I've fallen from a scaffold before for about 15 feet. The fall isn't too bad, nor is the trip on the way down. The sudden stop at the bottom is when things start to hurt LOL

I'm ex SAR/Civil Protection in UK and when I studied heights rescue my Commander used to say "Falling never does the damage, the sudden stop at the bottom does. "

Greetings from the southern United States! Maya, I have been watching your channel and the scope of the various projects that you have undertaken and completed. I am continuously amazed and impressed by your strong desire and work ethic throughout your wide array of different jobs related to your property there in Portugal! The old saying about work being 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration could not be any truer when watching you set your mind to something and seeing it through to completion! I thoroughly enjoy watching your visions become reality! Bless you and have a wonderful week!

Oh, Maya your scaffolding is adequate and you took measures to keep it as stable as possible. Try looking up bamboo scaffolding in Asian countries. Those guys are crazy!
Not a plumber here but my family has a country house with the same water problem. Pumps run all the time and wear out way before you expect them to. Perhaps adding a 1000 liter tank that is filled with the pump with an internal buoy set to start the pump once the tank is at 50% can help everything pressurized if you put the tank higher than your buildings.

Planting yukkas next to walls is the worst possible mistake, within 3 years, the wall will fall, and it will be a nightmare to pull out the yukkas when they are considerable in width.
I speak from my own experience, I have yukkas over 50 years old.
If the land was flat there would be no problem, but this wall is there to support the earth from falling in a very short time the roots will push the earth and make the wall fall into your land.

Love you DIY,!!! That's not an earth rod, that's a copper tube. Copper oxidizes and then it loses its conductivity value or your grounding. This is therefore not allowed. Must always be a tinned solid pin. Good thing is you put it anywhere so just place a proper one somewhere else and connect with a correct thickness grounding cable. If you know somebody who can measure the conductivity that would be nice. It can make the difference of the earth leakage circuit breaker is working properly or not. A significant safety point.

You'll still have to mop-in some of the deeper crevasses with a brush.. but it'd go along a lot faster & you'll be able to reach a lot higher & further. Imo 😉 Best wishes! 🏡

While i do agree with other comments that the amount you've got to do at height, it'd be worth looking at some proper scaffolding, what you had looked well built and you were aware of the risks. What scared me was using the ladder not fully extended - this is likely to move and topple you to the floor. Yes a less serious fall than from the scaffolding, but much more likely to happen because you don't seem to be aware of the danger.

You are doing an amazing job. Your stamina and creativity are most impressive. As for the safety issue. There are levels of being safe. On a construction project where multiple trades are interacting, the risk for unsafe conditions is high. That is the reason that those projects are watched (and checked) closely and frequently. You seem to be aware of where your feet are and what you have to do to protect yourself. I think you are just fine and this is coming from an engineer with construction experience. Keep up the awesome work you are doing. Best regards!!!

I think your scaffold was just fine. The thing I feel so sketch about is how that concrete balcony has zero support. Ummm make sure when you put the floor in washroom to use rebar. The walls your poured down there may just cave forward as they are not tied to the structure so your floor will have to basically keep them from possibly collapsing inward from the downward pressure of you structure. Ideally you should have dug under the walls in places and poured some footings for both walls to sit on.

I was a bit worried about the scaffolding until you put the brick there.

This makes me confirm the worst fear I have always had about my own character ...that I am LAZY ....sitting watching youtube videos on renovations, people working so hard using their own hands to transform homes....maybe I can still change ...

Maya, i love watching your videos. Your work is absolutely inspiring. An working with only using what you have on hand is a joy to watch.
Please keep up the awesome work. I look forward to see how your world continues to improve, impress, and how it will look when completed.
I was wondering what kind of books do you like to read on days when you can not work on improvements?
