would help itself by updating the USP with the HK45's features, especially the standard rail attachment section. Overall, one of the greatest handguns ever made, and a still very relevant model in a world dominated by Glocks and Sig P320s.
If I owned the Gun Store, I would have had the Pistol thoroughly cleaned and checked for any major issues before I put the pistol up for sale. That just seems like common sense to me. For Safety and to protect the Gun Store from future litigation if nothing else. Regardless, I enjoy your Channel, and you put a bunch of good information in this video. This HK USP 45 is Fantastic! Beretta Sr. 🥳😎👊👍🇺🇸.
Very thorough and well represented review of the H&K USP 45. I own one myself and regret ever selling my first handgun which was a H&K USP 40. I can’t wait to purchase a H&K P2000 in 9mm. Keep up the good reviews and look forward to more reviews.
You are paying for the most overbuilt pistol ever made . Mark 23 and usp can go over 100,000 rds without parts being replaced . No other pistol can go that long period . Only stock 45 that can use 45 super .
Awesome gun, I own several weapons but this one would be the last I'd ever sell. Also agree with you it has an awesome grip, much much better than my glock 21. Love my 1911's but this is another thing. Exxcellent video: nice lights, good speech and nice 'shoots', lol... keep it up, congrats !!! :)
Over 8k rds through mine and she is still flawless. I have had a few hiccups with her but nothing that was her fault. 1 was a dented round I found at the range on the ground. She fired it but the dent made her stove pipe. The 2nd time was a friend firing it. He got 2 FTFs and I suspect he was limp wristing her as I could never duplicate his craziness. He got 2 off of a single mag and I marked that mag and have 300 rnds through it with no duplications. I am a nut when it comes to testing reliability. I did do some minor mods to ensure reliability but I do that with all my guns and to date she is basically flawless. I would trust her to protect my life and my family's lives. Hands down a beautiful work of art.
@@MDpolo Thanks. Basically this thing is a running gunning tank. But to ensure reliability with feeding and cycling I do two small things. 1. I used a dremel tool and flitz polish. I mirror polished the feeding ramp on the barrel. It is so slick that there is never a hang up. you can wipe off the carbon with your finger and still see your face. I use a Dremel polishing bit with flitz polish. It will do wonders for a lot of feed ramps out there. And 2. I always, and I mean always use Super Lube grease on the rails of all my guns. I have tried everything and I did mad research for ever to find the best stuff. This $6 tube you can get on Amazon or at Harbor Freight is by far the best grease to use. It stays where you put it, it does not attract dirt, doesn't break down and get gooey/sticky and it does not melt. If you want your gun to cycle right, everything from a 1911 to your favorite 22 target pistol, use Super Lube after cleaning your guns. I keep a cut down piece of wood skewer and take tiny amounts to all metal rails and where I see wear forming (metal on metal marks). You'd be amazed at how well a gun will work when friction is mitigated like its supposed to be. I go out with a lot of folks and have made them all believers. I don't think I have a friend left who doesn't use the stuff. A tube will last you forever! I know it doesn't sound like much but trust me when I say its the small things, the attention to detail that aid in making guns reliable. Oh and no I am not paid to talk about these products. I am just a dude who never wants to need a pistol and have it fail on me.
I owned a HK45 and a HK USP Tactical 45 acp . I had to sell one . I sold the HK45 and kept the USP . I just found a HK USP CT 45 four more payments and it mine : )
My HK USP 45 tactical is the best 45 I own and have ever shot My own dad who used 1911s in his military service to actually defend himself with, and subsequently carried concealed and raised me to shoot, said the USP 45 tactical was an awesome pistol and he wishes he had it instead of his 1911, especially paired with a proper suppressor Thats quite an endorsement from a guy who never believed in polymer guns, or needing more than 7 or 8 shots of 45 to down someone. He may be old fashioned and using what he knows, but he can at least recognize a great pistol when he sees one, and the USP 45s are definitely a great pistol series
The USP 45 is a damn fine pistol and you will undoubtedly cherish it. Got mine back in the 90s, its date code is KF (1995), and don't ask how many rounds I've put through it, as I haven't a clue! The only things I've have done to it is polished up some of the internal trigger components and installed an oversized mag release, that I really like. Excellent video by the way.
@@MDpolo The mag release I got from hkparts.net. Last year I picked up an HK45C and it came with the larger mag release from the factory. A nice touch from HK!

Really nice review as always! I'm looking to get that one, someone bought it out from me at the store 😧 I have the HK 45 would love to add the USP 45 to the collection.
One thing I’m learning with these USPs is that you see one - you grab it on the spot. I lost two in the same manner you describe. Thank you for your kind words and for watching. Cheers!
Get one if you get the chance. Its a go to war gun. I sold my usp 9mm years back and regretted. I redeemed myself with the usp 45. this year and never letting go of it.
Would you recommend getting the .40 or .45? I was thinking .40 since it was originally built for it but the .45 followed shortly after! Either it’s legendary and I can’t choose 😂
For me, I would choose the 45 ACP. I only say this because I don’t want to get into a different caliber. I don’t own any .40. But you are correct, it was designed for the 40.
@@MDpolo yeah I was thinking .45 since it’s a full size but at the same time I feel like it’s only right to get it chambered in .40 since it’s the first lol I would like to get the usp/c in 9mm later down the line too

Good. Enjoyed your presentation. Picked up a 95 in 45 acp. Looked brand new except some wear on the outer barrel. I have to say it is in outstanding condition. I lucked out. Eight and a quarter out the door. Factory site front is high so I will have that changed to HK lower front site. Mag release is interesting.
If you’re looking for an HK bullseye pistol, look to the HK USP Expert, or HK USP Elite. Both are designed to be excellent match-grade pistols and meet competition standards.
The Stag Horn emblem from what I understand are the trademarks from one of two proof houses that the German government requies. I love these usp 45's I have 3 one comp silver slide and two black, 1 comp and one fll size
A guy brought in his usp 45 from late 90s for the shop to clean . He never cleaned it over 20 years just put some new oil on it every few years . Apparently he didn’t know or care .
the horn proof mark is from the house in germany ILM that tested the product, the first proof mark is that is was tested with nitrocelous ammo, smokeless, but good video!
You got a special model, very lucky. That's not a US Model. That's a German domestic model that has been imported vs a German Production model for US import. The box is different and it has been repackaged with the English manual but the slide markings for the HK logo are different and the frame has the german proof stamp. US Market direct models are missing a few proofs like on the frame. Also anyone getting 14 rounds in that magazine is using mag extensions which are easy to get from HK Parts. The spring fully bottoms out right after 12 rounds but new springs or stretched springs are required for the extended baseplates.
@@MDpolo Yes, I did install match trigger. It soften the DA a little bet and reduce the SA from 4.5 to 3.8 pounds. The SA feels even less around 3.5 pounds. Also, I put talon grips and upgraded the sights to Trijicon. I have other modern firearms, but this is my favorite.
