Brian, for me STARWARS has been a universe that took me out of the pain of being orphaned on May 24, 1977, I watched the movie everyday for 3 months I was 14 years old and felt that Luke and Ben kenobi were showing me the way… So I embedded that into my family May the 4th is a reminder of what got me out of a big hole. My wife,2 sons, and 2 grandsons are probably not as nerdish as I am but for us (me) it’s the universe that made us thrive! So keep building things out of nothing we love it!
The epitamy of what is inside all of us nerds, geeks, fan's.....we wear our lables with pride. Thank you Brian and Carissa for providing us with inspiration and enjoyment.
Brian, you always bring the best reasons to be part of the Star Wars family to the fore and I love you for that. May the force be with you too...always 🤓
Star Wars was (and is for us and our kids) something that brought us together as a WHOLE family. My mom and dad had a tough time of their marriage, making life for me and my brother not always fun. BUT....we ALL were happy when we watched Star Wars. Every Christmas from 1977-78 on was some sort of Star Wars toys for us. SO MANY quotable moments, fun times, creative incredible escapes. My Grandpas house in Palmdale was the Lars homestead (we live in the desert in Lancaster/Palmdale California where they found the high tension wires to make the blaster sounds!!) When we combed the desert in our VW vans, we saw old TV chassis and grandpa would "see if there were any good tubes in them!!" HOOTEENEEEEE!!!! We were Jawas too! Let those who don't understand follow their own path. STAR WARS FOREVER! GEEKS FOREVER!!!! MTFBWY today and always!!!! :) 53 year old Star Wars GEEK and I'll NEVER apologize! :) Happy May 4th!
Thank you for including our little Jawa video. 💕 And thank you for defending the fort (restaurant) against those who try to lift themselves by pushing others down. May the 4th be with you. 💕
Amazing and "wax" away brother. You and your channel helped me find a the perfect balance between my artistic side and my love of star wars. It was an aspect of life that I did not know I needed. So thank you. Funny enough I was just telling my wife tonight that our community has got to be one of the most healthy and positive star wars communities around. I think you articulated the appropriate approach very well.
What a great video. And i think the message goes beyond Star Wars - there are so many things we HAVE to do, which makes it really important to find something we WANT to do. We all need an escape. May the force be with you all.
This was such an awesome video!! Loved seeing all of the different awesome projects! And your insights on the fandom are spot on. The Maker Star Wars geeks seem to be one of the most welcoming, positive, and supportive communities I’ve ever seen and that’s incredible
I wouldn't say its Star Wars specifically for me. More industrial retro futuristic sci-fi in general. Star Wars, Aliens, Blade Runner, Tron, Robocop, Total Recall, Dark City, Elysium, The Fifth Element, The Expanse, Firefly, Judge Dredd, Dredd, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Appleseed, Patlabor, Alita, Cyber City Oedo 808, Warhammer 40k, Shadowrun... I love them all.
Amazing build and that Millennium Falcon is just beautiful! Here I am, 45 and still trying to nail down my passion. It used to be gaming but the toxic and predatory nature of gaming corporations has really driven me away. I am starting to rekindle my love for model and diorama building that was lost sometime in my youth when I had to "grow up". My love of Star Wars has not waned since I was 7 years old and watched Return of the Jedi with my dad. I love your passion and I hope one day to be as passionate and inspired as you are. May the Force be with you and Happy Star Wars Day!
Wax on! I always love when you dip into the philosophical. Loving it. What you said in the conclusion is true, and it’s great experiencing Star Wars through your builds, and the great fan builds you highlighted. But for me personally you left out one aspect. I’m sort of a lapsed catholic of Star Wars fandom (at this point the only exception is Andor). But I keep coming to your channel because the techniques I’ve learned from you I use in so many other projects. It’s you (and Charissa and your dad’s) enthusiasm, thoughtfulness, and passion that brings me back. If the Smugglers Guild is a family, you’re the ones who made us feel like one. I have also been obsessed with Star Wars since I was a child, and I am very proud of it, and thanks to this obsession and wanting to do "Star Wars style stuff" I found the Smugglers Room channel, and I saw that I am not the only one, thank you for inspiring us and teaching us so much 👏👏 Happy Star Wars Day and May the 4th be with you guys
I love watching your videos. The passion you have for Star Wars and its universe. I wish I an ounce of imagination that you do Brian, I might be able to release some great ideas I have in my head. At least you had someone show you how to make something out of nothing. May the 4th be with you and Carissa always.

