Casiopea - Dazzling - Bass cover

- Taken from their 1983 album Photographs, this is my favourite album of theirs. Tetsuo Sakurai on the bass is a massive influence and his work is some of the most underrated bass playing still yet to be heard by so many. He used a Kramer bass guitar on this album as well as a Yamaha BB3000. My Jaydee series 1 bass cuts through on this track really well, so it was good fun to play this. A fantastic band featuring Issei Noro on guitar, Minoru Mukaiya on keys and Akira Jimbo on drums. They followed this album with ‘Jive Jive’ also from 1983 which was I believe was recorded in London and features ‘Kiki Dee’ on vocal for a couple of tracks.
I live in Japan, I am an Ex-pat and I have been a fan for years they are by far THE MOST underrated band ever on the Jazz-funk scene, the majority of Japanese I know never heard of this band and even when they listen, they are surprised that a Japanese band plays this funky. Sakurai is a beast in his own right, I too, love to listen to the old nostalgic music. Japan for the most part with the J-pop craze is just crap IMHO, my kid loves it, but all the music from the late 70s and 80s in Japan is just tight as hell. Thanks for bringing this piece back to life, glad there are people outside of Japan that love their music! Keepslappin! :)