There couldn't be a better way to celebrate Star Wars Day than to see you create another brilliant piece and enjoy those great builds from others. I agree, creating art is an escape but it's also what makes us as humans [and perhaps Nerds] a species with potential despite our failings. May the 4th be with you )O(
@@TheSmugglersRoom you and your family put out great content and inspire those of us that are just starting out.my kids and I love your channel. I hope to post my first video soon
Great post. Thank you! The build you featured today is wicked awesome. I actually had that toy as a kid. Wish I had it now to duplicate your craftsmanship.
Seeing this in July. And just making the finishing touches to a stand that will allow me to for the first time ever see my full suit of clone armour I made from the outside when not it being a pile of parts in a box. Thank you for all your sharing over the years of your love of Star Wars
Thank you for this video, it’s so true though. For me it’s an escape, hard depression and trying to be the best father I can be for my kids this is a fun thing now I get to share with them so it helps even more.
Awesome video and great builds by you and all those you featured. And we can’t let those who don’t understand or appreciate our art influence us - that comment really resonates with me; for me, that’s my dad. He will forever question my hobbies and how I spend my time and money. I get it, he does not understand and he’s frugal; I indulge what gives me pleasure. To make my life more enjoyable - This is the way. And it’s great that our community has makers like you who help share the way for others.
I am also a Star Wars fan. Don't know how big or small but a fan, since my childhood. There are many answers to your question, as to why building Star Wars props from nothing is worth every fan's time? It gives a sense of purpose to a monotonous life, like a video game. Having a purpose is important even if it is from a video game. Purpose leads to everything else more important than a video game. Another answer is enjoying pure art with your own hands. Nothing can beat that fun. It's a hobby. A place or a galaxy far far away for you to relax. Hobby is anything done only for sake of doing. It's pure fun. It's pure art. There should not be regret in any art. If you are having fun just keep having fun as long as you want. Next is the learning part. You need practice to design something useful for the real world. This artform has shown me a way to practice and refine my designs. As a beginner I learn from the artists like you. Since, there are no constraints so you can experiment freely with the design. Moreover, the raw material is from trash so it can be thrown away. However, I know how difficult it is to part away from the masterpiece created with your own hands. This has led me pile up trash, I mean creations, meant to be thrown away. One video request: If you can make a video dedicated to reproducing Star Wars colour pallet and paint effects organised categorically using just spray paint cans and simple brush painting. It will be immensely informative for the beginners like me. Thank you, for sharing another great video.

At first I thought addictions are bad, but I did a little research. They can be bad IF they interfere with your life, but there are plenty of good addictions. However, as a weilder a words, I think PASSION is a much better word. You have a PASSION for Star Wars and creating things about Star Wars. Great video Brian. Can I share my May 4th story with you? October last year I was run down by a hit and run driver. I'm doing ok but waiting for operation number 4 on a long road to recovery. I havent physically been able to get in my workshop cave for 6 months, but made a special effort for May 4th. My daughter came through the door of my workshop to find me just sitting there smiling. She asked me what I was doing and I just replied "I'm in my happy place" Can't wait to get back to my build, but in the mean time I'm enjoying watching everyone else's. Keep 'em coming MTFBWY
First of all I’m so sorry that you’ve had to go through such an awful situation, and we are very glad to hear you are on the mend and getting better each day. Secondly, so very happy you have found your way back to the place that brings you joy. I understand that completely. Prayers for your continued recovery, you got this!!
@TheSmugglersRoom thank you so much. I honestly wasnt posting for sympathy but it is very much appreciated. I just wanted to highlight that whatever your chosen escape, if you cant do it for a period of time for whatever reason, getting back to it is so much sweeter. And that doing what you love can have MASSIVE positive gains on mental wellbeing :-D
I like watching you guys build something out of nothing, and they look great and Star Wars stuff I like too I just don't have talent to do what you do. I see how much you enjoy creating all those gadgets, well, in a way I sort of do something similar. I like to make little visual modifications to my cars. Unfortunately, mostly in vinyl. Well, um, eh... these mods are best viewed from ten feet away where they look OK. Be waiting for your next vlog. You and your wife have such great chemistry together. Light the spark.
Thank you, sir for your explanations of this Universe, and remember May the 4th be with you, beware the Revenge of the 5th, and for everyone else, this is the May.....
Lol! Wait there is no 12 step program? For this addiction of watching your videos, and living vicariously through your builds. Holy crap! I'm in deep trouble! And the builds of your fans are great!
Lol well it's a good addiction! Smirks, Guess that makes me the unofficial president of S.r.a.g! (Smugglers Room Addicts Guild!) We are currently kegging some Bantha beer and Jawa juice for a crazy party! Lol...
Star Wars is a way of life. My 10 yr old daughter woke up and surprised me by telling me " May the 4th be with you" while wearing a cloak and one of my custom lightsabers. I now know for sure i am doing parenting right. Thanks Brian and Carissa.
That explains why while I really like the SW and sci fi themed rooms I've seen, I don't have a lot of impulse to build my own. I do enjoy building things but I'm not particularly artistic. Not to mention... Talk about dust traps! Yikes! And I hate cleaning. ;-) Thanks for sharing.
when you edge light your plexy, that has been laser engraved, how well does it illuminate those etchings/engravigns? and, that came out GREAT. nice job. and May the 4th be with you
I had an interaction at a local event I worn my Mando to, I had an individual come and ask me Why? I responded simple ,Why not? they answered back, Touché and walked away.
And still everything has to look like used forever. BUT beware you make scratches or, god forbid, dents in it! Feels like you put in a blaster shot impact, but only painting it on the surface and put no real hole or deformation to it. (See it as positive feedback. What you do is awesome and the video production quality is above and beyond)
Have to say 2 things, love this prop, really awesome and I absolutely love it, but also your attitude to the franchise overall, perfect, the way I see absolutely everything in the franchise is the best part of all of it, every movie, series, game, novel, comic or whatever other mediums I have missed, it's all the best to some people and I absolutely love that even when I don't agree, I just wish the man babies who do nothing but cry would apply the real world life lessons this franchise should have taught all of us and stop with the hate already. It is really tiresome to read the same criticisms daily especially when the bulk of them are objectively false and nothing but a misunderstanding on the viewers part
Wow thank you for including my ship in your build!!!! Its cool to see something I made will be a part of your room build.
Is that you Donald? Thanks for the awesome piece, it’s one of my absolute favorites!

Thank you!! Don’t sell yourself short, I bet you are making awesome stuff for your cars and that’s fantastic!!
Great video as usual , I’m 65 and love this stuff , 🤣
Glad you enjoyed it
To all the Darksiders and Imperials. Revel in Revenge of the 5th.
Ooh gotta deduct points for that square deflector dish.
Nah, I love the square dish!!
Thank you, sir for your explanations of this Universe, and remember May the 4th be with you, beware the Revenge of the 5th, and for everyone else, this is the May.....
Thank you, I will
Lol! Wait there is no 12 step program? For this addiction of watching your videos, and living vicariously through your builds. Holy crap! I'm in deep trouble! And the builds of your fans are great!
LOL!!! Once an addict . . . always an addict! Thank you for watching!
That’s definitely parenting done right!
Yes!! Exactly ...😆👍
👍
That explains why while I really like the SW and sci fi themed rooms I've seen, I don't have a lot of impulse to build my own. I do enjoy building things but I'm not particularly artistic. Not to mention... Talk about dust traps! Yikes! And I hate cleaning. ;-) Thanks for sharing.
Dust is just weathering 🤣 but I get it. Thanks for watching.
@@TheSmugglersRoom Funny, I had thought of the same thing "Hey it'll just make it looked well used." Thanks for the reply.
Outstanding work. Nice piece of work 👍👍
Thank you
Enjoyed the video.
so glad to hear that!
when you edge light your plexy, that has been laser engraved, how well does it illuminate those etchings/engravigns?
and, that came out GREAT. nice job.
and
May the 4th be with you
Edge lighting on score lines and engraving is absolutely amazing!
Nice work as always Brian!
Thank you! Cheers!
I had an interaction at a local event I worn my Mando to, I had an individual come and ask me Why? I responded simple ,Why not? they answered back, Touché and walked away.
I can’t explain it. Star Wars beared us, birthed us, made us powerful, gave us focus…
Agreed
And still everything has to look like used forever. BUT beware you make scratches or, god forbid, dents in it!
Feels like you put in a blaster shot impact, but only painting it on the surface and put no real hole or deformation to it.
(See it as positive feedback. What you do is awesome and the video production quality is above and beyond)
Beautiful, man. Only thing that makes me sad is the rectangular dish :(
Nah, don’t let that bother you. Just part of the evolution of things.
Why doesn't UA-cam have a heart emoji? This video deserves more than a thumbs up. Lol, forget man cave, I definitely want a Nerd Fort.
Thank you
Anyone build knocked out of the galaxy.
Thank you my friend!
WELL SAID!! YOUNG JEDI!
Thanks
May the 4th be with you
You too!!
🙏
May the 4th be with you all, hope you're having a great day
You too
this video is awesome !
Thank you!
I picked up that Hit and Missle game when I saw it in your previous video, I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do with it.
awesome! Would love to see how it turns out!
